only yes

do it

why isn't your credit card in your hand ordering it!?

yes master, i have currently sourced out the lip. waiting on the MOOLA and BAM!!!

So mix matching with the RR front and Type R , (I know lolmclol you mentioned it look funny) .. but I'm so unsure what to do! Type R rear or RR rear lip... arrrggghhh

i like the RR rear lip cause of that brake light but type R bumper is good. depends on the exhaust you have i guess?

I only have stock atm, prob get the js racing muffler eventually.

The if i go RR rear lip, prob have to get a oem bumper from the wreckers.

And I think the Type R rear sits a lot higher from the ground than the Mugen RR front hm..

mugen rr body with Carbon fibre ducktail. ahahah

Js would look nice with the type R bumper. my mone is like hiding inside the RR bumper.

if you're worried about scrapping and all. just go for type R bumper, RR sits low i have scrapped it couple of times when i owned it

Hmm.. yeah my only issue is just, if you look at the car from the side with a RR front, and Type R rear, due to the rear sitting higher, it will look pretty weird/funny, having a higher ass than your front. if you know what i mean.

Stock height with the RR front, shouldn't run into too much trouble yeah? I got some hideous dips around my local area, and my mugen front lip is almost skimming the surface.

EDit: or.. I can get a ings+1 rear bumper...

I had this idea, but the thing will be is that the lines of the car won't line up and it could look out of shape, again this comes down to personal opinion and what you want and like, but that's how I eventually looked at it.

OEM ones have about 6 holes (you only really need to use the two in the middle with some 3M tape in my opinion), more aftermarket replicas are just 3M tape

Yeah, fair point, I'm going to pass.

Anyway, I'm about to put an order through, for Mugen RR front, RR Rear (single exhaust), Side fender flares, and a Red honda badge thrown in.

Seeing if I should get the DRL just to see how it would go. (unless you can find them!)

Going to find the ducktail at the wreckers locally.

What you guys think.

Sounds like a good plan! :D

Personally I won't run DRLs because it'll attach unwanted attention, as far as getting them else where I know a few Singaporean websites that have them, but I'll have to find them tomorrow at work.

Okay, if you got them I shotgun, if not, means it's a sign for me not to purchase the DRLs hahaha.

I'm hoping I won't need to replace my bumper, or even the clips that's holding my bump currently. Pretty sure damage would have been worse if it wasn't for my rear mugen lip adding on some strength to it. Don't want the RR rear to add too much weight onto the rear bumper =[

You don't need to replace any clips when you install any of it and anything extra you do need to install it, should be included!

If you aren't in any rush for the DRLs I'll have a look around sometime in the next month or so and I'll let you know :-)

Another question, in regards to Carbon Fibre bonnets, with the vents, that stuff legal? I feel like it comprimises the integrity of the car, so it's like much more unsafe. Lol, found a relatively cheap priced Mugen RR bonnet that's in carbon fibre

If you want it road worthy, you'll need an engineers certificate and so you know most of those bonnets have a carbon fiber skin, with a fiberglass skeleton (nothing wrong with that).

Also carbon fiber in a crash situation will shatter or hold shape and could potentially leave you at risk of impalement, as opposed to your current bonnet which is designed to crumple.

Technically yes, but I can't 100% that sorry lol.

Side skirts I'd still go with PP though as its more flexible, carbon fiber can be prone to cracks and chipping. Boot would be fine though.

Sweet. I might give the stock location a go. Worst case is ill relocate them.
My concern now is the sub box in the boot. 10" sub only so it shouldn't take up too much space. I guess ill see what happens when they install it.

If I remember correctly its 24mm for the front sway bar and 11mm for the rear sway bar.

The factory ones should fit endlinks will fit, but most of the aftermarket upgrades tend to include the endlinks if they're required, I would personally take the option if they aren't supplied just for the extra piece of mind.

I dont like that theres alot of buttons on the face.
I prefer a nice clean face.

