Sooo today I took off my front bumper to resray my cooler again cos its stone chipped badly:

5 mins later went cbf and instead rerouted my intake to behind the grille for ram air effect:

now I need a velocity stack and a hole in the bumper LOL

I got myself a new ride today!

After sourcing the chassis from Italy...

and the instrumentation from USA...

I have the most UBER RC CAR EVER.

Tyco Scorcher.

Nuff said.

Well not really still want to brag...

Although its almost a 20 year old toy, its still faster than any other damn RC I've ever seen.

Looks like this:

So guys, my car is about to be sold. The buyer wants to take possession of the car on the same day they hand be the cheque. I've told them I will not hand over my car until the money clears just because i dont want them to piss off to another country or some shit with my car and I'm left with a bounced cheque lol.

I may be a bit paranoid... but what would you guys advise? I'm trying to get them to just give me cash cos life is easier that way but they ain't too keen on pulling out such huge amounts of cash.

EGB
14-09-2012, 11:32 AM
If personal cheque, wait till it clears. If Bank cheque tell him to meet you at bank and cash right away with buyer there.

Shifts are smooth, no wheel hopping, no jittering, and the car sounds like its been turbo charged :-P

Yeah I've decided after this evening that I might stick with the top mount only, I would like to have some dash and parts left on the car ;-).

Nothing beats that grin when you switch on the car though eh? :-P

Curtis265: The BP on leach hwy in Myaree ... only one that always has newish flavors and are always working haha. The BP in North Perth on the corner of charles st and scarborough beach rd that normally has it working but just rasberry fanta (freakin' sweet) and coke, or there's a Gull at the corner of canning hwy and griffiths st which always has bubblegum and coke haha.

More vibrations, but its tolerable, I'll give a better opinion after I've done about 1,000km with them in.

Duffy im planning to buy fn2r seats, is it bolt-on on our fd1? If not where did you get your rails? And how much? My car is vti-l and it has airbags.

EGB
18-09-2012, 12:56 PM
I have FD2R seats which I'm willing to part with. Pm me an off if your interested

DuffyFD
18-09-2012, 01:27 PM
FN2r seats are not straight bolt on, the brackets are different. Will cost to get brackets welded. (Cost me 350 - 400).

If you organise with EGB then I'm happy to swap my seats, which are FN2R seats with fd brackets with the fd2r sears with cash my way.

That way you'll have a legal set that fits and I'll make a bit of my money back.

I'm 2007 vti so no need for me to have the airbags.

black8thgen
18-09-2012, 02:08 PM
fd2r fits straight into fd chassis. fn2r seats do not as duffy has stated.

Rndy: you would need the fn2r seats since u have airbags. the clip for the weight sensor will cause ur airbag light to go off (and potentially not deploy the airbags in the event of an accident - this is debatable, i don't think anyone has actually tested this, or would like to, but either way it's defectable to have that light on and showing).

I tried to bypass the sensor as i had a pair of fd2r seats before, but it was just way too difficult and complicated and i didn't want to f around too much, so i just sold the seats.

Best bet is to do what duffy has suggested, that way everyone wins!

EDIT: i was by the way able to bypass the AIRBAG sensor (by using a resistor), but the WEIGHT sensor is the one you'll have trouble with. The only way is to pull out the sensor from your vti-l seat and somehow insert it into the fd2r seats. And i doubt you'd like to do that because it would probably involve the destruction of the vti-l seat lol, which is not worth it.

You can't bypass the weight sensor with a resistor (not of the Ohms we tried anyway), and most people who have transplanted the weight sensor from their euro car seats (VW golf, even Skyline too) into recaros were able to do so because they could remove the sensor without destroying their stock seat. in that thread they suggested a 2ohm resistor on the sensor - this does NOT work as i have tried it myself. anyone is free to prove me wrong though.

As for the first two options, i doubt anyone would be too excited to attempt them.

I rkn just save that money and do aesthetic mods to the car.. Intake really doesn't make a difference on our FDs. But then again, it's all up to you. Might sound fantastic on your car though cause you have a sick exhaust...

Stick with a K&N drop in filter, easy to clean, cheap and proven on the dyno. I am yet to see anything out perform it on the dyno !

Areis

I have an 08 model too. My intake is custom made and it only cost me $200 + K&N filter. It is located behind the foglight. It might be worth looking into cause it's cheap. Problem is, my engine light comes on every once in a while cause of the way th sensor is connected to the pipe (not perfect).

+55 may not be safe for the car as i think factory offset is +42?
+55 means your wheels will go into the guards another 10mm (55-45) and ull have 10mm less clearance from the inside.
driving feeling? Itll feel the same..

lolmclol
23-09-2012, 03:59 AM
Could be wrong, but factory offset is +45 I thought, but +55 would be dangerously too high o.0, at least without spacers.

+42 wheel will be more flush with the fender, +47 wheel will be more sunk into the fender.

You should read up on wheel fitments, its worth it, and wimenz will totally sleep with you for knowing it.

I would choose +32. I can't stand looking at my car with no poke anymore... It just looks wrong.... And don't go 7'' wide because I know you will regret it. Go for at least an 8'' (will fit without guardwork) or 9'' (requires guardwork and stretch for hellaflush!)

And you will need 5x114.3 cause its a honda car with 5 studs and the distance between each stud is 114.3.....

offset determines how far in or out the rim sits, i.e. how the wheel spokes bend

Depends on what you're going for.

Lame = 15-17inch rims 7-7.5inch wide, offsets higher than +25

Average = 17-18 inch 8inch wide. Offsets around 25.

