the honda that i go to are normally nice to me, but i dont think they'd appreciate me rocking up with a fully modified car LOL
and asking them to fix my air bag problem. lol maybe next service illl ask, cos its in 2000kms

from 8thgen civic

No I never found out a way to bypass it. The light is still on. There is a thread somewhere on here from a guy that got into and accident that had aftermarket seats and his airbags all deployed properly.

The only thing that that the car can't read is the the weight sensor in the passenger seat, so that airbag will deploy wether someone is sitting in the seat or not.

yeah i suppose its all hear say...

I would recommend getting the seats. I used to have a couple sparcos in my car and I just used my car to go to school and work. No racing or anything. As for the airbag light its not a big deal. The whole point of the side airbags is to keep you braced in your seat incase of an accident, but most aftermarket seats provide that snug fit anyway so its not too big of deal imo.

and yeah i saw some of your posts stig LOL.. oh well's they are already in atm. so i might as well leave them..
but im definitely gonna be looking for a solution

Stig
19-04-2010, 03:25 PM
yeah its not a big fuss if the airbag light is on or not, its just annoying a red light from a green and blue dash haha

longers
19-04-2010, 06:34 PM
im sure they'll be happy to help you out, just don't contact them if something goes wrong in relation to the air bag etc. they'll probably tell you they will take no liability if your airbags don't deploy.

As for the airbag light? Terry over at Griffin Motorwerk sells single sided resistors that send the proper current without shorting **** out, they're recommended by Bride, Recaro and Sparco. They also did the Tein / K&N Sema Si's. So they definitely have experience. The price is roughly about 57 bucks a piece plus 15 shipping. So definitely not expensive and definitely worth it just to get rid of the nag light, give him a call at: 510-524-7447. He also sells Recaros and is about 15 minutes away from Wedge, so you can easily get an entire package from these guys.

maybe that helps?

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/inside-out/105237-aftermarket-seat-drivers-side-only-2.html

Ok, I have been getting quite a few PMs about this so I thought I would add some more info about how to do this modification. Bear in mind that the pictures suck, but they should be enough to answer most questions.

So, lets start at the beginning again. And bear in mind that all of the info I am supplying is based on what I did in my case. will other things work as well? sure possibly... I dont know... but everything Im listing as a "fact" is based on my personal testing so may be open for other methods.

when you remove the stock seat, you have to re-use the stock seatbelt latch and latch locking system (explosive charge that looks like a tube mounted to the latch)

Also, there is a small sensor that is mounted under the stock seat that reads where the seat is in relation to the steering wheel. My assumption is that this varies the intensity of the airbag explosion based on how far away you are from the airbag when it fires.
This sensor MUST be remounted and reused. You'll have to do your own research on where to mount this, but basically its a proximity sensor. Look under your stock seat and move the sliders back and forth to see when and where it 'sees' something in it proximity, and transfer that thinking to the new seat. (I cant really get to into this part since I think I might have just gotten lucky with mine, and it will be different locations based on your choice of mounting bracket and sliders etc.)

So, after that is done, you will only have one remaining plug, which is a yellow plug with a black surround on it. it has 4 female holes, and only the 2 center ones are used, so thats where the resistor goes.

RESISTOR INFO:
I couldnt find a 2.5 ohm resistor locally, so I did some math on what values I would need to run in parallel to achieve a similar impedance. I dont recall how that worked out, but if you google how to calculate resistor impedance, you should be able to figure it out. In my case it took 5 or 6 resistors in parallel to get it down to a 2.5-ish load. So I wound them all together soldered them, taped them up and ended up with a close-enough value to roll with it.
seen here:
http://www.six25creative.com/ykpics/airbag/resistorbundle.jpg

http://www.six25creative.com/ykpics/airbag/impedance.jpg

Then I stuck it in the plug:

http://www.six25creative.com/ykpics/airbag/resistorinplug.jpg

http://www.six25creative.com/ykpics/airbag/beforetape.jpg

Then after it was in the plug, I taped it all up, and tucked it under the seat.
http://www.six25creative.com/ykpics/airbag/finished.jpg

Final notes:
Ok, well, after this was completed, I thought that it didnt work, since teh light didnt immediately turn off. So, I thought I might have to go to a dealership to have them reset the airbag system with their diagnostic tools, but before I could schedule an appointment, the light turned off on its own, maybe 3-4 days after the install.

All has been good ever since, including the fact that everything worked when I was hit by a lady running a stop sign as I mentioned in a post above.

I hope this helps make things at least a little clearer for people, even though I admit I have left a few 'blanks' that you guys will have to figure out on your own. I never intended this to be a full how-to... Im not going to hold people's hands on projects like this. If you dont feel comfortable experimenting with this a bit, I would strongly suggest NOT swapping seats. It isnt a simple project, and requires some creativity, and problem solving.

So again, if this info doesnt make it clear enough for you, then YOU PROBABLY SHOULDNT BE TRYING THIS PROJECT.

^ that would only work for the drivers side. the passenger's side has a sensor in it which deactivates the airbags if it senses that the passenger is a small child, or an adult sitting awkwardly.

^ that would only work for the drivers side. the passenger's side has a sensor in it which deactivates the airbags if it senses that the passenger is a small child, or an adult sitting awkwardly.

