What colour rims, would you guys reccomend, to suit with a civic that has the spakle grey pearlescent colour?

I found this, bit of a nasty scrape. If its pretty bad I could do is get them 4, buy 1 new one and keep the scraped one as a spare. What ya's rkn? Any other place I could get good 2nd hand wheels in perth? PHC guys, Im looking at you! =P

Thanks guys, advice duly noted and I'll scrap the brakes. Will also steer away from too many spoked white rims.

Anything thinner than 8-9" wide and she won't even feel it!

All these people buying 7 inch wide rims should be shot IMO

Ahk! yeah, still new to this, yeah, will def get 17/18" and 8" wide. Whats the stock offset for our FD? and with relation to those work wheels is there any more calculations I have to do to find the appropriate offset I need for it to fit them?
Considering Im not messing with the ride height.

Depends what theme are you going for? Black and grey, and chrome? A theme would have a primary colour with a secondary and tertiary colour for accents.

Anyone know how to install the reverse sensors of the OEM rear bar onto a Type R rear bar? I'm thinking of getting a Type R kit for my FD1, I was thinking of the Mugen RR kit, but I don't really like the rear of that kit.

Simply removing the sensors out of the previous bumper, lining them up with the new bumper and drilling the holes to insert them.

Questions questions,

Will the face-lifted foggies fit in the Type R kits from Jdmyard? I've noticed the foggies are all the pre-face lift ones in the images and on many cars I've seen. I suppose some cutting and modding will be required?

cutting may work, can't guarantee they'll fit though as the FD2R bumper was designed for the "beam lights", guess you could call them and ask them.

sooo anyways participated in ESTBLSHD's dyno day today and achieved 10kw...less than what i got on my original tune

after doing a full tbe and intake mods

but last few days have had stalling issues which i thought was due to my bov leaking boost but now i suspect another boost leak somewhere

have it booked in for a re-tune on the 20th, so will update then :)

in the mean time going to play around with boost controller and reinstall boost gauge, may even install a wideband

I found out it was a boost leak - while driving today my blitz bov blew off, literally. the other end of the adapter had broken off. it had been idling around 800 and when you dropped it into neutral from any gear it would stall.

now with my ssqv back in it is idling normally at 1-1.1k and smooth and crisp.

There's also a set of springs on eBay and I'm unsure about the spring rates. Is 280lb/s on the fronts and 250lb/s on the rears good?

Either HID bulb or blue tint over the foglight cover.

Any thoughts about this guys ?^
Im planning to keep the car for a very long time so i was thinking which path to go either turbo'ing the car or kswap.
Which is worth the bang for buck in the long term? Im thinking of turbo'ing the car but im afraid that it will decrease the life of the engine alot quicker then if i got a kswap for daily drives.

Stevil
07-03-2013, 12:37 PM
David how many k's a year do you do ? K swap aint worth the cost $15k + when you could turbo for less than half that. Im only running 7psi with my 1.8 and the key to engine longevity is regular quality changes. Happy to take you for a spin if you need further convincing !!

i Probably do arnd 13,000-15,000 kms a year average just daily drives, actually im kind of a newbie when it comes with turbo what exactly is the 7psi? and what quality changes are you talking about to engine longevity? ( engine oil, spark plugs, )

David, your car has a K. So don't waste money swapping it.

Instead, if you want to go down the N/A route, get aggressive cams, intake manifold, bigger throttle body, etc. Combined with exhaust and intake good for 30kw gain.

Turbo? will not decrease the life of the engine unless you hoon it daily and boost it beyond 8psi.

Also you can't compare yours to Stevil's because he has the R18 and you the K20. However, my turbo K20 has better fuel efficiency than stock due to the insanely good (and expensive) tune.

Side note, yet another new blow off today due to my old one cracking in the heat.

Contemplating ordering it in.

Never mind, found a post from the malaysians saying it does. sawwwwhhheeeet.

Ok with the NA route what aggressive cams are suitable for my fd2, also what intake manifold? (would a rbc intake manifold combined with injen intake do? from jdmyard?), and what throttle body would be suitable? and with all this i would need a tune to gain that 30kw ? How much is this going to all set me back approximately and would it be worth the bang for buck?

or would a turbo k20 be a better choice bang for buck? i dont mind going either ways.
How much did your Turbo kit cost+ labour cost and how much was the tuning? and how much extra power did u make out of k20 turbo + tuning

My fuel economy on the freeway is actually slightly better (750km 44 litres) around town its the same as before you just dont rev it as much !! Since I started running e85 this week fuel economy has gone down by 10-15% around town. With E85 20 cents cheaper than 91 fuel it works out the same.

