Hi all,
Ive been on these forums in various active states for 2 years since I bought my new 2005 Milano Red Standard Euro. All I did initially was add the 18x7 Gold Speedy Lite 7 wheels. ( see avatar left)
After much consideration for many months I decided to re-lease the Euro as my 2 year business lease expired this month. So I'm leasing for another 2 years and will outright own the car
BOTTOM LINE: Im 100% free to Mod this Red Beast:thumbsup:
So instead of screwing around with bits and pieces;today (June 07) I ordered and paid for:
SUSPENSION MODS COMPLETE - AND AWESOME !
Tein SS Coilovers - Installed
Cusco Front Strut Bar - Installed
Whiteline Rear Sway Bar - Installed
Ingalls Camber Kit - Installed
All this came to $2044 delivered. Not bad I say.
I decided that suspension mods are the way to go to get better on road performance. Im often in situations in Canberra where its my lack of handling thats the issue in normal and spirited driving, not power. It seems that my car has gotten a bit soggy in the handling over the 2 years. I really do notice it. It will be fixed with the above mods I should expect.
COSMETIC/AUDIO:
Euro-R Genuine Front grill with matching red surrounds Installed. Love it
AUDIO: www.xcarlink.com.au (http://www.xcarlink.com.au/) installed USB version. Its good. Full wheel control of MP3 songs. see my mini review. (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1375793&postcount=32)
M3 Rear Spoiler Mod: Cancelled due dodgy fitting/design
http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/9499/frntqtr2wr2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Performance mods: UPDATED
Now the Aussie dollar is 89cents Vs USD !!! :)
I have ordered today( October 07):
Fujita CAI for $320 AUD landed Bargain. REPLACED BY COMPTECH ICEBOX WITH K&N FILTER Fujita = Cop magnet
Topspeed Stainless Steel Header $340 landed. Now received and pending install. ( i know its not toda etc, but its got to be better than stock based on what I read at the other forums in USA)
JTUNE MILD FLASH : Fully Installed and Great! Vtec now 5000rpm more power/tqr $899
COST OF ENGINE MODS: $1559
Magnaflow 300 Cell CAT Installed $400
I'm aiming for the lowest $dollar per kilowatt ratio on these forums. Ill get some Dynos to see how I do!
So there you go. Im basically doing the lot at once. Im pretty excited about it and I welcome any comments or suggestions that you may have.
I will post pics when the gear arrives:
First Pic:

hondata will cost about as much as the intake and headers combined.
your basically doubling the cost by getting tuning.
IMO get the headers and intake. Don't get ebay headers cause they'll probably do more harm then good. Theres a fair few companies out there that make headers that are under 1000 bucks. 700 - 800 should be doable but you'll need to search.
Good luck

Yes I take your point.
Im am think quality headers and CAI may be a better investment than Hondata as they can be removed and sold if needed ( since hondata will cost to be removed and hence has no resale value)
Im not looking for a lot of extra power, a little mid range torque and a nice engine note under acceleration would be nice! I actually just want 30NM through the rev range if possible.
Ill post some updates and pics as the goods arrive. I know im going to have some fun fitting some of the parts! Im a bit of a noob mechanic :)
Generally though I think ive got the right mods so far in terms of the suspension. This forum and the members here have been invaluable in helping me make the right decision the first time.

Good advice. IMO leave the Hondata alone and just get a decent set of headers.

It has begun:
In case you guys thought I was full of s**t I present the whitleine RSB:
http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/7582/whitlineqb4.th.jpg (http://img263.imageshack.us/my.php?image=whitlineqb4.jpg)
Im expecting the Tein SS, Cusco and Ingalls in about 5-6working days. Euro-r grill in aweek or so.
Have to try and install the RSB myself with a buddy. Should be ok.
Im getting quoted $414 for the Tein installation and alignment? Is that about right pricewise?
Back to headers, the problem for me is that $1200+ headers arent allowed in my mod budget. Its purely an arbitary amount im limiting myself to. Then you go straight down to the elcheapo ebay headers.. not much in the $500-$800 header range at the moment.