I think it's this:

Your sensors. You will have two sensors in total for the switch. Two females in the car, two males on the seat, for each seat.
One is the seatbelt sensor to know whether or not your seatbelt is connected.
The other is one I'm not totally sure of. However, this is what I know. It is the weight sensor on the passenger side to let the car know whether or not to deploy the airbag in the event of an emergency. If the weight is under "x" amount (I can't remember what the manual says, refer to it to get an exact number).. you'll see the light on your dash that says "OFF". This is to ensure that if you had a baby seat in the front, the airbag would not go off and potentially kill the baby.
This sensor is the infamous sensor that everyone says you need a resistor for. I've tried 2ohms, 2.5ohms and 3ohms, all of which have failed. However, I'm not electrical saavy, I may have been doing it wrong, but it didn't turn the light off for me. If you have a voltmeter, you can check exactly what ohms you need.

Studs are cheap.

In my old riced-pulsar, the mechanic used the air wrench to tighten the nuts. When i tried to take the nut off, it snapped the stud

New stud: $3 or something like that :S

Tim, why not get the insurance company to pay you out just for the bodykit?

E.g. get them to quote the cost of the modulo, then ask them if you can get that payed out instead...
then you can use that money to get the mugen or whatever you like. (genuine modulo should cover the cost of the mugen + paint, hehe)

brembo rotors
oe replacement

2.0--282mm-- $300+-

comes in pairs

limited supply only

ou can have Brembo quality in original equipment replacement brake rotors that are fully compatible with your vehicle's original brake system. And as you would expect, Brembo Brake Rotors are designed to equal or exceed the performance of the original equipment rotors that came on your vehicle. For that matter, in order to provide higher levels of performance and comfort, Brembo even developed one-piece cast brake rotors to replace original equipment two-piece brake rotors that feature economically stamped steel centers fastened to the braking surfaces.
Starting with a casting from a Brembo foundry that assures uniform thickness, Brembo Brake Rotors are machined to exacting tolerances (the rotor run-out tolerance is only 0.0025%, about half of the industry norm), feature a braking surface finish (ground or fine turned) compatible with the vehicle's OE specifications and are electronically balanced to minimize the possibility of vibration.
Brembo offers its brake rotors with the same levels of quality, technology and performance that have earned it Dodge Viper, Ferrari, Ford Mustang Cobra and Mercedes-Benz OEM fitments. All Brembo OE Replacement Rotors are manufactured under QS-9000 and ISO 9001 certifications to ensure the highest level of quality. Brembo brake rotors offer applications for most every automobile & domestic to import, compact car to luxury SUV.
NOTE: Brembo Rotors should always be installed in axle pairs to maintain the most effective brake performance.

Together with its unique know-how in the manufacturing of braking systems for high performance vehicles, Brembo is able to guarantee top quality standards and the most advanced technological knowledge, making it a world market leader in its sector. Brembo brake rotors are the natural choice for use in the most sophisticated sports vehicles and high-class saloon cars. Its skill ensures an unsurpassable performance level in the best cars produced in Europe, the USA and Japan today.
The electronic balancing system allows to eliminate any possible difference in the weight split of vented discs, avoiding vibration risks.

The perfectly uniform thickness of the braking surfaces ensures top performance, maximum comfort and much higher durability of the components.

The precise finish of the braking surface, ground or fine turned depending on OE specifications, ensures improved pad-discs fit and better running-in.

The extremely precise tolerance guarantees correct run-out values and the elimination of several types of disc vibrations.
Features:
• Maximum safety in time:
Careful design, based on advanced calculation systems, controls the heat transmission from the braking surface to the hat section.
• Advanced solutions:
the use of specific cast irons, coming from the integration of foundries in the production process, allows for exclusive technical and planning know-how.
• High comfort and longer durability:
Exact tolerances guarantee maximum performance of braking system components.
• Better synergy between the friction material and disc:
Careful finishing guarantees a turned or ground braking surface as for Original Equipment specifications.
• Reduction of vibration risks:
An electronic balancing system is used during the production process to eliminate possible unbalanced weight distribution of ventilated discs.

FML!!

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn72/puff_doggy/T1S%20TRIAL/myproblem.jpg

i think i might have to cut away the plastic covering the fuel line?

but what about the other side :(... i dunno what might hit on that side...

maybe i should run the 9.5 at the front :O

wow that last shot was a bit distressing, dez. what's the offset on ur t1s btw?

ekdez
12-05-2010, 10:35 PM
mm well my friend suggested..

maybe i should, take the fuel plastic cover off and then use that heat wrap stuff.. that people wrap headers with to cover my fuel lines...

they are 19x8.5 +25 and 19x9.5+30 for the T1S

as a wise man once said.. " with a will there is a way " and i say, " ill make it fit! " haha

Hey dez, it's a bit strange for offset +30 on your 9.5 will hit the plastic. My iForged was +35 and when i sold it a guy who drives FD1 it never had any problems hitting the inside. You should have gone with offset 0 :p

ekdez
13-05-2010, 11:05 AM
ok well i was just thinking.. maybe it has something to do with my camber kit?

plus i did those calculations.. using that website.

going from x9 +35 to a x9.5 +30
Inner Clearance: 1mm LESS <- so maybe my LM's were touching the plastic as well.. but because my camber kit as a certain degree of camber, this makes the wheel travel parallel to the plasitc covering my fuel line..? mad theory there :D
Outer Position: EXTEND an extra 11mm <- to be flush :P

My camber was -6 both on my euro & odyssey and they never touch the innerside. I think Ivan's 9.5 also doesn't touch the innerside.
