curtis265
01-03-2010, 01:25 PM
Not unless u get a 3A racing filter, hahahahaha

Essentially u want an optimisation between filtration and airflow, and if you've read that completely unbiased PDF report about the different air filters... you'll know what i mean.

Air Filter Shootout (http://www.australianauto.com.au/HTML/Images/Air%20Filter%20Shoot%20Out.pdf)

I dont think that Fujita has designed their CAI down to the filter - i mean, it's a replacable item and all, but i doubt it'll have a heavily influence the ram air effects created

ej20i

this is random question, anyone know how long the oem wheel studs fds are? planning to use 15mm - 20mm hub centric spacers? do i require to change the oem studs to extended studs?

curtis265
01-03-2010, 04:48 PM
You have two sets of bolts for spacers dude... if u use longer bolts, u put shitloads of stress onto the longer bolts.

Stig
01-03-2010, 04:55 PM
this is random question, anyone know how long the oem wheel studs fds are? planning to use 15mm - 20mm hub centric spacers? do i require to change the oem studs to extended studs?

depends, what kind of hubcentric spacers are they?

if they are the bolt on ones like these then no

http://www.isc-warehouse.com/images/products/5x114_L.gif

like these then yes

http://www.midland-ferrari.co.uk/edit/files/type1spacer.jpg

9ineto5ive
01-03-2010, 04:56 PM
is there gonna be enough thread left to hold the 15mm - 20mm spacers on the oem studs?

Stig
01-03-2010, 05:00 PM
it is highly recommended to change to longer studs when using spacers to distribute the load evenly so they dont snap if youre not using bolt on spacers

curtis265
01-03-2010, 05:05 PM
I'd suggest bolt on spacers ey... longer studs is getting dangerous

9ineto5ive
01-03-2010, 05:09 PM
bolt on spacers are the ones with the holes so that the bolt goes flush with the spacers?

curtis265
01-03-2010, 05:11 PM
I think bolt on means that you bolt them on to the hub, then bolt the wheel onto the hub, as opposed to a long stud

Stig
01-03-2010, 05:11 PM
correct!

9ineto5ive
01-03-2010, 05:16 PM
any brand in mind what i should get?

Stig
01-03-2010, 05:55 PM
h&r, ichiba or weds (can get weds from jdmconcept - but they arent hubcentric)

is there a specific size + offset which = concave and how do i find out? - dez/stig?

Stig
02-03-2010, 05:31 PM
depends on what rim and how wide you can go... its mostly all about offset

and seeing what the rim looks like from others

ekdez
02-03-2010, 05:46 PM
depends on what rim and how wide you can go... its mostly all about offset

and seeing what the rim looks like from others

Following on from that,

To achieve a "decent" concave look, you'd need a lowwwwww offset. which on a honda is hard/impossible.

Unless you decide to run something like 18x7.5 +0 offset, but most rim manufacturers choose not to produce those sorts of wheels anymore because there is no demand for them.

But then again, having said that, it all depends on the style of rim.

Its do-able tho.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4018/4207819379_26ffda8400_o.jpg

18x7.5 +22 all round with 225/40/18

And from the looks of it, those rims are pushing the limits..
Could also be the tire too...
Fyi, Euro fitment is similar to fd civic. =]

Stig
02-03-2010, 05:56 PM
yeah although kit is running a 7.5+22... they have been discontinued since 2002 lol so its near impossible to get another set unless you get very lucky

ok guys long awaited news. a new production of rr kits is being produced. it is PP material and is direct replacement of your front bumper and rear bumper. It is as cheap as chips. The bumpers are direct copy of the real mugen rr.

i will be importing it along with rr bonnet and type r spoilers =) gonna give it a try and if anyone wants it i will be happy to import for them. this product is way better and cheaper than the other places out there.

just a quick question which others may/might not know..
do the US FG? have the same body "shape and measurements" as the aus delivered FD?

if thats the case then..
17 X 9 +25 or a lower offset all around will fit ours?

I was just being an idiot before about the n+>tein>bc.

I think you will find "BC Racing" or "Bor Chuan Enterprises" is a manufacturer of coilovers.
And they produce a privately labeled coilovers for other companys. I wouldn't be supprised to find Buddyclub or T1R being made by Bor Chuan Enterprises.. So to say that Buddyclub products are shit, is pretty silly as the coilover that you are looking at most probably comes out of the same factory, just with a different label.

D2 are another manufacturer of coilovers and they produce such coilovers as ksport etc..

Market penetration and flooding the market with your products under different names works.

I was looking at a new set of rims from jdm concept. Just wondeering would 17x7 be too small? need to know more about the camber kits, coil overs, tyre sizes and rim sizes with different offsets.. educate me guys lol... atm just running on 17x7 looks heaspz small and still stock height with a mugen lip kit.

Nup,
Making a modification to your car might/will have a consequence, which will only be apparent if you do it.. if you know what i mean..

They are for FD civics, the springs and the adjuster are seperate to the shock itself if u look carefully... they are put together for the photo only...

Those coilover pics are misleading, not exactly for the FD.

The rear coilover setup is actually separate, not 1 piece (as in the springs and the shocks will sit in different locations).

Referring back to stig. I agree with you that the 17's look a little small but at the same time scrubbing is a big problem when you turn corners or hit a tiny pot hole or even seat a few more mates and the wheels would be scrubbing hard. whereas air sus is different u can adjust height at anytime its convenient. I mean if your willing to drive slow and turn corners lightly then big wheels would be the way to go. So what do you suggest stif even if i go 17's and if i drop it too low it would still scrub in the side at the front when i turn either way and ill have to get a camber kit for sure. Tyres would start going bald inside. Or i have the option of getting spacers but then the wheel guard would scrub either way even if i roll them. hmmz dilemma bro

its not really the size of the rim that makes it scrub. more to do with the width, offset and tyres. u could have 20x8 +42 and still be fine. if ur offset is too low, and tyres are too wide, then u will scrub regardless of whether its 17" or 20".

if ur scared of potholes on a bigger size rim, u could option for a bigger profile of tyres. it can give u slight better comfort and more space between ur rims and the road

ok so.. what is the offset range a fd1 civic can have may i ask? offset has to do with how much it sticks out right yeh from the hub so having said that there is a recommended offset for each car right?

Stig

possibilities are endless for offset and width, easiest way is to pick a wheel you like, see what size, offset and width the manufacture offers and work from there

ive been through the whole spectrum of 16", 17", 18", 19" and 20" wheels while i was on coilovers

if you want 17x7, then you can drop it as low as you want and there wouldnt be any scrubbing issues cos 17x7+45 was the manufactures size for the sport rims

Stig

On what tim?

I used to drive a bodykitted pulsar with around 7cm bumper clearance... Scraped it once or twice when i was still noob, but after a while i got the hang of turning the steering wheel like crazy and going up speedbumps and driveways sideways...

white wheels on silver look aweful, imo. black on silver is better. or even gold/bronze wheels.

yea.. i loved em! they were perfect for the ek.
i'd have been lower to the ground if it wasn't for my driveway :\
the rear arch sat like that over the rim the whole time and the front would tuck most of the tire =]
p.s. you should see my driveway haha oh the amount of damage i did to the road..