My personal feeling if your options are ebay headers or nothing (as the rest are to expensive), stick with the stock factory piping.

Rear RSB is easy to install(i've done it).$414 seems a bit much.I think approx.$280-300 would be about right.

ok.
M3 Style Lip spolier is in. Looks ok.
Pics soon.
Got confirmation on the ingalls and a few other bits.
Busy week coming up!
Only place left for a suspension install is Quickfit/Jax who may give me a discount if i get tyres at the same time...hmm..i want the best alignment tho no matter the cost. I see it as a safety issues when wife drives teh beast!
Ill sit on the header issue for week or so...

I have a feeling it is the same as the ebay (DC copy) version, well they look pretty close for the similar $$$ and you can get them locally.
Even though it is cheap you will notice a change in driving. However with any upgrade in yr exhaust you will not get any max gain without dyno tune.

Yes it does look very simlar doesnt it. I did a search and cant find much on it.
Im booked for 4 new tyres, the full install of the Tein, RSB and camber kit. I have got the camber kit yet so im hoping it arrives by thursday. Its about $400 for the full install and setup. The alignment is part of the new tyres deal.
Hopefully should go well.

What can I say but :
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/4331/sideqtrek9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Mini Review: Tein Installed and RSB in. No camber or strut bar yet. New Tyres BFG G-Force
Setup:
Ok. I asked to have the car lowered 40mm at front and 35mm rear but I think its a lot lower than that. Its too low at the front. Ill raise it 10mm. It scraps on the back of an ants arse.
Theres 3 degrees of rear camber which is ok for now. Camber kit next week.
I have 0 toe on front and 1mm positive each rear for a total of 2mm positive. It tracks VERY well. Its very stable, way better than stock and doesnt pull. Even with the 3 degrees camber.
Brief Opinion Day one:
Its handles almost completely flat. It has an abundance of front grip, giving a new found confidence through corners at speed. The "doughyness" through roundabouts when pressed has been replaced with a solid connection with the road, giving you the confidence to adjust your position as speed when needed with no unsettling. Its safer than stock I believe because you can react and be connected to a result immediately on the road. Basically it "feels"like you can take corners safely at double the normal speed. i would never attempt that on a public road though. Another point that i didnt expect: the VSA is kicking in MUCH later than before. Yes I have new tyres but the VSA is seemily not interested until the very very severe limit. Before it would engage willy nilly.
The car feels a lot more solid because its not moving around at all.
The ride is excellent when set at the 8/8 shock setting and handles bumps very well. That being said I wouldnt be crashing over large potholes in a hurry.
Overall :
Im very pleased with the result. It has exceeded my high personal expectations. Handling very good, ride excellent. Look = great. Ive got that semi touring car look i was after. No need for a bodykit.
Next:
M3 lip spoiler and front strut install -

Is yr Cusco strut brace painted blue on the main bar as well, just looks different?
hondata will cost about as much as the intake and headers combined.
That isn't correct - I think you are thinking of the K-Pro. The Hondata for the Euro is a reflash which isn't very expensive if you just get the flash without bolt ons.
Im am think quality headers and CAI may be a better investment than Hondata as they can be removed and sold if needed ( since hondata will cost to be removed and hence has no resale value)
Good work ont he setup Suntzu! Have you thought about the lower arm bar - it is good if you can avoid damaging it.

Ok,
Strut Bar installation was a breeze. Not sure if I can feel the difference because I go so much done at once. Te front end is VERY well tied down and firmed up.
Iv got the tein on 10 front and 8 rear settings, seems to suit. The car handles very very nicely and has impressive stability.
Euro-R grill arriving tommorow. Still no word on the Ingalls camber kit that I need desperatley.
Im still annoyed at the slight gearbox whine I have , not sure if its bad enuff to get a warranty job but ive also developed the 6000rpm high freq rattle in the dash which is a bitch but ill get it sorted out.
I was thinking of flushing the manual transmission fluid but that top filler bolt looks impossible to get to!
but ive also developed the 6000rpm high freq rattle in the dash which is a bitch but ill get it sorted out.
Turn your heater temperature down if you are going to VTEC - this solves the rattle from the heater core

