Theirs seem to look OK.

getting out on stupid driveways and stuff!i think i just misjudge on how low my car is
i think its because our Rallye Red is all stock and really doesnt suite the chrome around the car

pairz-reason
09-03-2010, 09:27 AM
absolutely agree my one is red with black rims.. but it looks even worse when i first bought it.. i went red as theres was not much stock left and i had to wait so i stuffed it

yea.. i loved em! they were perfect for the ek.
i'd have been lower to the ground if it wasn't for my driveway :\
the rear arch sat like that over the rim the whole time and the front would tuck most of the tire =]
p.s. you should see my driveway haha oh the amount of damage i did to the road..

for those who has fd2, better off getting the fd2r one and fabricate an extension, the fd2r one is a bit short for our fd2

installed mine today.. coz i got on a FD2R rear bumper, the J's muffler is towards the left

also, theres a gasket provided.. when put on, the bolts coming from the b-pipe arent long enough to connect to the center pipe, so didnt put on the gasket and the guys who installed put some adhesive between the pipe connections

overall, the sound is great with the silencer... also the silencer was already placed in the muffler and i couldnt take it out, its like stuck there.. maybe drive with it for a while and see if it comes abit loose

intakes sound ok, whether sri or cai on an auto. but exhausts are just fail. my car used to be my mother's, hence why it an auto and there is no way i would ever put in a racing exhaust on it.. its just embarrassing lol. ive just changed the exhaust tips and that is just fine by me.

..ohhh how come its not in full length?

i think its the carbon centre lip. usually on the RR there are 2 spoilers. the big mugen RR spoiler and then there is the smaller lip which sits in between it on the boot. im guessing, that's what it is.

Btw how many " exhaust does this guy have? must be loud and a bit slow at take off :D from my noobish senses of impression.

someone educate me more about the air intake. what does difference between the two types?.. i remember a while ago we put in a simota cold air intake in my friend amnual fd1 and the engine light amber light turned on on the dash.. like whats the go with that ?.. had to take it back to honda to reset the computer

ej20i
12-03-2010, 02:38 PM
SRI - Short Ram Intake, where the pod sits in the engine bay sucking hot air in

CAI - Cold Air Intake, where the pod gets a cold air feed from outside better performance obviously

the engine light meaning, thats not the right kit or they didnt take the battery terminal out when installing

i finally figured out why that car looks weird... it needs to be lowered!

FallenAngel
12-03-2010, 08:47 PM
it also could be that the front is lower than the rear.

Some people dont like it but i do =D

aero
12-03-2010, 08:52 PM
i like the front being lower than the rear, but both could still be lowered further

JOhnnyFD
12-03-2010, 10:13 PM
so since i installed the muffler and catback.. i kinda noticed my car feeling "lighter" than before

when i mean by "lighter".. i mean as in the car accelerates better/quicker than before

and also by "lighter".. the J's muffler was heaps lighter in weight compared to my previous X-Force muffler which was huge and yet the J's gives an awesome and louder sound than the X-Force.. and also the weight of the midpipe + resonator is lighter than the stock (reason being the material and also the stock resonator is bigger than the J's)

but all in all, it could either be my imagination but i just cant help but notice the difference

gotta take it to a muffler exhaust shop first to try to align the muffler abit to the right (coz of the FD2R rear bumper) b4 taking a vid

FallenAngel

I think you're talking about better engine response johnny =]

ekdez
13-03-2010, 01:15 PM
you do get better engine response.
just remember you get what you pay for ;)
you buy xforce.. don't expect much besides sytle and sound..
you buy something decent and you get results.. hence why i said do it right first time =]

good to hear you loving the full catback system from j's!! best sound! its so raw!

JOhnnyFD
13-03-2010, 01:51 PM
hahah yeaa

reason i got X-Force was a quick fix as i didnt know when installin the FD2R bumper back then that it touched the oem muffler.. thus got sometime simple

update, managed to fix the J's muffler to fit nicely with the FD2R rear bumper and was able to get the silencer out... was about to take vid but then it started to sprinkle

new mods.. some jdm bumper stickers lol

QUESTION: how is our rear suspension held in?
like for coilovers you have the spring and the spring perch...
how is the spring perch held in up the top to stop it from falling out? is it glued in? bolted?
or does our shock hold the LCA parallel so that it cant fall out

nothing, just by the bump on the chassis and the strenght of the spring that holds it up!

johnny has fd2r kit his fits perfect lol. and i bet u in no time tim's kit is gna get melted LOL

at first the J's muffler was leaning to the left on my FD2R rear bumper, it wasnt touching the bumper but was really close to it.. since stock rear bumper has the muffler towards the left

so went to a exhaust muffler shop to get it fixed... if your muffler isnt in the right position to fit your rear bumper, go to a muffler exhaust shop that does good welding and fitting

21-03-2010, 01:34 AM
Hi Guys, hoping to get some advise...

I've got Work Emotion CR Kai's on my FD that I just bought. According to the ex-owner specs are

17x7.5 +25 Front with 215/45/17
17x8.5 +33 Rear with 225/45/17

The offset on the front seems really low, but that is not the problem... problem is the rear. The car is on Tein springs and it scrubs when taking hard corners, large pot holes and with ppl in the back (usual causes).

