grille is on.. double-sided tape is all thats holding it in at the moment. problem is that the holes at both sides + middle to hold the grille in are too small and the big-ass clip thing won't go through so need to re-drill them. too tired now lol

I suggest you tighten the grille cause my last one was blown away on highway.... If the holes are too small use cable ties, they are very strong too! :P

so basically the entire 'post a picture of your latest mod' + everything in the appearance gallery should be deleted too yeah? go let the mods know.. seeing as how talking about pictures is not on-topic!

wtf **** came outta nowhere..

ontopic - got my grille on today, kinda sad; WTB - better fitment =( pics to come.. (or can i? ...)

ekdez
05-06-2009, 01:10 PM
show us a picture of fitment.. (Y)
you can never get perfect fitment of aftermarket stuff unless its genuine mugen etc..

tbh.. i dont like the mugen grill :\
it just doesnt do it for me..
are there any other grills out there? anyone know of n e?

LOL also has n e one noticed how uber long our front doors are O: i only noticed it today LOl

ganj3
05-06-2009, 01:14 PM
Yeah same I dont really like the Mugen grill
Ekdez you can also get the Type-R grill but I think you need to make some adjustments for it to fit. There was a DIY on fitting the Type-R grill done, just check the DIY thread

ekdez
05-06-2009, 01:17 PM

ekdez
05-06-2009, 04:34 PM
so what do the feel's and BYS etc use...
they just use a bumper which stretches into a grill hey :\

that sucks..

OH yeah btw..
my j's titatnium exhaust.. which i got..
the modifications which need to be made to fit it on are..
1 - i need to get an extra pipe made to fill the gap between the headers and the start of the bpipe cos its too short.. its just a straight pipe. will be made from mild steel not titanium.. cos no one in canberra is equipped to do titanium LOL how sad..
2 - also the hangers are a tiny bit off.. so the muffler man said he would weld a hanger off my stock hangers(attached to the chasis) and just use the orginial bushings to hold it up =]

should only cost around $200 to create and install =]

so if you guys in the future want a j's exhaust those are the only mod's (Y)
otherwise its perfect fit.

so it was a white fd w/ a few stickers - centre parking sticker (so i know he works in same building just dunno where), cusco sticker (maybe its got cusco coilovers? - lower then my car), and an option1jdmgarage sticker or something? haha.. it has red H badges dark ass tint! and what look to be maybe replica (no offence) te37s in black w/ red lip in a multi-fit 5 stud so probs 5x114.3 and 5x100? cos it had 10 holes.. 17"

doesnt sound like much but it just looked really nice lol, shame i couldnt be around to hopefulyl talk to the owner - pix to come later w/ deleted no. plate

lol.. i hope he actually has performance parts of those brands in his car, and not just stickers.
and the wheels are most definitely replicas, since i dont think rays make multi-stud wheels.
anyway, i hope he joins up with ozhonda or u meet him again, so we can organise a bigger brisbane fd meet.

liquid32: which lights is this for?

i'm using for trunk light but ebay sells one that has an adaptor that can fit anything. so maybe use for back light above rear seats.
also got this, middle brake light.

.k.

NZFD2
09-06-2009, 06:38 AM
im surprised that the audm fd doesnt have the keyhole light..I thought it was quite a basic thing to have, and I'm sure it wouldn't have cost them that much to include as a standard especially since the fd isn't that low in price as well..

liquid: what size (mm) festoon bulbs do the map lights take?

the lights inside the car are 31mm, you can take it out and measure it =) that is what i did hehe.
They sell like a 41mm holder not sure if you can get that to fit in the light holders. might need some modifications. i just went for simple as i wouldn't know how to do it. If you want to get the PCB board of SMD LED lights to fit in the boot like it did, it doesn't actually fit in the holder you need to kinda just stick the board on to the metal.

I ordered 3 x 31mm Festoon SMD LEDs for $30 NZD

Are the ones you bought 31 or 36mm? The one im getting (31mm) has only 1 LED module whereas the 36mm ones have 2, if it fits then I might change my order as I noticed the ones you've got has 2.

One thing I learned from car mods is that you stick to your own taste, dont let others dictate you.

"Placing Type R emblem" exist not only in Honda, AMG on Mercs, Evo on Mitsu, fake LV bags on chicks heaps other stuff...so do what you like mate lol.

i was checking out that 8thcivic.com forum and some1 removed the intake resonator box and customised their intake from this

http://i35.tinypic.com/2ever76.jpg

to this
http://i35.tinypic.com/2uoo2a0.jpg

the guy who did it said it "helped out the dbw lag and felt a tiny bit faster"

wonder whats the whole point in having an intake resonator box.. does it provide cleaner air? create some kind of air pressure?

has anyone tried to do this? not sure if it looks secure and how it would affect engine responsiveness.

i dont think so, when i had my car up, and had a look the resonator sits back behind the passenger fender liner (plastic crap) almost directly above the drive shaft IIRC, the actual piping comes down and behind the battery and it didnt come anywhere near the foglight housing (mine is vti and doesn't have fogs) so it shouldnt interfere.

