Someone try this... Tim maybe? Match your LED's

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/do-yourself-articles/184326-led-glow-your-headlights-diy-pics-56k-doom-u.html

basically you're putting LED strips under your headlight housing, without taking it apart or buying audistyle projectors off ebay.
I reckon it's cool, can't wait to see someone do it to an FD

I think I saw this on the SG Civic forums. Apparently you need to do this everytime you start up the car if you want the added bass?

12-11-2009, 12:39 AM
I did it, doesn't make much difference (that i could notice).. didn't really take much note of a 'before'...

It didn't say DSP though, it said DSP-something else (lol i forgot)

When u press 4-6-ON, and then press other buttons it does something else...

5 was the filename/quality of the CD playing, 6 made it really loud and i couldn't control what was happening, 4 was the DSP thing

get a set of 18's in a diff colour. black wheels doesnt do anything for your car. get a bright colour like hyper silver, polished or get a bronze colour.

and then lower it enuf so that it doesnt look like a boat =]

howy
12-11-2009, 08:43 AM
LOL yeah i didn't do so because I didn't want leave all this sticky residue its a hassle.

Nah it's easy!

I had the exact same thought as you before and left on for ages, but it was actually a no fuss task. Just gotta do it.

The glass cleaner that fitme suggested is probably the way to go.

Just use window/glass cleaner.

just use a microfiber cloth and window cleaner, my p plates left residue all over my window which was a bitch to remove... i wanted to relocate mine but cbf cleaning it again LOL so i just leave it on the dash

lower it, once you damage the kit (like me) you cbf looking after it anymore and just go lower lol
bigger rims, 18*7.5 if you dont want scrubbing

I'd say 17-18 is the best fit size for the FD depending on your taste. Personally I hate the mugen grille, either keep it stock or get carbon fiber. I didn't know you can get done for no license plate holder that's pretty rat. BTW what exhaust setup are you running?

well...it's the satisfaction at the end when you finish it...

no offence but if you are sure what you are doing maybe you shouldnt do it

i understand when you DIY there is an element of satisfaction.

but you are talking about your sussy. the sussy hold your entire car.

there is a risk it all goes wrong when you drive.

assumedly you drive as a result of not installing it correctly and get into an accident. your insurance may not pay you if they know you do it as it is not done by license mechanic

if a mechanic do it, they have public liability insurance. i think they are covered

worse still if you injured someone you may be sued too

there is two areas that imho if you are not sure what you are doing to stay away from

brake system
suspension

i am sure there is other area that you can get satisfaction doing DIY

i think it is spring movement. i have some noise in my coilover too in the past. i used to have tein and cusco.. but it is the sound of valves compressing etc... sounds like spring but its not spring.

but make sure you installed everything correctly and sometimes just require greasing... i might also not be spring but something else

if the car is not moving how would the spring move? so maybe its not the spring but something is touching the suspension and causing rubbing sound from the vibration of the car?

did you install the sussy yourself or do you ask a mechanic to do it?

John, can u ask ur mechanic if he knows anything about this?
leo,

hey tim, may i ask if the noise comes from the side where the shaft came out?
i get the same spring type noises when i turn as well. but only on the left side... it also happens to be the side where the drive shaft thingo came out.. im not sure if its related or not. one of my friends told me that it is just noises from the spring moving.. he has the same noise on his s15.

im having the car checked next week. hopefully i'll find the source of the problem and possibly fix it.

ej20i, i think what leo is getting at, is was it installed at your house the first time by yourself, with the help of a mechanic here and there..

and when i installed my n+ for the first time i noticed a pssshhh noise over the bumps but mine was the shock releasing air or something..

when you say with the help of the mechanic. did he has any involvement in installing or all installation was done by yourself? and in what capacity is he involved in...

so if something happen to your car, who will be liable? you or the mechanic?

no money and he is the owner of the garage

to be honest i dont know why he want to do that (installing at home) and later fix it at his workshop (makes no sense to me as it is always easier to install sussy in a hoist and especially if he doesnt get paid, i am sure working in a hoist is faster than working using a jack! which saves more time... plus if he owns a workshop... he can open till whatever time he wants basically.. dedy at top one open late to do favor for his friends but always done all work at his workshops)

if i were your mechanic i will
- do it in my workshop where i have all the tools and proper lighting (especially is dark at night even though you use lighting but it is still dark)
- i cover myself as a mechanic as if something happen when i fix someone else car by public liability insurance cover. i dont know any mechanic is covered by doing other than premise that he supposed doing the job
- involving someone that is not a mechanic like yourself. and if something happen, he will probably just put the blame on you.

your problem could be
- maybe the tension spring might be the problem if you hear a "ding" sound
- maybe not enough grease on the bearing if you hear the clicking sound.

maybe you should ask dedy at top one to have a look at it. but that is what roughly what he said. dont quote me on that, i am just roughly summing up what could be the problem. best to speak to him being the real mechanic as i am not a mechanic either..

does anyone know if the JDM FD2 muffler design is the same like JDM DC5?

as in, it has valving design?

http://www.itr-dc5.com/images/exhaust.jpg

Variable path Exhaust pipes

The Type-R equips a new exhaust muffler that is constructed of variable pipes. The design can change silence priority by leading exhaust gas flow to variable paths with a silencer. At a low rpm region, silence priority becomes first. Sound is reduced and air current is reduced at the same time. As engine speed reaches near the 5,000 rpm, higher exhaust gas output becomes the priority that desires less back pressure. This design bumps up an extra 4 hp and 0.8 kg-m, than the predecessor model. Comparing at 8,000 rpm, about 1/3 of backpressure remains, therefore a large improvement
in the power output was achieved at the dual e-type exhaust pipe. Moreover, sport nature was emphasized by the adoption of a larger diameter finish.

hey wondering, do you guys by default before this change have the bass and treble turned to 6 anyway? i currently have them both up and the speakers seem to be pretty good, no distorting and quite crisp and bassy. whered you get your bars from?

yep, jdmyard

ah cool
but on second look
it looks abit silly lol
because its so short
the EG and DC2 ones were teh hawtness cause they stretched across almost the whole rear

but still nice (Y)

shorter is stronger.. :p

on a side note: it just took me 2hr to fully detail my car (clean, shampoo, wax, polish rims, tire shine, wipe down) totally buggered

has the cusco rear strut bar caused any problems with your undercarriage yet? really need to purchase a rsb soon.

remember how when you was considering buying it a while ago.. there was some talk about sub frames cracking etc.. because it was too stiff or something??

nah, cusco's good.. no problems.. the cusco RSB came with reinforcements so it doesn't rip the endlinks

to be honest, i really dont know yet coz ive got on tanabe coilovers and cusco RSB and i definitely feel improvements in ride and handling performance so its hard to tell if the rear tie-bar does much.. lol

havent pushed the car on the streets, will do so at the track with all my current mods

with a help of a mechanic i did and bring it to his workshop the week after,
aero,
ummm no, coz its both side of the car and i only pop the cv shaft on the right
please update me aero

um yeah. quick update on that spring noise issue with the coilovers. got my car taken into the shop this morning. the guys reinstalled the front struts and made sure everything was tight. also made sure they were sufficiently lubricated.
seems to have done the job thus far. no more spring noises or creaks

ganj3's old car - traded his old FD in. Dealer gave it rims and a spoiler.
