Somewhere in the garage . Preferred the drl with the headlights.

I like my rims ^^

If I dropped it it wouldnt be enough to enter the basement parking of my apartment. If I go down straight now it scrapes on a curve 2mm left. That's why no lowered cars in the apartment lol.

It's not really. It's a mod thread. At least there have been posts of mods with photos, rather than just chat about what we want but can't afford. Props to artithyn for building his car how he wants.

Yeh what aero said ;)

Ordering the mesh now but has to be custom to match the existing one since it didn't come with it because that's where the huge foggies were meant to be. My windscreen will look too plain without the Honda sticker. Got a better idea in a sticker :p ??

We should all meet up Tuesday night somewhere  before everyone changes their car and I'm still stuck with my Fd :( !!

Strip of tint sound alright. Not a fan of too many stickers personally, but looks nice if built right.

xenonkuraz
20-02-2011, 12:45 PM
Well I like how you got away from the "pure replica" thing and did the drls. I reckon they're cool. Rims are nice too but everyone has their own preferences. In the end if you're happy it's all good! But keep in mind when you have something different people like to put forward their criticisms. It's up to you which ones to take in and which ones to ignore :D

how did you wrap your door sills? Did you have to take them off?

Mine are all sundamaged and faded and I was considering wrapping or painting them

aero
22-02-2011, 06:40 PM
mine are faded also.. was thinking of just painting them over lol..

anyway, just got defected on my way home for having my wheels sticking outside my guards :(
minor defect. only $100 and 1 demerit point.
the officer also told me i should raise my car xD

must get camber arms asap to get those +20 wheels tucked lol.

aznboiio1
22-02-2011, 06:48 PM
lol stig sell me your clips :)

xenonkuraz
22-02-2011, 07:48 PM
I didn't know that was a rwc issue? if so lame one.

my mechs usually only check brakes, tyres, seatbelts, lights and handling

Stig
22-02-2011, 08:59 PM
aznboiio1 i was gonna let go of my clips to you but now i need them, i got desperate for an rwc so i went to a place near my house, thought it would be a simple drive in drive out like in springvale, took all morning -_-

not bringing my evo there for sure, would fail so much LOL

the guy who i usually go to just.. looks at it... waves his hand under the car to clear height, check tyres, wobble the seats... done, 10min job, easy 100, but vicroads took his logbook for inspection so i couldnt go there LOL

aznboiio1
22-02-2011, 09:19 PM
fark thats just bad luck T_T,
on another note, got a quote for my 10k service, $300, i just cant justify paying $300, whereas midas are having a special atm for $55,
for the complete service, change filters, etc buh only give 5L of oil, both using similiar oil, where you can pick it from supercheap..
and i need to replace em clips, theres like 10 of em,

aerithyn
23-02-2011, 12:09 AM
Got them seats in today took ages!! Finished with no airbags for safety and no seatbelt lol just the harness which sticks you to the seat like bird shit on a sunnyday.

which 4 point harness and how much?

Monza red 4 pointers except I ripped the logos off ^^ for 89 pair. ADR approved not rta approved ..

how much are those mirrors?

approx 200bux + shipping from phils.. made in taiwan.. they're plastic with blue glass

still abit expensive for a replica would probably become cheaper when everyone starts to produce them

I'm new to this forum, thought I might share a few pictures and input something. So far I've done very little to my car:

Sound:
Sub + Amp (Kicker)

Exterior:
18" Verde rims
Midnight tints
HID's

Interior:
Changed all my interior lights to LED.
OEM accent lights.

mmm any recommendations for a audio setup for under $500?
looking for front, rears and an amp to power em, and the associated cabling/components.
ive asked around, and the specs dont seem to appealling TT,

Stig
25-02-2011, 09:36 PM
$500 is a bit of a tight budget considering most of the cabling will cost you around 100-150$ depending on what you need (the power cable will add up and recommendation is 4 gauge minimum)

aznboiio1
25-02-2011, 10:36 PM
imo worked all holidays, paid of uni fees, buy textbooks/etc, pay for servicing car, and other stuff, only leaves me with $500 rofl,
wait $300 if i get someone to install my double din deck professionally TT,
unless ill pay someone here to do it for me @ a cheaper rate :D, ive got no experience wat so ever

I would have to assume no? cos if you think about it, in order to run the fd2r front bar you need wider fenders, so the bar is wider than a FL FD front bar

In short, the Mugen FD2R lip is wider than the FL FD2 front bar?

Unless someone proves me wrong lol but that's my assumption

Nice rims ekdez.

I don't have any good pics yet, but car can go low. Will post some pics when I got time.

Ride quality is excellent in my opinion, feels like a different car. Excellent value for money is all I can say, top quality coilover. No problems so far. Highly recommended for someone who is after a fully adjustable coilover setup, without needing to spend huge amounts of money.

My friend who tested as driver & passenger said ride quality is comparable to his DC5R with Tein Flex coilovers.

Spring rate is 6kg Front, 6kg Rear

Softest setting is slightly harder than stock, more firm. However still had too much body roll for my liking. Tested with a few different settings, since lowering car, it tended to bounce a bit through deep pot holes/rough roads.

The best for me so far is setting front damper to 17 & 18 clicks for the rear (for track, this can be set much higher without issues). Increasing the damper to this setting seems to provide the best 'in-between' for street, not soft & not too hard. Any higher, car would feel too hard/harsh for Perth streets. The roads here are not all smooth, some a very rough, old, uneven. Each person may have their own individual taste, but I like my car to be stiff for a more controlled & firmer ride. Due to the higher damper settings, I also adjusted the tyre pressures to accommodate, 38psi front & 36psi.

