Not worth the heat soak buddy.

Would a different branded panel filter have an affect? Currently have the stock OEM one.

Very slight difference. Better off getting a CAI!

Does it make any difference with removing the resonator onwards? Any low end loss? What parts did you use and who installed?

Thanks

xenonkuraz
24-10-2013, 11:13 AM
Removing the resonator will not result in any power loss.

It will increase air flow, and increase intake volume slightly.

Negligible weight reduction as well as more space for CAI.

Hey guys regarding intakes, is it possible to put a pod filter on the current set up? I have the 2.0L pre-facelift. i know it wont be a performance boost like a CAI but it will have a better induction noise. Would be easy if the sensor wasn't in the way. That pic from page 1437, thats a DIY yeah, Honda_FD any more info on that?

Go to a wrecker and buy a new box for $50 and just cut it up lol.
Thats what i did. I know all that heat soak stuff but its a street car.
So doesnt really bother me. Just another Honda making more noise lol

Its all sound bro. Even with a 'Branded' intake kit you wont feel any difference.
The only way to make a difference is Intake, Exhaust and a tune

Not noticeable really. veryy slight gain in theory. might be felt (subjective) but i reckon its just the placebo effect. car is still gonna be slow as ****

I believe the genuine FD2R housings have a different beam patten and takes different bulbs (d2s HIDs) that come from the factory. it has a sharp beam cutoff and uniform light pattern so it doesn't blind everyone on the road like HIDs in the standard halogen housings (that take hb4 bulbs) we have here. Not 100% sure about this maybe someone can confirm.

Pretty sure its the same thing that I've seen used on Subaru's to clean their engines. Upper engine cleaner, sea foam, carbon cleaner is designed to clean the intake manifold and combustion chamber.

Honda don't do it as far as I know, but there are a few different ones on the market that work the same.

I don't really know if its worth doing to be honest, I'm not a mechanic, or anyone with substantial knowledge in this area, so take everything with a pinch of salt :-).

You're good at convincing, but how much louder than stock is it? Like I said, all I want from the muffler is to have it a tad tone to it vs. stock. Nothing aggresive

see if this guy is still selling [page 1436]

hey guys by any chance is there anyone looking for j's racing exhaust and hks air intake for fd 1?

thanks

I've got the js racing muffler from jdmconcept.. with oem midpipe its not loud. On full throttle with windows down you'll hear it. during normal driving there'll be a subtle tone and its got a nice grumble during startup and idle :D

How many inches?

Does that mean it sits too far in? I was looking at CR Kais too. +42 will fit right?

Or CR Kiwami Ultimate 17'' +38s..

Honestly. If you are going to change the muffler only, then any will do.
I had a $60 No Brand Twin Tip Oval Muffler. Then i got a xForce Twin Loop then the Varex (Current One).
All sounds Slighty the same until i removed the mid muffler. Theres only so much noise the car can make with all the resonators in the standard exhaust system.

I PERSONALLY wouldn't buy the J's Racing if you're doing muffler only. Unless you plan on doing the full system later on.
No point of getting a 'High Performance' exhaust to make a Slight noise difference.

But thats my opinion.

Dis is good. Unless we're forced inducted people only get exhausts for noise. All show no go.

I should have done a review.

But, felt like splurging money. and bought these PnP all-in-one HID bulbs, just to see how it would be in the car.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HB4-9006-6000K-XENON-HID-KIT-HONDA-CIVIC-FD-2006-2011-/160625520081?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item256606edd1

There's H11 plug HIDs too, which I purchased for fogs, and the above link for the main low beams.

It's the all-in-one kit, as you see by the picture, as I'm too clueless about the whole mounting the ballast etc.

I got the 4300K HIDs for both. As I actually don't like having any blue tinge like the 6000K bulbs do.

So installed them, and took them for a ride.

Surprisingly, the HID did not have that "blinding" glare effect that other PnP HIDs seem to have (from what I've read). I did not adjust the alignment at all.

And from the before and after pictures on my phone, the beam pattern is almost exactly the same as the halogen bulbs (I had OSRAM Nightbreaker Unlimited bulbs).

I got my mate to drive the car, and I drove his car in front to have a look via the rear/side mirrors, the HIDs didn't even seem to reach my eye level.

Only con, is that the Foglights, may need some adjustment (if there is???), as it's very bright, it seems to overpower my low beams...

Overall, pretty darn happy, it's pure white, with a tinge of yellow, so it's basic a more intense stock halogen look.