Decent = 17-18 inch 8-9inch offsets +20 - +30. This will be poking without a bit of camber. You'll need to be rolled for these and you'll need rear camber arms and front camber bolts as a minimum to start being able to fit.

Baller = 17-18inch, 9+ wide offsets lower than +20. This will require stretched tyres and neg camber, and rolled / shaved guards.

Personally I'd stay away from 18+inch rims, for three reasons.
1. Too heavy
2. Too think tyres + expensive
3. Makes getting low much more difficult.

For example my current setup is:

Front: 17x9 +22 with 215/45 and -1deg camber.
Rear: 17x9 +22 with 215/45 and -3.5deg camber.

Personally IMO to get more baller I'd go say 5mm lower offset in the front and rear.

Reason I'm trolling is because I've spent a huge amount of time reading and looking at wheel fitments, and there is a lot of things to consider than just selecting the wheels and bolting them on, as you would now know.

I just feel it would be worth learning about it before selecting wheels, and really knowing the ins and outs.

Hey guys I've got a 2008 fd sport and I wanna get a intake! But don't knw which one to get? I was looking at a short ram but it said that I wuld need to relocate my battery and need to change the sensor, and I was looking at the injen cold air intake and it said that I wuld need to change my manifolds? Do I really need to do all this just to install a intake???

xenonkuraz
01-10-2012, 12:35 AM
You'll be fine with a short ram. No need to relocate battery. If you don't mind hacking up your stock intake you can attach a pod to it. Otherwise injen cai will fit with little modification on stock intake. Have done both myself

01-10-2012, 12:00 PM
Serious? Cuze I was soon my research and it wa saying that I wuld need to relocate and change my sensor for this intake I'll link you to it bro

pour water into your intake, it will give vtak a nice drink before you drive, highly recommended by all drivers.

lol cmon play nice

also, with the PWJDM intake you linked, relocation is needed because that power chamber takes up the whole passenger side.

If you go with injen, simota, fujita CAI or SRI, then you'll be fine - no need to relocate anything. Just minor modifications and playing around which really isn't too difficult =D

l33t
01-10-2012, 12:56 PM
So which intake shuld I go with? And what kind of minor mods wuld I have to do? Thanks heaps bro!

black8thgen
01-10-2012, 01:14 PM
go with what u like the best lol. the difference in power is negligible. And sound will generally be louder with an SRI but u suffer from heat soak so its a trade off. IMO, CAI sounds nice

and the mods u have to do is just fitting the sensor on right and getting all the hoses connected

i had the simota carbon charger 2 on my fd2. and just did a custom pipe feed from the filter to under the engine bay area for cooler air

i think xenon had the CAI without the rbc intake manifold? give him a pm if u want dude

The whale tail spoiler? They complement the rear really nicely, are you going for same as car body or carbon fiber or? The J's Racing C304 (something like that, the titanium one) Been wanting just the muffler to swap with my OEM one either that or the tanabe medalion one haha.

I'm currently waiting on my bride door inserts to arrive, hopefully late this week or next week :), got the arm rests sitting there, but don't feel like tearing down the door twice :-p.

Also installed my shifter bushings today! Yew! Shifting no longer feels like a limp pen0r.

Lastly ... finally decided on wheels, will be ordering this week I hope :D.

i got the J's Racing Titanium FX 60RS. ahahah yea should change it man. get the c304 since its cheaper and looks nice =)

i want to retrime the sides and armrest black.

how was taking the door off lolmclol? hard or easy? im scared as XD

lolmclol
02-10-2012, 11:30 PM
I like the spoiler, that transparent style will look good as well.

With the exhaust did you just buy the muffler? or the whole axelback and jazz?

Door trim looks more fiddly then hard, will let you know how it goes once its done, did my arm rest last week, that wasn't bad, just getting the arm rest to look flush haha. Go for bride material, if it can handle butts squirming on it and constant in and out it will never lose its appeal on the car ;). When you take off the OEM fabric it will make you realise how awesome the bride will look :D. Will post pics when its done, hopefully this weekend if it gets delivered!

For the door trim removal, going to use these guides as a pointer when doing it.

goodluck finding the product. pretty sure spotlight would carry it. if not, your local hardware store?

lolmclol
02-10-2012, 11:54 PM
Yeah I think that's a muffler with axel back (could be wrong I'm not 100% on exhausts), tempting though! .. After wheels of course, running around on budget steelie style at the moment >_>

Had a quick glance around bunnings the other day, went into buy some high zinc rust protector primer (contemplating on cutting the frame where the CAI sits as opposed to inner wheel arc), currently have the old coolant pipe split in half over that spot, checked today after 500km+ and its show only indentation as opposed to cutting into it so hopefully it will last a little longer while I make up my mind.

See that's the same for me, but at least you can take all the doors except the drivers and do them inside, don't have a garage and nosey neighbors keep asking me what I'm doing :-p ... best one the other day was "is that a powerful car" ... casually chuckled with a naaaaah.

Can't wait though .. will match my shift boot + armrest xD ... now to burn money with some reupholstered OEM seats xD in bride fabric!

I was reading up on the headers and most of the guys in the US were getting CELs using them.

That's what turned me off them.

Also you'd want a retune after, and for that you'll need another 700 for hondata.

IMO no point going with that unless you're going to boost it.

timmie used to have a weapon r header AGES ago on his fd1.

honestly, it sounded like a race car and everytime i was in his car i felt my brain waiting to explode from the noise. he got rid of it within like 2 weeks lol must have driven him nuts...