Does it have to be double din? Honestly you arent going to find many good ones
for $500 unless you buy one second hand

sounds amazing and features are awesome. easy to use.

Hows the screen on it? I have an old school Pioneer P3300BT and the screen is terrible in sunlight. Maybe it is also due to our dash slightly facing upwards. And also the type of panel. I wish I bought a 7" display. Maybe its time to upgrade to AVH-X4500BT

Well its only $100 difference when you wait for the 30% off at JB hifi. I would go 7" as it looks better. I didn't get 7" at the time because it was a huge difference. Keep in mind this was like atleast 3 years ago when double dins weren't as cheap as today. Its ashame it doesn't come with DAB but I wouldn't think the add on would be that expensive.

The HID projectors from TRS has come in, but I have no time till next week to even attempt to fit them in. I bought a spare headlight to just in case, for $60 (cheap, but there's a deep groove on the side.. maybe abit of polish can help). and getting the other side for $110.

I feel like it will take all day for this.

Any tips?

Btw, when removing the bumper, the bodykit is screwed into the front bumper, and it looks like the screw goes though the fender wall. Does that mean I have to unscrew the front mugen lip off, before I can detach the front bumper? (Hope that makes sense)

Update:

The HID projectors from TRS has come in, but I have no time till next week to even attempt to fit them in. I bought a spare headlight to just in case, for $60 (cheap, but there's a deep groove on the side.. maybe abit of polish can help). and getting the other side for $110.

I feel like it will take all day for this.

Hey guys, just recently tried installing a UR RSB on my FD2. But the RSB bolt hole for the endlink is too small. I was like, wtf?!!

Seems to be like a mill off and the part I ordered is for FD1/FD2. Do our FD2's have bigger stocklinks then FD1s? and I cant seem to find what the actual size of that endlink bolt is as I will pror get it drilled to fit it.

Need advice!

I've finally got the projectors into the reflector bowl housing.

I now need advice on a few things..

1. Painting the inside of the reflector bulb matte black (to prevent any glare), how do you suppose I go about this? Never used a spray paint in my life.. haha

2. I have a 2 grounding wires that I need to put somewhere (they suggest somewhere on chassis that has direct contact with metal), also I have a relay and 2 ballasts to mount .. does anyone know where about are a good location for these? I'm completely clueless! Just beeing browsing though 8th civic.

3. I need an "epoxy" glue or something similar, for the back of the projector, to secure it into place.. anyone recommend some? I'll take a trip down to supercheap, but not sure what I'm ment to be looking for.

4. Finally, anti-rust, a lot of the items and provided screws look like they will rust over time, should I purchase like an anti-rust paint? to coat it?

Thanks, any further advice would be welcomed! This retrofitting is hella complicated for a complete noob like me. lol

Yo, I've installed my pioneer double din, and I'm very happy with it, I now need to replace the 2 front side speakers.

HU: Pioneer AVH-3500DAB
Front speakers: Stock
Rear Speakers: Bass Works (factory option).

That's my current setup. I'm wanting to replace the 2 front speakers, with just a pair of decent speakers. I'm not sure what's a good size that will fit within the door enclosure (I don't want to cut into the door panel).

Also, do I need an AMP? (i feel like atm it's fine.., but may change as I get new front speakers).

JB Hi-Fi are doing a major sale on car audio atm, so I want to take advantage of it.

Any ideas/opinions/advice will be much appreciated!

Okay, So these alpine ones are 110W RMS @ 4ohms.

My headunit only does 50W RMS, so I need an amp. Do I need an amp that does 110W RMS, or an amp that just does around 50W RMS, ontop of my headunit? If that makes sense.

Gosh I forgotten all my physics...

My 2 rear speakers have their own dedicated amp (bass works system from factory).

curtis265
06-12-2013, 08:31 PM
the amp is powering the speakers, so the head unit power output is irrelephant.

It is generally better to overpower the speakers (i.e. let the amp be lazy). less heat.

I'm trying to avoid the use of an Amp, taking account of your post...

