Not sure if this has been covered b4
06 euro manual transmission seems to be making noise when in gear
sounds like a winging noise,
when out of gear noise goes away
i hear it mostly when rolling and slowing down whiles in gear
it sounds like the syncro in gear box is grinding any ideas?

If it happens in all gears then it may be a pressure plate or throwout bearing issue. Have you tried changing the Fluid?

If you are not using Honda MTF, refill with MTF and see how that goes.

Yes it should be covered under wty, but they may argue that your Mods may have caused the problem.
The fluid may be contaminated during the wearing-in period, so a fluid change may help.

Go to your dealer and ask them to bring a technician out for a drive with you to listen to the noise while you drive, they can tell you if its normal or not, and possibly even tell you the exact problem.

all ive modded is the intake and lowered
but like i said i had that noise since new even before my 1000k even before i put the intake in
I had a tech dude come for a drive and he said nuttin to worry bout might b just gears still wearing in, but till now nearly hitting the 20k mark ive still got the noise,

ill try a gear oil change on my 20k service and see how i go
any1 else encounter thsi problem ??

With your mods, they can't void tranny warranty. Since the noise goes away when you put in neutral, then it is not caused by the driveshaft angle from lowering.

i dont think it it will b the drveshaft, thats a good thing
and i was just worried since my car is low they might blame that and void the warranty

I have the EXACT ame problem. Had it from 7kms on the clock when new.

I have had my dealer look at it and they acknowledged the problem. We are waiting to see if it is getting worse. Its not that bad but slightly annoying.

Im about to lower my car and do mods but I have a reciept from them saying it has this problem well before i have attempted any mods.

I have not had my gearbox oil changed to my knowledge but given there two of us with this issue im guessing its something more serious..

Hmm, sounds like the normal whining sound that sounds like a supercharger. LOL. If it is, then almost all Euros have it,

Thats exactly like mine sounds like. A supercharger but only 20 % as loud, but only under strong acceleration or hard downshift.

So you reckon is a normal characteristic of the euros?

Normal because quite a number of Euros had it. Most people don't notice it because they have their radio/CD on when driving. Whether if it is a problem or not, the dealer will have to check it out first. I can tell you that changing the transmission fluid won't fix it. :)

Remember that gearboxes have many moving parts. There is bound to be some noise. If your wall clock can tick loudly, why can't a gearbox have a whine?

Someone said that it was the a thermal expansion valve: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showpost.php?p=645524&postcount=18

While on the topic of gearboxes, I put the car into reverse while stationary and noticed quite a loud "clunk" sound. Was slightly alarmed so I went through the gears while still stationary and noticed more "clunks" and "clanks". Should I be alarmed?

Reverse engages nicer and with minimal noise if you go into third and then down to reverse. Every manual gearbox I have driven prefers this method too.

The noises you are hearing with the forward gears - shouldn't be clunks - but you should obviously hear the gearbox selecting a different gear. Is this by any chance your first manual gearbox? Just trying to guage your experience with manuals.

Get someone else who drives manual to listen to your car :)

Not my first manual car, but going through the gears while the car is stationary is something I've never done/rarely do. It's the forward gears and reverse, I'll get a mate to have a listen. Thanks