OK,
I fitted the JDM Type R grill. It was a bit of a pain in the ass getting to the clips and I mangled a few. Yfin saved me $150 by advising me how to use the existing radiator cover, saving me from buying the JDM one.
Heres a shot:
http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/762/front3va0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
More shots to come. The cars looks a lot tougher now lowered and with the grill. Im still in two minds about the M3 lip spoiler option. I kind of like the clean look of the car now.
I have the Ingalls camber kit and its getting fitted on the 6th Aug. Tyres should be ok till then, I'll probably only do 500kms.
The handling is great but I need to look at the ride height again before the camber gets fitted as Im doing another alignment then. I did scrub the underbody of the car under hard cornering on a smooth surface which surprised me. The height has to go up. I need to get access to the rear Tein suspension adjustment also so I can play with it.
For anyone thinking of the suspension mods, you really need to have it set at the desired height then drive it for a few weeks, let it settle , play with the dampers and then set the height again and have it aligned properly. I think this is the only way to get the best result for the individual.
More shots to come.
Still no word on my potential engine mods and tuning and who knows about hondata!
EDIT : Update: This is now my second favorite mod. After the Tien SS and the resulting lower stance, the grill really makes the car look tougher. Its a combination of the lowering, the wheels and the grill that make it look a fair bit different from other euros. I get a fe wlooks cause of its modded-semi-stealth appearance, esp from other euro owners...

I am running the ebay header, and aside from the crappy flex pipe(which I had replaced) I am very happy with it.
there is a dyno on acurazine on it and it does make power according to that one, I sadly haven´t got a befor and after dyno on the header to confirm that:(
I have also got the K&N typhoon cai and am very happy with that(nice growly sound at wot)
and the Hondata reflash, that of course is my favorite mod to date:)
210crank hp and 247.5NM (around 30whp@6000rpm gain)
in a couple of weeks I´ll have ep3 CTR 1-5th gear and final drive+flywheel. and cause of our crappy stock gearing I am betting that will become my favorite mod:)

Im pretty interested int his CTR ?? 1-5 gear swap. Ive always said the euro's gearing was , well, wrong..
What is a ep3 CTR, how much and what does it do? And what are you doing to final drive? Very interesting.
h1coupe
19-08-2007, 02:40 AM
as you put it, yes the stock euro gearing is horribly wrong:(
of the 6speed boxes we have the shortest 1st and longest 2-6th gears and also the highest final drive? gearing giving us a maximum calculated speed of 195mph?
the gap between 1st and 2nd is so horrible that it is almost impossible to get reasonable performance out of the car, and that is also one of the reasons that I messed up the 2nd gear syncro?
but anyway the ep3 ctr is the 2001-2005 civic type-R.
so we have
stock vs ctr
1st 3.533 vs 3.266
2nd 1.88 vs 2.13
3rd 1.355 vs 1.517
4th 1.028 vs 1.147
5th 0.825 vs 0.921
6th 0.659 keeping that one for highway cruising.
and final drive
4.389 vs 4.764
after maximum speed will change accordingly.(my rev limit is raised to 7600rpm)
stock vs new gearing
1st 36.42mph vs 36.33mph

How expensive is it to do this gear swap? I reckon shortening 2nd and keeping 6th the same would be an awesome mod.

What was your trap speed at your last 1/4 mile? If you exceed 103mph, you will waste time shifting into 5th without much track left, while the stock car will be able to finish it with 4 gears.

QUOTE]
I just purchased a used ctr gearbox from england and am having the whole internal swapped into my casing, only 6th gear to be replaced.
you canīt shorten only 2nd gear, then you have to change out 1st(they are stuck together on the mainshaft), there is an option to close them better together that is to swap the 1st and 2nd to TSX gearing, TSX has a longer 1st gear making them closer together, and then swapping final drive to 4.764 or 5.062, shortening all gears. I had thought about that, but decided on this.
costs me only the price of the gearbox, itīs beeing fixed under warranty.
cost of the box is something like 1500aud.