After wheel alignment got camber dialed in at: -1 front & approx -2.2 for rear, +0.8 toe in the rear, the car grips through the corners. You can even say car feels like it's on rails.

Body roll has reduced immensely, however I also got a Ultra Racing 19mm rear ARB & TC Sportline Front Strut Bar installed which also improve handling. Even for a stock car, just coilovers will make a great improvement in handling.

Overall, this is a quality product & worth the money. Not many other coilovers can provide as much functionality for this price.

so want to buy these now. I have a set a set of pedders springs on and I'm not satified with handling yet, great write up mate, you have me convinced!

Yeh they should fit, ive got the skunk2 one and to be honest they dont feel that great, they just shorten it by decreasing the leverage.

curtis265
02-03-2011, 09:17 PM
decreasing the throw, not so much leverage.

u need a combo of both to get a decent short shift.. maybe consider chopping the stick? haha

i love and hate the FD shfiter, throw angle feels like a lot but the throw isn't really that long... are there any short shifter kits? I know there are some for the civic si in the US but that's for the 6 speed (no sure if we have the same deal here.. or if it fits the 5 speed gearbox)

it's a full on shifter replacement. http://www.twmperformance.com/shortshifters/hondashortshifters/honda-06civic-gateway.htm

TWM make awesome shifters, having used them in my last three cars.

I have never actually seen damage caused by shortshifters, so many people use them with no issues - if there really were problems, you would hear about it alot.

JDMyard sell mugen short shifters - They may be titled under FN2, but are compatible with FD, I am currently using it - the throw is not really shortened a great deal, but the feeling of shifting is far more solid and noticeable.

DuffyFD
03-03-2011, 12:35 AM
What else can we do to fix the shifting experience. A guy on 8th Gen Forums wrote a post about modding the shifting experience on a Si..

But what do we have in Aus that's compatible. All we can do is put better transmission fluid in i guess?

curtis265
03-03-2011, 12:44 AM
might be compatible, just gotta know if it fits the lx/ex/dx models

EGB

change the shifter bushings (where the shifter cables connect to the gearbox). These are also available from TWM performance - will provide a notchier feeling

u shouldnt need camber arms to pull off 8" +35 on 215/40 tyres. i was running 9" +35 with no problems with scrubbing on the rear. my guards had been rolled, but they're not fully flat. id just call it a mild roll.

depending on coilovers as well
stig was running teins, harder spring rate than the tanabe (correct me if im wrong)
i was looking at spacers on saturday, and we fit a 6mm spacer, looked ok to me den we fit a 18x9 +35, from the drop, it looked like it wont scrub with a 225
roll ur guards first den see how it goes

im running cheapo d2 coils. ive had the dampers at hardest, softest and medium settings on the rear at certain stages and still had no rubbing on a full car load when i had 9" +35 on 215/40 tyres. i guess guard rolling helps out a lot. also no scrubbing on 9" +30... but major headaches with 9" +20. camber kit should make them tuck

ekdez
06-03-2011, 07:02 PM

DuffyFD

Would it make much difference if installed a set of coilovers (either thinking the BC Racing ones or Stig's Cusco Zero GT's) over what I'm currently on which is stock shocks and pedders sport springs?

Good bang for buck?

FD2, looking to run

17x8.5 +30 w/ 225/45 all round, rolled guards and front and rear camber kit, with coilovers.

should I have any issues?

.k.
08-03-2011, 11:21 AM
Duffy i believe there would be considerable difference between coils and shocks - depending on what you buy, different spring rates/dampening options which would make your ride/ride comfort different?

And EGB don't think you'll have problems mate, if anything happens just down it to 225/40 or 215/45/40 and you should be sweet? :))

on another note,
anyone use these T1R B-Max 52 Coilovers for their fd?

EGB
20-03-2011, 11:15 AM
I currently use T1R coilovers, to soft for my liking - Ive had Buddy Club RSD and Monoflex previously on my other cars.

The spring rates are 8 and 6, can be bumpy on bad roads (Parra rd etc.) The 52mm shock body absorbs bumps well throughout all damper settings.

So much confusion with speaker size for FD2. What size are the fronts and rear? Can 6.5" fit without modifying the car door? Searched but couldnt find anyone with a definite answer.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Stig

6.5" but you have to have a spacer in between to clear the bigger magnet in the hole, some filing is needed too

Thanks Stig. And the spacers and filings are something you can just buy right? So no need to do cutting or mods on the car door itself? What about 6"? Will they just sit in perfectly? Any noticable difference other than size?

Stig

spacers you can make out of MDF yourself, what I did was cut my stock speakers out and use the frame to mount my aftermarket ones on (cos i didnt want to drill new holes into the door), but i found out the new speaker cone was to big for the hole so i had to file the hole and made it slightly bigger.

if you used a thicker spacer it might solve this problem, but you might find it hard to put the door trim back in, so what i also did was cut the plastic on the door trim which encloses the speaker, you'll understand what i mean when you give it a shot yourself

Shimian

cool. Just dont want it to be super complex. You mean cutting the plastic grill circle so the aftermarket speaker sticks out?

Now to start getting the parts together. BTW, do you have a secondary battery? Or a 450 is enough?

if it says 'Replace Spark plugs (Only Platinum/Iridium if due)' and i bring my own, does this mean they have to replace them as part of the major service? or will they charge extra. Dont want to get ripped.

DuffyFD

you should not get charged more, just they will not support warranty on the parts. That's my experience

cool im fine with that. My current spark plugs are aftermarket since 5,000km service. Last time they charged me $80 to change them. My concern is that list above is not for the Civic FD2 but taken from external party. I guess ill ask before booking my service
