I need some pillow ball upper strut tops (camber adjustable).

I'm currently running cusco zero gt coilovers with the stock strut tops, but I need more camber ( I already have camber bolts).

Who knows where to get some aftermarket strut tops?

aero
16-09-2011, 11:20 AM
LoL wut? U need more camber? What are ur wheel specs?

DuffyFD
16-09-2011, 12:44 PM
It's the front that's the problem. Scrubbing problems

Running 17x8 +10 (+30 rim with 20mm spacer). with a 205/45R17.

If I could source some 195 tyres for the front, that would be amazing, however I've found nothing so far.

Guards are rolled, just still scrubbing badly.

I actually found that the max camber I get on driver side (1.5deg), I can't get on the passenger side (I'm getting max around .5 - 1deg). It's something to do with my strut top I think.

If I can get the proper strut tops, then I can get another degree of camber which will stop the scrubbing.

aero
16-09-2011, 12:51 PM
spacer too big man. just save urself some time and get some 10mm spacers. it'd still look flush, plus u wouldn't have to compromise handling by adding some negative camber to the front wheels

DuffyFD
16-09-2011, 01:26 PM
It would be nice if i could keep the stance as i have it now.

Maybe I put the 20mm spacers on the back and then run 10's on the front.

What's a decent brand for 10mm spacers? They would need to be bolt ons..

Questions about adjusting low bream HID on fd civics.

1. Is there only one nut/cog to adjust on each headlight unit?

2. Will I have to remove the battery or plastic bottle to get to the one on the passenger side?

curtis265
16-09-2011, 07:48 PM

So, I just jam a screwdriver or something pointy into those teeth and move them up and down, or can I just use a spanner or something and turn the top bit?

So, I just jam a screwdriver or something pointy into those teeth and move them up and down, or can I just use a spanner or something and turn the top bit?

the one at the btm is to adjust up and down, best/easier to use a short philips screwdriver, and the one at the top is like hidden under the trim, so you cant stick a screwdriver in,
i think you might damage it if you start sticking stuff into the teeth.

ej20i
18-09-2011, 08:06 AM
the best way on adjusting your headlight beam aim. instead of using a short screwdriver, use an 8mm ratchet, because you can just keep turning and not have to take it out and position your screwdriver again.

since we don't have projectors, don't use the wall as a guidance, go to a flat space (like a carpark) with no light and do one light at a time (unplug the other)

curtis265
18-09-2011, 12:56 PM
wut? just jam the screwdriver into the cog and turn it with it's teeth... I'd also recommend going into a flat carpark instead of a garage wall too

guys would 17x9.5 +40 fit at the rears? and 17x8.5 +30 at fronts? looking to go back to 17 rims lol

aero
26-09-2011, 08:47 PM
Front specs are fine but the rear may be a problem. Offset is too high and u might have some inner scrubbing problems or the rim will be hitting ur rear shock. If ur looking at these from someone local to u, I suggest a trial fit.

ekay1
26-09-2011, 09:03 PM
17x 9.5 + 40 wont fit man. Im running 17 x 9 + 38 and its like skimming the rear strut. The rim on the left rear has made a hole through the plastic which protects the fuel lines.... with your fitment it'll go through that lol. Btw saw your car at EW the other night, looks nice!

black8thgen

n no scrubbing issues?

ekay1
30-09-2011, 07:31 PM
215/40/17 shouldnt scrub alot...... depends how hard you lower it too. I'm running 225/45/17, its a bit too chunky, rear rubs on the tabs even though ive shaved most of it off.

DuffyFD
30-09-2011, 08:04 PM
205 45 r17 all round, loving life - actually if there was a 195 width in a 17 inch i would have run that on the front.

I picked a pair of 205 45 r17 KU31's yesterday for 145 a piece. How does that fair in terms of most prices? I haggled down from $175 a piece

ekay1
30-09-2011, 08:11 PM

I got my ku31s in 215/40/17 for $125 each at option 1 here in bris. No scrubbing issues at all and that when I was at my lowest as well.