All i did was rip out the resonator, chop the snorkel and then using the battery mounting point, pointed it down towards the drive shaft (approximately 50mm above) and with the snorkel end facing forward, to also avoid any hydrolock i disconnected the rubber flange from my intake to the snorkel and left approx 50mm gap.

So far all it has done is made my intake sound b*llsh*t loud and i don't feel any gains at all hahaha.

will post pics if needed

its hard enough to put a ratchet inside there.. is there anyway to take off the side plastic covering.. it looks deadset connected to the pillars

also, coz u have to remove that plastic covering to see the front towers, and once u put in the strut bar 3pt.. is there problems with water goin into the engine bay?

FallenAngel
16-06-2009, 05:55 PM
Yes u can take off the plastic covering. Look towards the edge of the engine bay you'll see black plastic parts, you gotta take that off first on both sides. Then you literally use force to pull the middle plastic bit off.

Use WD40 to spray the nuts and use a breaker bar to take it off.

Hope that helps

nahh man... 500 for a cusco RSB (23mm) is abit too much.. think should be from around mid 300... but u could try getting a ultra racing RSB (19mm), cheaper than cusco.

some suppliers have their stock higher than some since it depends on when they bought the stock.. so when the $au currency was down thus the parts are high, if suppliers bought them when the $au was high, then the parts are lower.

i believe ultra racing is a malaysian brand whereas cusco is japanese, so that explains the price difference.

ive got on cusco 23mm and ive got no problems with the endlinks breaking off which some say it might due to the RSB being larger than 19mm but the endlinks are pretty strong.

u can get cusco and ultra racing at jdmyard... cusco at jdmconcept... ultra racing at shift performance.. these are the ones i know of but i bet their heaps of other traders that supply em.

wow... how much did it set u back? damnnn nice additions. whats the racing spec condenser do?

The Buddy Club Racing Spec Condenser combines an electrical grounding system with a battery current and voltage stabilisation control unit. The unit is designed to stabilise electrical noise and voltage spikes and offer additional grounding

quote:
"We recently dynoed Buddy Club's Racing Spec Condenser - an electrical grounding system with a battery current and voltage stabilization control unit. I have to maintain anonymity of the race car, but it showed a 3% increase in torque throughout the rev-range that is used on the track (3500 RPM and on). The driver of the race car was taken by complete surprise that such an electronic gadget could do this, as we ran multiple dyno runs with the same, consistent results. We disconnected the condenser, and it was back to previous torque curve, reconnect it, and it jumps back around 3%. The driver was a bit more than excited as he thought he had done most of the tricks for horsepower including expensive processes such as polishing the gears to aid reduce loss of power due to friction."

Made in Japan.. lmao

Nice additions!

hmm, but interesting how it says torque but no mention of bhp or kw.

think its torque.. but i havent dynoed my car to know how it would affect kw

but the product manual goes to say it:
increase power and torque
improve fuel economy
smooth idling and improve engine response
improve audio quality
increase headlight brigthness
improve battery life

hey howy, u know for ur front strut brace.. does water get into ur engine? since u have to remove those 2 side plastic covers

i placed the adjustable unit in the right side holder and drilled a hole at the back for the wire access

then it connects to the ecu adjustment device which i placed inside in the right hand side of the dashboard.. wire then connects to the accelerator sensor

very clean mod if u drill the hole.. if not the wire will be outside

Has anyone taken the rear bottom part of the seats off?

Either I can't get mine back on or I think i snapped some bit of plastic that possibly meant to somehow hook on?

Just wanting to know if anyone else has had this problem :(

nope...just pull the latch and theres a bolt that holds on 2 it aswell near the seatbelt either on left or right forgot
but im quite sure there was only 1

improove audio quality?...now im interested...

 ... i'll give a more detailed review after a weeks time but so far ive noticed that fuel consumption has improved abit due to the condenser and could be offseted by the e-throttle, audio quality sounds the same even though i didnt have a problem with it b4, and notice HIDs light up faster than b4

and with the e-throttle booster, great smooth engine response

dont mean to brag but i went up against a wrx sti and i managed to keep in pace with it until i reached a certain speed limit that i dont want to disclose :p (just wanted to do a quick test out my new mods).. and boys & girls, speeding isnt cool.. not unless its on track hehe

pm me price LOL

If i'm not mistaken but the throttle booster doesn't give any performance gain...?

So technically you would have kept up with the wrx (STI i'm not so sure =/) without it anyways.

JOhnnyFD
19-06-2009, 06:57 PM
e-throttle just gives better engine response.. so i'm able to take off earlier than b4, rev the engine quicker, and able to match the other car's speed and pace until a certain point

i only matched the wrx's pace til a certain speed, then i backed off but was able to stay behind him throughout the way.

does not add power in anyway watsoever.. sif these mods would make me beat a wrx... but a turbo hmmm lol

i found one on ebay, from US, adds up to about 92-95 AUD.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/K-N-AIR-FILTER-33-2343-2006-08-HONDA-CIVIC-SI-ELEMENT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em14 QQhashZitem220359327453QQitemZ220359327453QQptZMot orsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

i'd prob just get mine off here because theres no autobarns around my area i dont think (Hornsby).

btw that ebay link is for the FD2 (sport) model air filter. different number for r18a i believe.