I've been running the new Tein SS and the RSB and strut bar for a few months now. I've got it set at setting 10 hardness. Thats 6 clicks back from fully clockwise on the front. I haven't changed the rear setting in fact i dont know what it is as I have been able to work out how to get the seat out.
I did get a workshop manual CD from ebay and that is excellent.
Also my alignment setting seem to be very decent. That's zero camber front and zero toe. And 1mm toe IN at the rear with a tiny bit of camber with the ingalls kit. Tracks well, doesn't tram line ( better than stock FTW) and self centres ok. At speed the car is VERY VERY stable. Its amazing actually and inspires a lot of confidence.
You can really get up a pace in traffic and just hold it through roundabouts and so on. Makes the car flow a lot better. Easier on brakes. I haven't found the limit yet but the car WILL OVERSTEER if you turn of VSA and hook in ridiculously hard:eek:. Which is unsafe so I dont do it. :DThe balance is neutral slightly oversteer. Its perfect.
I might soften the front rear shocks a bit for everyday driving though.
I was looking at a package that Mark from HYPERTUNE ( see http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69190 ) contacted me about but that was a few months ago and since he's not returning emails or PM's :thumbdwn: I'm assuming he's bailing on his offer of the HALTECH tune and header/cai package.
Would have been nice for him to have at least contacted me to say he's not doing it anymore, especially after we discussed it at length over the phone. (seemed like a nice guy) Not a very professional way of doing business.
So looks like the basic Hondata Flash with some decent headers and maybe a Injen/K&N/Comptech CAi cant decide which. This will give me a nice boost for under $2k. Can't pony up the $4000+ sight unseen, especially as ill probably get the next euro in less than 2 years.

You access through the seat squabs next to the door.
From memory there is a bolt you can undo to remove them.
However, long term solution is that the top of the shocks where the damper adjustment key fits in is just below the plastic moulding that is behind the seat when you fold it forward. I just drilled a hole about 10mm through the molding so the key fits down through the access hoole into the top of the shock and...click,click..adjust...
So all you have to do to adjust in future is fold the seat down and poke the key through the access hole to adjust, take about 10 sec each side.
I you like I can take a pic in the morning so you can see what I mean.

Should be a sweet combo. For the topspeed header, you might want to replace the flex pipe section so it doesn't crack and hiss before you install it. Better than putting it on and taking it off again.
Good luck!

It looks ok. It very solid, its got good TIG welds. The design looks decent for what I paid $340 AUD landed.
If I get 6kw out of it an 10nm I'll be happy.
The runners have been smoothed out. The intake area looks smooth and clean.
Im assuming by the way each of the 4 pipes combine together that this is due to the cyclinder firing order. 1and 4 2 and 3. Im guessing this is to keep the extractors filled evenly and consistently. I wonder if the stock header does this?
Im tossing up if I should dyno it stock then fit headers and intake, then Dyno 2 and then Mild REFLASH ( ordered today) and dyno 3 but it might get expensive. Not sure what a dyno cost in Canberra.
Ill report in when fitted.

You should change the flex pipe now before it cracks as it will cost you more time and money when you have to remove and refit it again later.
Also check that the O2 sensor hole is straight when the header is sitting upright, a few of these headers have been off and have had to be rewelded correctly.
Good luck and and have fun.

Just thought I'd post up a cpl of pics of how to adjust the rear Tein SS and how to access the cavity, someone else was asking me on the weekend at a meet.
First is a pic of a access hole I drilled behind the seat which is only visible with the seat in the open position. I'll get a couple of rubber caps one day.

I just didn't screw the side panels back in after install the coilovers. They can easy lift off after opening the seat backs and fit back on. They do not move once the seat backs are locked in position. You can easily adjust the dampers this way. Just an alternative to drilling holes.