Holyshit dude 750kms... wow thats so fking good ... ive used vortex 98 and vpower and their both the same and i only get 450-500kms full tank.. my cars sitting on 74,000kms .. is there something wrong with my fuel efficiency or is that just normal for fd2s

xenonkuraz
08-03-2013, 11:12 AM
It's normal for FD2s. Especially worse if yours is auto. All those NA mods will require tuning + ECU which will be around 2k alone. Parts and labour another 2-3k so budget 5k up for NA route. turbo Route cost me 10k+ all up and the bills are still rolling in. There's always more to do or something to fix/tune. Do what suits your budget. Either way don't expect to have good fuel economy. It's a bonus if its good.

Stevil
08-03-2013, 11:32 AM
My Turbo bill is under $7K, E85 tune and Walbro pump cost me another $500. Remember the VTi is SOHC and was designed for Fuel Efficiency, my previous best was 730km for 44 litres, thats going down Hume highway sitting on 110kmh. Had too laugh, had Highway Patrol car pull up beside me this morning filling whilst filling my tank with E Flex and he was suprised my Honda could run it !! Lol I told him it had been tuned for it, sure as hell didnt tell him it was boosted.

I have a K24 FD2 Ball park figure is 8-10 No Gearbox - 10-12 Type R Box - Recommended. - No China/2nd Hand Parts used.

This is buying

K24
Clutch/Flywheel
RBC Cam Gear
RBC Manifold
Injen Intake
Engine Mounts
Headers
Exhaust
CRV Bracket
US Accord 68MM DBW T/B

++Gearbox - Type R Box with LSD. No point having all that power and no LSD.

ECU - I went with a Haltech PS1000, However using a Flashpro and US ECU would be considerably cheaper and far less difficult.

There is NO point touching stock motor internally, bolting up a turbo would be my only suggestion.

Bolting up a turbo to a K20z should see between 150kw - 200kw depending on fueling, turbo and tune.

K24 will easily surpass 250kw+ with Turbo, stock bottom end basic bolts

My Stock K24 with only RBC Cam Gear, Injen Intake, RBC Manifold and Exhaust Made 150kw atw on 98.

xenonkuraz
08-03-2013, 03:58 PM
Those figures are pretty accurate on the k20z2. My gt28rs only pulled 130kw initially on 7psi with stock exhaust. But now with full exhaust mods and increased boost by 2psi I'm expecting in the region of 170kw

oh really the stock parts in a fd2 are compatible with any k series engine even the k20a and k20a2, what made you decide not to kswap? How much would it be for kswapping i know the k20 engine are around 5k special deal from jdmyard but how much would labour cost to fit the engine in etc??

one plug into OBD under the steering wheel and the adapter plug into the plug ontop of the accelerator pedal, the original accelerater wiring plugs into the other side of the adapter.

Then you're good to go.

Theres a plastic cover that i have to remove to access the accelerator plugs right Duffy? Its quite deep inside. OBD plug is the white one on the left had side?

There's a plastic cover, all you need to do is turn the latch and then it will unhook from above the pedals.

The ODB looks like an old school computer port. It sits up under there, on the gear stick side (not the driver door side).

Thanks heaps Duffy! One more question; the power and eco modes, when using power mode does the car lose fuel effciency the higher i set it? e.g Power7? And the same applies to eco mode, does the car lose power/responsiveness or whatever when in eco mode?

They're sensitivity settings between the throttle and pedal travel.

So in ECO the throttle is less responsive.
In POWER its much more responsive.
ECO1 is the lowest
then unaltered is NORM
then POWER1 - 7 is max.

Put it on ECO 1 and then blip the throttle.
Then put in on POWER 7 and try, You'll notice the difference

Yeah ... I hopefully shouldn't have that problem should I ever get around to it, but I read on 8th that users have had some success with a pry tool and a heat gun :-s

The projectors on that site are meant to be ten fold better, seen photos of ebay vs retrofitsource and its noticable.

Hey since I've boosted my civic and Im now running a pod, who wants a good condition K&N filter. Ive had it on my car for about 9mths. Ill give it a clean and re oil it, so who wants it for free ! Sydney based rollers are prefered as I can drop it anywhere.