I have already rolled the guards on the rear, but they still scrub.

I am thinking of getting camber kits + coils, even then will the scrubbing be fixed? Or should I just change rims? and what spec on a 17 would be ideal?

Thanks!

curtis265
21-03-2010, 01:36 AM
I think you need a bit of camber. Screw getting new rims, so troublesome.

Can we have a fitment pic?

21-03-2010, 01:37 AM
man thats some fkn crazy specs! show us some pictures

Stig
21-03-2010, 01:44 AM
the problem might be is you're scrubbing the rear bar (the area where the screws holds the rear bar into place), that's where i'm scrubbing essentially

solution:
1) camber kit + coils but no guarantee that will solve your problem depending on how low/high your ride height is
2) chuck a 215 on the rear and see how that goes
3) get new rims, ive ran x7.5+42 fronts with a 225 and 8.5+42 rear with a 235 without any problems

Haven't taken any photos of the car, so I'll re-use what he posted. I believe you guys would have seen this FD before, I did read about the scrubbing issue he was having somewhere, but had no idea it would still scrub after rolling guards.

This is current - The rims have been re-sprayed.

@ Stig - Actually still scrubbing on the rear bar and the guard. Ride height would be maintained at the current height if changing to coils cos I've got to cross a freaking huge hump everyday and don't want to lower anymore than it already is.

evolution, just change new rims yo!
those are crazy offset
for a daily just get a safer offset some where between +40 and +45 would be ideal

for a daily, the specs on those rims are just too much, even my t1s is giving me such a headache daily, hence i run stock rims sometimes :)

I just pulled my fronts off - 17x7.5+30.

Thanks for the input guys.. Is there a reason why a Civic would need staggered rims rather than 4 rims that are the same specs? Is it because the rear of the car is wider?

If I'm getting new rims, I would prefer to get 4 of the same so that I can rotate them around.

there's no need for staggered wheels on the fd. its a honda and fwd, so.. getting wider wheels on the rear doesnt improve much. just for looks

Just move the bolt on the rear bar that still scrubbing. I normally flip the tyres inside out for staggered rims like mine.

Don't dare to remove the bolt...., but your method of swaping the tires around is a great idea Dan!

hi, just another noob question :D what spec should i look for for hassle free rims, (please dont answer stock rims :D i already know that will fit). Mostly concerned about the offset atm cus looking at you guys getting all this issues. want something 17" or 18" but need to know what offset and 17or18/?? +?? value for both front and back. thx

Something like 18x8 +45 or 18x7.5 +42 is fine without hassles. Safe specs

All the issues can be fix. It's just the matter on how far you're willing to fix it.

^^ same goes with 17s.
safe offset is around the +40s, provided that u dont go wider than 8" on the rim.
u can fit lower offset and wider rims on the car, but it will just cost u more money to run them with minimal scrubbing. low offset and stretched tyres looks tough tho :p

22-03-2010, 05:18 PM
i've got 18x8 +40 with 225/40 tyres and get minimal scrubbing only on the left side... it annoys the shits through me but thats only if you corner hard/tight bends

so just drive safe ;)

sorry to say but,

18x8 +45 is going to be worse off then 18x7.5 +42.

Also running a 18x8 +45 your going to run into problems if your not at stock ride height. i know for a fact the stock perches on a fd will hit the tire if its not thin enough. yes i know half of us run coils but the people running the spring option which is lower then 1" will find it scrubs on the front.

The difference may seem small between those two specs given, 9mm inner clearance and 3 mm outer but 1 cm inner clearance might be easier to fix, but when you run spacers to fix that problem your going to run into other problems.

Most of people looking for the ideal fit arent going to run silly tire specs so and choose to have the standard fitment.. so

my suggestion is to run 17 or 18x7.5 or 8 +35~40 if u can find it. with a 215/40 profile. im sure others will back me up on this.

p.s. please don't take offense to this.. its just my opinion.

lol none taken man. uve been thru more sets than i. but ive ran 8" +45 on my car as a test from one of my friends wheels n had no probs on them. perhaps my coils allowed for more inner clearance? *shrugs*

a question on running stretched tyres. is it legal to have them if the load rating meets the requirements of the car? cant remember what our ones are 91Y or somthing?
lets say i have a 9" wide rim and i place some 215 wide tyres, but with a load rating of like 93. is that ok? or will cops still bust my balls?

if you take your wheels off then they suggest you should align your wheels again.

if you touch the suspension in any way, then most definitely you'll need to align your wheels again.

just another question will 97 prelude wheels fit in the civic fd1?

i think is
5X144 16X6.5 +55 i think this is the Tyre size 205/50 R16 87V tires

http://images.craigslist.org/3nf3kc3m15T15Pc5Rca3j4490e36731be1008.jpg

i have matched them up with the back wheel look about the same but the tire is about 1" ~ 1.5" wider but too lazy to take my wheels off to check cus only have 3atm in the garri lolz.

should be 5 x 114.

They should fit but the offset will be terrible (I know cause I use accord rims as dailys haha and they are +55 IIRC)