Yep. i did this. I have my bolsters in unscrewed for easy adjustment.
By the way I set from front Tein shocks to 14/16 so nearly full stiff and the rears to 10/16. So its pretty firm but has freakishly good handling.
I might go 12/16 Front and 8/16 rear for long term.
On other news my baseline dyno was a DISASTER. See this thread http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1392737#post1392737

Jesus thats some serious cop attracting donut noise!
Its totally sweet when I hit vtec in 2nd or 3rd, you can hear it engage very clearly. You cant talk or have a conversation and be heard but you can here the vtec kick in like a mutherF.
On a serious note it does seem to have a fair bit more squirt up in the top half of the rev range. But is hard to say cause more noise sounds like more power to me and most other people.
Its a bit loud for my liking. Normally if I gave it a little bit at the lights and no one would even know, but now I'd get pulled up by any copper within 100 metres for sure. So that sucks. But it is a very nice and tough sound.
Ill see how it goes. 2 dyno results soon!
PS: The install was fine. I used all the internet guides and my Bro In Law is a champ on the spanners! No real hiss or issues with the flex pipe on the Topspeed headers as yet.
The Fujita CAI install was very fast. Probably 40 minutes from start to finish. He nailed both those tough 10mm bolts on the resonator with ease. I also opened up the plastic fog cover for some cool Ram Air Intake Action (TM)

Yep all CAIs/SRIs are very loud when you give it some stick and attract a lot of unwanted attention. I like the stealthy factor of airbox style intakes more and they are also more responsive down low to mid which is great for daily driving.

Im getting used to the Fujita CAI. As long as youre not WOT all the time its fine. But when you to..believe me othere cars KNOW your coming through. Its like an agry animal is unleash and begging to eat someone. :)
I dont know if its the CAI or the Headers or both but I can hear VTEC so clearly now. Its a bloody fantastic sound. A real mechanical switching noise. It sounds really efficient and powerful.
When I get Jtune and the VTEC is 5000 rpm then its going to be that much sweeter.
I can feel a bit more low down torque at approx 2000-4000rpm and a bit more power at about 5000-7000rpm. Its noticeable, a modest improvement, not a great one. At a guess im calling 10-12kw at the fly. Im hoping with Jtune it will be a very nice combination on a budget!

Ok,
Minor update.
I have exchanged the Fujita CAi for the Comptech IceBox.
It is MUCH quieter, not as tough sounding but it sounds decent. Its not a cop magnet any more. ( not that ive ever been pulled over, i havent, ever) I do miss the vtec roar at 5000rpm but it less noticeable anyway now I have the jtune flash.
Im installing a K&N filter today as I think the stock filter is a bit arse.
I have also installed a Magnaflow 300 cell ceramic cat, dunno what size but it matches my header. Initially it didn't do much but after a hundred Kays or so seems to be giving me a bit of extra torque done low.
This sounds like crazy talk by my cars pretty torquey now!
I think the icebox is torqueyer than the the fujita but the fujita has more power at 6000rpm. Not much more and I dont spend a huge amount of time at 6 grand anyways :)
So maybe the combo of Comptech Icebox and Cat has added torque down low more than expected.
Definitely that with the Jtune and header makes the car more drivable. This is good and kind of the opposite of a lot of honda tuning which aims for peak dyno power.
Now ive almost decided on an exhaust.
A local aussie guy on ebay selling the HKS SILENT HI POWER for $700 + $130 ship new. What a great deal.
It s a bit of a waste of money cause i dont expect power but i want a tougher sound, but not too loud.
This will probably complete my performance mods.
I do have the blackout tape, SS doorsills and my free Heat shield gasket to install..one day!
I've done all this stuff on the cheap as you guys now but its worked out good.
I reckon i will hold the record for KW per dollar but i need a dyno to do that and im waiting till the exhaust is fitted. Will take a while.

lol you said in your dyno thread that you are going to do 'a heap of mods to the engine'...so far you have intake, headers and cat. not exactly a 'heap'

