I currently have koni yellows combined with King super lows. Am looking to upgrade to coil-overs. Currently i am looking mainly towards one of these two (Buddyclub RSD or Cusco Zero 2) But am open to any other suggestions on other coil-overs around the 2k-2.5k mark.
Will be mainly for street use/mountain run, I prefer stiff suspension, so not really worried too much about harsh rides etc.
I am looking for something stiffer than my current set up. I was happy with it (I always had the koni's on the hard setting) but if i am upgrading to coil-overs I would like something a little stiffer.
Really keen to hear from people who have had experience with them in their own cars.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide

Honeslty, i'm not too cluey on the Cusco Zero series of coilovers, but i've heard that they are fantastic, honestly.
But the Racing Spec Damper have a fantastic reputation all over the world, and i think you might be hard pressed to find someone who has had a bad experience with them in Australia. I've spoken with quite a few RSD owners and they have only had praise for the quality, ride, quietness and performance. I'm sure any RSD owner will back me up on this
Keep in mind, with Racing Spec damper there is a full replacement warranty with official dealer-bought items - should anything go wrong there will be replacement - and not repair or any other rubbish like that. I don't think you will find that level of service with any other brand! It is the service we offer that sets BC product aside from the rest.
That being said, i'm sure the cusco's are also fantastic, but you might not get the same reaction from the supplier, should anything go wrong with them.
i tried the racing spec.. and i give it a big thumbs up...

I tried Cusco Zero 2 in EM1. They are Great and not bumpy. I don't like too bumpy on the road.

Pitty I had to import my RCD. And I don't give them the thumbs up for street or mountain run. It will make your car lose traction a lot more than usual and be a lot more unpredictable when cornering hard on non track surfaces. Unfortunately, for my tastes the bump setting is a little too hard and the rebound is too soft. That said, I am yet to test it on the track, which is what it is designed for...

You might be right Dylanamus, but unpredictability and loss of traction is more likely to be an alignment issue. It could even have something to do with your tyres!
The best coilovers in the world won't be effective if you don't have a wheel alignment and geometry setting that is up to scratch! Setting the car too low can also account for these sorts of symptoms!:)

If you want a stiff coilovers, go with the buddyclub. If you want nice and comfy ride and just the usual squirt around corners, go with the cusco's.

LOL... I find setting 2 soft for my liking...setting 3 all around with 16k front/12k rear Apexi Springs :p

I agree BCLUB, and I intend to re-test the coilovers on a few different surfaces after I resolve any outstanding alignment and tyre issues :)

Ok, just so i can get a sort of bench mark for these coil-overs. How much stiffer will both the cusco zero 2's and the BC RSD's be compared to my Koni yellows set on hard with king super lows?? Both be a lot harder? or only a little bit harder?
Thanks for the feedbak so far

Yes I get 1 wheel off the ground up normal driveways...my work driveway its usually the back left and then back right..as I turn in lol
haven't jacked up....although I am running stiffer springs than you normally get with the cuscos.

thats all the chassis bracing you got?
Do you hear much squeeking when you go up the driveways when the wheels lift up?

I used to get squeaking... not anymore. I got all urethane bushings, uprated sways and braces and tie bars in the typical spots.. Could be stiffer though hehe

yep...front sway on the teg is already 27mm so no need to upgrade...upgraded the back to 22mm type r one....
I don't really hear squeaking when I go up driveways...just some noise every now and then when you go over bumps from interior bits like dash.
I don't really need any more bracing as the set up is very stiff as it is.

i am still deciding between the cusco zero 2 and the BC RSD. I know the cusco's can go real low but how low can the BC RSD go? Is there gonna be much travel left once i have lowered it like 2.5" or something like that. (about wat my car is now, 2.5" -3") How easy are the cusco zero 2's to adjust compared to the BC RSD, i know the BC's are very easy to adjust.
And also will Both of these coil-overs be stiffer than my current Koni yellow with king spring combo? i am pretty sure they will be, but just making sure.
Thanks for your help guys.

Pretty sure they will be stiffer...adjusting damper is dead easy..just need a flat head screw driver....as for height, its just the usual c spanners...but the cuscos can adjust height at the bottom of the shock too.

The BCRS also have adjustable lower perches...