I also used the same set of tyres on my bbs wheels with no scrubbing.. However that was after I got my camber arms for the rear wheels

black8thgen
30-09-2011, 10:34 PM
hmm found a set of rims in 17x8.5 +30, prob gonna go for those =D

actually.. what do u guys reckon?

enkei rpf1 in silver or white 17x9 +35

or

rays te37 in white or any other colour 17x8.5 +30

aero
30-09-2011, 10:49 PM
Te37 only start going concave at around 17x9 +22 I think .. So I say go with the rpf1s in white 17x9 +35 or +22

black8thgen
30-09-2011, 10:57 PM
yeah i think at 17x8.5 theyre just flat. the dish of the rpf1s in 17x9 is pretty tempting.... but always wanted te37s lol, however thinking of selling the car in the not too far away future... which rims u rkn would hold value better?

aero
30-09-2011, 11:07 PM
Depends in the condition they both are. Genuine volks will always fetch a good price, but enkeis are cheap and hold their value well. They're the best value jdm wheels imo

ekay1
30-09-2011, 11:10 PM
The rpf1's dont have that much dish. Why not some meshies for dish.

black8thgen
30-09-2011, 11:33 PM
well the te37s are in bronze, but i'l respray them white most likely, or maybe takata green =P. So yeah both sets would be say perfect condition.

225/60/16? wow thats really big lol. Personally, if i turbo'd, i would go something like 235/40/18 or something along the lines of that. The stock FD2R rims are like 18 x 8 or similar with 225/40/18 or something like that.

depends on how often you drive or how hard you drive, but its costing me like 2-3x of what it cost to run the fd

350km out of a tank sounds alright, until you realise that its a 55lt tank and it costs you 80$ each time to fill up lol

alot of different fluid changes as well, its best to DIY this stuff cos it can cost up to 1k to change all fluids if you dont know how to do them vs ~300$

black8thgen
03-10-2011, 09:28 PM
man... thats some intense maintenance lol.. any idea how those costs go against a golf r/gti? id imagine the golf wouldnt be too much more than an fd?

Stig
03-10-2011, 09:48 PM
the cost of a golf r would be similar to an evo imo as its 4wd, maybe just a tad less

i'd imagine the golf gti would be similar to the fd but recommended regular oil changes every 5,000km or so

but european cars are more of a headfk to maintain than jdm cars lol

esp if you have to go to the stealership to get something done, latersss

black8thgen
03-10-2011, 10:01 PM
well besides the ridiculous dealership charges.. what else would be that much worse than jdm cars?

Stig
03-10-2011, 10:11 PM

don't copper is a better conductor of electricity than iridium. iridium just lasts longer.. and since ur spark plugs are very easily accessible, you're not going to make any savings on reducing the service interval (basically they're not under the car like on subies)

Stig

waste of money for gains on the stock engine

ekay1
06-10-2011, 06:18 PM
As stig said, there is pretty much no difference. Its hard to get power from the r18a unless you spend alot of money, turbo it or supercharge.

Areis

I have the fd2, so it's a K series engine :S does that make a difference...

also hard to get gains from the k20z2. not as easy as all the other k series motors

black8thgen
06-10-2011, 11:21 PM
no point fitting an exhaust from another car tbh. layout work will be a bitch. and the compression ratio for the engines are probably different meaning it wont help but make sound, probably make u lose low end power in the end so yeah waste of money. just get a muffler if u want sound and spend the rest on handling mods

ekay1

K&N drop in got a 5whp increase from stock..

"
We were able to dyno a car stock filter vs K&N drop in vs SRI and CAI.

First was a baseline run of the stock filter, peak power of 132hp@6000rpm to the wheels.

Next we replaced it with the K&N drop in and got 137hp@6000rpm, a gain of 5 horses.

We then tried a CAI, which turned out exactly the same power intake.

Then SRI, same results, stock power.

our final test consisted of dynoing the car, with the filter box open, in having the intake fully open. And it made almost the same power as the K&N drop in.

Conclusion: Honda did a damn fine job when it designed the intake and the stock airbox is not a source of restriction."

12-10-2011, 07:39 AM
DIY all the way.. I would rather spend my budget on a rear sway bar plus lowering kit if you're aiming for better handling.. I tried cusco lower H brace plus upper A shaped brace before but not much noticeable difference for daily use..

DuffyFD
12-10-2011, 07:54 AM

just pickd up my te37s today from the depot =D. came in bronze.. looked pretty tempting to just throw some tyres on and have them on straight away..... BUT..... after some hard thinking, decided to get the gutter rash fixed and repaint them matte black =P.

however i have a dilemma... the shop i took them to said they can do SATIN black or MATTE black, where the satin is like a 70% gloss, 30% matte, but the matte black is a full flat black (apparently it looks shit).... i still got a day to change my mind... so some opinions please?