What could i do to you please you Will? I mean i don't want to disappoint , after all im only doing it for your satisfaction.:thumbdwn:
I meant it when I said keep this thread on track. Post relevant useful comments or don't post. Its not complicated.
I am considering lightened flywheel and a mild clutch but my clutch isnt due and i want to do both at the same time. Not sure of the install cost either.
Id love cams and a tune but i already have Jtune mild Flash and regardless theres not a lot of decent tuning options available. That and the fact I haven't seen any decent posts on cams and dyno gains.
I pretty happy with the mods Ive done to be hones. It might not fit wills idea of a "heap" whatever thats means but ive had a lot of fun doing it bit by bit and im sure theres more to come..

get some form of lip/body kit and a new CF bonnet and make it a real j style car lol.
do the manual transmission ones come with K20??..are the manual ones more sportier is what iam asking lol
cause in japan the CL7 come with K20A so if you have this engine it will be easier to get parts from japan that will fit.
I currently have a accord euro and all i got it a lip kit and a grill but it looks pretty clean and stock

I think im definitely going with the HKS silent power. Shouldn't be too loud from what I've heard with a header and hi flow cats. Theres some decent clips on you tube.
I find the fujibso to be too quiet and expensive and the others too loud. That's why I've settled on the HKS Silent Power. Not to mention the very good pricing...

During day to day driving it is excellent.
In the lower revs its is loud but as you go through the rev range it is not bad at all.
When on the motorway for example if you leave it on cruise the exhaust is silent
When you hit the A pedal however you will definately hear it.
It sounds very tough, better still, instead of me describing it i will throw it up on youtube tonight for everyone

I having a lot of trouble finding anyone who sells this at a decent price. Theres an NZ ebay guy around the $850 delivered mark but hes not getting stock for 8 weeks.
I cant justify the $1200+ for the local guys. Too much dough for a non performance mod.
Im leaning towards Exedy lightened flywheel and stage 1 clutch instead at this stage.

OK,
My 300 Cell Magnaflow Cat has been in for a few weeks and is now working well.
Initially i hardly noticed it but now the car has DEFINITELY got more Torque from 1500-5000 rpm. I dont notice it as much above 5000rpm but that probably the vtec kicking in anyway.
My car feels VERY torquey and tractable around town. Very nice cost effective mod indeed. I'd say this does more than cat back but i dont have cat back so i really dont know.
Skunk2 Gear knob installed. Helps with the shift and looks good. A bit cold to touch when you first take off in the morning though. Cost about $100 landed.
Changed my Comptech Icebox Filter to a K&N filter. Did the foam insert mod. Now the icebox is about 10% louder than with the comptech filter. Sounds a bit tougher, its nice actually and no where is as loud as the old fujita...
All good cost effective mods.
I cant decide if im doing HKS Silent Power Cat back or Lightened flywheel and sport clutch. Im leaning towards the exhaust even though there's not much performance in it because the install costs of the clutch are a bitch...
cheers

I got the local exhaust place to fit it as a package. Was supposed to be a 300 cell Magnaflow Metal Cat but the guy reckoned he couldn't fit the o2 probe in the metal one so I got the ceramic 300 cell cat. Flow rates the same. feels like a decent improvement over the 900 cell cat thats stock. Cost me $495 all up which was too much. I reckon the peformance gain is similar to a header though subjectively.

Since I have the Jtune mild reflash wich is optimised for 98ron fuel . I thought, hey would it be able to handle higher compression in the head?
The K20a uses a 11.5 compresison ratio.
The K24A in the Euro is a 10.5. Now i have the reflash i reckon it can handle a little more.
I saw this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/k20-k24-k20a-rsx-tsx-DHR-High-Compression-head-gasket_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el1 262QQcategoryZ33665QQihZ024QQitemZ370042206008
I thnik i means I can raise my compression by 0.3.
Should be ok since i have the reflash and only 98ron do you think?
What sort of gains might be reasonable expected?

i was looking at that gasket for my build...
i havent heard of the brand before, so i asked a few of the tsx guys, no responses from them about the brand :( so im not sure if theyre any good or not...
power wise i dont think it'd be worth it for you, the gains wouldnt be that high, and its very very expensive to have your cylinder head removed to fit the new gasket... im talking about 4-5hours labour ($90 an hour labour) depending where you go...