I'll put pictures when I'm bothered to plug in my phone! haha

Edit: The seller, awesome fella, replies to all messages, even the stupid ones .. lol.

Stock headlights, i sprayed the side black cause that part had no use and looks ugly imo. used some plastidip for a base, black wheel paint on top, 2-3 coats, and thick clear on top.

Melbourne FD meet would be mad, is there many active members on here? ive only joined recently.

I have a physics question for you guys.

So I've installed the HIDs few days ago, everything was fine.

Except, I'm not sure if it's me or, it seems that the light emitted seems to be aimed lower than standard halogen? I'm not sure if it's just normal, and the HID is just intensifying the normal beam pattern on the road.

In otherwords, it feels like I have to align the headlights HIGHER not lower.

I think is it due to the HID being a much longer bulb, and the light emitted sits right into the "cone" of our headlights? While the halogens, the light bulb doesn't even reach that cone. (hope that makes sense).

So am I being crazy, or is there some reasoning around there.?

SharkChu, you are not being crazy. I don't know the reason but you are right.
I fitted those HID's about 3 years ago. The light is so much more intense and white but definitely not as far reaching as standard.
When I lived in a rural area and started work really early you really appreciated how good they were. Everyone commented on how bright my lights were, but I never got
flashed or got complaints.
I always wondered about this myself.

Oh I know that, I bought the Lights willing to throw them away, just wanted to see how good/bad the light scattering is. But with the ones I have currently, they almost mimic the halogen pattern, and it's 2 very distinct lights, not all merged and glarey like the one titled "reflector based"

costed me $550 for paint correction, detail and opti coat. Better than dealerships charging 2k for "fusion pack" as they call it and it isn't as good.

The difference here though, is that if some bird shit eats through your paint while you're on holiday or something, a dealership will warrant a respray on the paint, whereas you'd be arguing till your face turns blue with the detailer.

So while I agree that the opticoat is probably the better /more renowned product, it doesn't come with that contractual agreement

Haha okay.
You should drill a little hole and put a small bulb in there and make it look as if you have your
indicators on while driving. I've always liked the indicator being on when the lights on (Like in USA)
but not sure if legal

Well my Civic got some more stopping power today (long overdue), Honda Acura TL type S Brembo's ( 4 Piston ), matched up with some 300mm S2000 rotors, reasonably easy install. Also upgraded my rear sway bar from 18-23mm, initial turn in is a little sharper, wont get a chance to test on the track til December, thinking of finally turning the boost up next month .....

If you're using it for street use, I'd say ultra racing, if you're using it for the track go with Cusco.

But if you want the extra strength go with the Cusco, but if its just something to do go with ultra racing.

would get front strut bar always

consider it a steering enhancement rather than handling mod as in every car ive felt before and after it sharpens the steering feel so in that case its cheap imo

$100-200 to increase steering feel and tightness is worth it

dont bother with a rear one,you wont feel anything

Which Type R is it?
The latest one or is it silver with Red R in the middle

Alpine SWR-12D4 <- Latest one / 1,000 watt RMS

Alpine SWR-1242D <- Old one / 500 Watt RMS (If i remember correctly)

jprak
19-11-2013, 07:52 PM
Alpine SWR-1243D
- 12" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils
- Kevlar reinforced pulp cone with Santoprene rubber surround
- Cast aluminum frame with perimeter venting
- Frequency response: 23-500 Hz
- Power handling: 300-600 watts RMS (300 watts per coil)
- Peak power: 1,800 watts
- Sensitivity: 85 dB
- Top-mount depth: 6-3/8"
- Sealed box volume: 0.65-1.25 cu. ft.
- Ported box volume: 1.0-2.0 cu. ft.

Honda_FD
19-11-2013, 08:08 PM
Alpine SWR-1243D ?
Is it a slim sub or something?

Stock head unit aswell?

I would get something from the Alpine 'X Power' Range.
Only because it has a low level converter built in. So you can run the amp even with the stock head unit
Unless you dont mind other brands

But ideally you just need an Amp that has enough Watt RMS to match the sub.
Which in your case is 600 Watt RMS

I've been being careless with my driving on seperate occasions, and I've damaged my front bumper and rear bumper. nothing major, but I feel like it's a sign for me to get some new parts.

Anyone know decent place(besides ebay) for NON-fibreglass, Mugen RR front, and Type R rear (also, the panel beater should know how to install reverse sensors I got from factory onto the rear right?)

Mix and matching could look a little funny (in my opinion).