See the proper Dyno thread but it was 118kwatw and 188nm. I was hoping for more but this dyno reads reliably not optimistically so ive been told. Im told by yours truly above that a stock euro got 102kwatw on the same dyno. So a approx 16kw gain isnt bad. Feels like more when you drive it cause the mid range is fatter in my car. Not peaky as you might expect.

hehehe yeah ill probably install it next week some time, im taking it in to my mate Eric @ custom fabrications to die-grind out the flange at the cat. converter end... its only a 51mm opening when the rest of the piping is 60mm... im guessing its because it was designed to mate with the smaller stock flange, but my TODA test pipe (with metal cat.) has 60mm flange :D

Can only compare it to Eur003act's dyno. Can't compare it to mine. :(
Pretty good A/F ratios though. 13:1 is the usual guideline for safe tuning.

No issues. I like it. Just make sure you use a bit more throttle to get off the line, otherwise the revs drop when you release the clutch. No problem with going uphill (actually better than stock flywheel). Revs drop quicker when I clutch in, so it matches my shifting style. No need to wait for the revs to drop anymore.

Can you tell me if a stock RBC will fit straight on our cars? And if i get a bigger throttle boddy does the RBC need to be modified then?
Heres a good RBC - Ported out to 65MM
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORTED-RBC-INTAKE-MANIFOLD-ACURA-HONDA-K20-K20A2-K24_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ36474QQihZ018QQitem Z280260078787QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Do I need to avoide the premodified ones? Can you see any advantage paying the extra $100 for the ported RBC if using a stock throttle body?
And lastly will my Icebox fit the RBC or do i need a custom intake?
Thanks guys.

RBC is direct bolt on... all you need to do is tap in a 4mm nipple for the vacuum line :)
as for using J32 throttle body, the RBC or RBB (which ever your using) will require some welding (idle bypass valve) and the TB will require a MAP sensor hole to be filled...
all easy mods...

The ebay dude just got back to me. hes been really helpful.
He says: ( when i told him ihave drive by wire K24a)
"In that case, you won't need the throttle body adapter, you won't need the modification for going onto a K20 head, you won't need the extra Gasket between the adapter and the throttle cable throttle body, you won't need the replacement vacuum line since you already have the correct one, and you won't need the hardware to bolt the adapter on. Looks like all you need is:
RBC manifold unmodified
Extra Gasket between your throttlebody and manifold incase yours rips when removing
I can do $200 plus shipping for what you need.
Shipping will be a bit less with the lower weight:
$73 for 6-10 day Priority Mail International
and
$88 for 5 day Express Mail International "
Does that sound alrgith to you? Thats about $300 or so landed. And I just need to then do the nipple mod yeah?

He replies:
"Sorry, I don't carry throttlebody because they haven't proven to do anything for anyone under 260whp. Yes, that's with porting the RBC to match.
I do have the RBC plastic cover, new from Honda I paid $61 for it, just for my RBC customers.

similiar design and build to the UR pulley set except the UR is generally lighter.

is it worth the gain?
hmmm prob not, but noticeably the PS and driving with A/C feels piss easy now and less struggle.

It was going really well. My best mods were the jtune mild flash and the RBC. It was a very decently quick car by the time I sold it and it was excellent on fuel. About 10% better than stock. Probably around 6.8 sec to 100km but more importantly it had instant throttle response and great flexibility.
I got $20 000 for it about 3 weeks after listing. Unbelievably a woman from ballarat bought it for her ....wait for it..... L PLATERson who needed it to get to uni in Melbourne...I mean WTF? When i was at uni I had a $2000 KE70 'rolla ..these times are a changin...:zip:

So thats it from me. I finally decided to put my money where my mouth was and this car is a bargain in comparison to what i would have spent on my euro to be happy. To be honest it was time to change over to the new members. I dont really fit into the slam it on 20' chromies and doff doff into the sunset crowd. Theres a place for that, just not for me in it.
Best of luck.