But I'd order the mugen RR bodykit from mars performance and if you're really set on the type R rear, I'd get it from bodykitskingdom.

I've only read bad things about mars performance, about poor fitment, but they seem to be the only one selling it at a decent price.. OTR quote $650 delivered to syd.

I think the RR rear is too aggressive with that 4th brake light.

Also, I think I read it on here, but does the Mugen RR front, drop the car quite a bit lower vs. just mugen lip? (I hate dips on the road as it is).

I installed this head unit, have had it in the car for a couple of months and works fine. it was plug and play, ipod works good and i can skip tracks from the steering wheel. i think something had to be grounded cause i cant play videos and the tv anteena isnt connected, but it works alright. fits in seamlessly with the dash, ill take a picture tomorrow. ive had some hiccups with the gps software on it, i prefer to use my phone so not really a problem for me. theres probably better things out there for the money, does come with 1yr warranty

It is a little lower and extends a little further forward (so when you dip or approach a slope without slowing down you'll probably scrape), just take a little care when you're driving around.

At the end of the day, there is (I believe) one main supplier in china where all the different distributors are buying it from so you really aren't going to find much difference no matter where you buy it from (this isn't 100% accurate, but from the stuff I've bought and others bought this seems to be the case).

I've got a front bumper and side skirts from mars performance and there isn't any issues with it at all. The rear bumper I ordered from the US, instead of using the 4th brake light, use the red reflective tape that you see on the rear of the accord euro (which is what I'm planning on doing when I finally install it).

I've got a front bumper and side skirts from mars performance and there isn't any issues with it at all. The rear bumper I ordered from the US, instead of using the 4th brake light, use the red reflective tape that you see on the rear of the accord euro (which is what I'm planning on doing when I finally install it).

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to lolmclol again.

Main reason I'm going Type R rear, is cause since I damaged my current one (it's slightly ajar on the right side), putting a lip on wouldn't do much, if I was to fix the bumper, I might as well replace the whole darn thing haha.

Where did you purchase the rear bumper may I ask?

If the damage is that bad a new rear bumper from the dealership is I think $300 (maybe $260) (unpainted), the rear lip I ordered from bayson-r on eBay, it ships from the US so it isn't really cheap I might add :-P.

If you're wanting to get the set, do it from mars performance as they'll offer the same thing, but they wouldn't separate the rear lip for me.

If you're going to fit the kit yourself, having an extra rear bumper with the lip will help, in the sense that you can stick the lip on there and let it set for a week before you install it properly, as I've read gravity isn't overly helpful when installing the rear lip.

I bought my RR kit from Mars Performance and fitment is spot on, just their customer service isnt very good. I specifically asked for the dual exhaust for the rear lip and they told me they had it in stock so i thought everything was good. Nek minut they told me it was out of stock and that it would take a month to restock and deliver.
Strangely the following day i received the kit but it was only the single exhaust outlet for the rear lip.. I cbf returning it so i just sucked it up and kept it.

Thanks for the tip!

btw, has anyone put the side fender flares? It's just double sided tape though isnt it, safe for long term? haha

eg: http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa186/baysonr/baysonr/Honda/F-C064D-A-RR1-2.jpg

also, anyone know where to get the LED for the bottom of the front RR kit? I found them a few months ago, when I was interested, now don't seem to find it on ebay either. Opinions on LED?

If you order the bumper from Mars Performance it includes the DRL LEDs for the front of the bumper. There are a few singaporean websites that offer it as well if you need extras.

The fender flares ... I think xenon was installing some, but they'll be alright, just use the 3M wall mounting tape. Bunnings sell it for I think $6~$8 a roll.

Hahaha, Guess no to the DRL then. Definitely getting the RR rear tbh, your reflector idea was ingenius haha.

Thanks, I'm now thinking how and what to use for the reflector, whether if its a tape on the back of the accord euro or similar to the ones you find on a bike where it has a plastic housing with the reflector material inside.

I haven't got the money to do things at the moment so it'll sit in a pending situation haha.

Or... having it as an actual brake light instead of the flashing one, that's okay too right? I remember reading something recently about that.

Well the tape, feels like it would peel off, but it easy easy to put on.. haha

Need advice/opinions ASAP.

Purchasing, Mugen RR front bumper, Mugen TYPE R rear bumper, and Side fender flares (not sure how it would fit with the TYPE R rear), and mugen wing (to replace OEM) wing. I already have mugen side skirts.

What do you guys reckon?

Or should I remove the rear oem wing and throw a ducktail with the above combo.

reply asap!