A component speaker with tweeters, says a nominal input of 60W. Headunit does 50W. that should be fine ? It's within a few Watts.

there's the buddyclub/ mugen/ twm performance short shifters available ... I haven't tried one though, but from what I've seen on 8thcivic, it would be amazing :-P

What can I do to her? Need to buy Christmas presents and my baby cant miss out!

Also, Anyone know if i put 17x9 with something between +22 ~ +30 offset. Will it clear my front coilovers?

I have a TWM short shifter and base bushings.
Easier to install than you would think and shortens the throw by about 30%.
Great mod.

one is just the pivot ball (minimal replacement), the other is the full assembly, I'd go for the full assembly myself just so you know it will all work a-ok and get the max potential out of it.

Hey Stevo, I see your white turbo FD on BYP racing. Nice

On another note, I managed to align my headlights to an acceptable level, without having to take out the headlight itself. But I still have to take it out, to reach the screw that moves it sideways.

This retrofit Projectors is troublesome for a noob like me =[

I was thinking of checking out this car soon: http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Honda-Civic-2010/AGC-AD-14936226/?Cr=7&sdmvc=1

How much should I be offering? Was thinking of trying to get it down to 17 or 17.5

If you're looking at getting BC BR Coilovers then Contact GarasiAuto ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/GarasiAuto/118522804882176?fref=ts )
And ask for Felix. They are $1,300 but if you tell them you're an OzHonda Member they do $1,150 with Camber Top and 1 Year Warranty.
Best part is. They can get it within 3 working days as of the other garages were it takes up to two weeks.

The bumper is actually scratched. Damage went through the paint. So needs to be repainted.

I would listen to lolmclol and do Intake mod first. Intake mods makes the car pretty loud.
Even with my exhaust I can still hear my intake.

I'm down for an fd meet.

Side note last night gave a done up gc8 a run and left him in the dust...

We'll try organize one sometime after new years? I dont have many connections to many FD owners.
So I hope this forum can help spread the word. I've seen a few nice FD's but I dont think they're on the Forum.
Quite sad..

I raced one and surprisingly i kept up. Didnt look like it had much done. Probably Front mount and exhaust.
I was about his rear door once he hit boost but had him first 2 gears. This was on Station Road near BrimBank Shopping Centre.
That road has heaps of cops so I didnt want to push it as hard

do the intake instead, you'll get a better yolo sound without attracting any visual attention from the police.

Any particular intakes or are they all the same in the end?

realistically they're all the same, but go for injen for the expensive tube appeal.

You see it driving around? Are you from the Western Suburbs?
The bumper is actually scratched. Damage went through the paint. So needs to be repainted.

Never been pulled up *Taps wood*

I would listen to lolmclol and do Intake mod first. Intake mods makes the car pretty loud.
Even with my exhaust I can still hear my intake.

Im running a Varex Oval Muffler with a Resonator Removed.
And its pretty damn loud lol. I can hear the car cruising on low revs 3 blocks away

Yeah I am haha, braybrook in particular but I drive all over the place

Just remembered that the cars still on warranty LOL (still only 500km). That shit doesn't void my warranty does it?

Are the resonators that restrictive? Any drone?

Oh nice! Im from Sunshine West/Ardeer. Give me a yell whenever you see me lol.
My brother said you have a black 9th Gen?
I'll keep an eye out for some weirdo screaming at me in a black 9th gen haha!

Im not sure what would be against your warranty. Read the policy? I had a twinloop muffler
on the car a few months ago and when I got rear ended the tip got cracked and my
Insurance paid me out for it. Sent me a cheque for a brand new Twin Loop but went for the Varex instead hehe

But those mufflers are easy in install/Uninstall. 2 Bolts on the flange and it slides out.
Same with the stock muffler. Not sure about the 9th Gen though.

It does drone a bit on the freeway but most the time my music is too loud to even notice the exhaust.

But loud 4 cylinders rev matching while downshift... Is an awesome sound.

Which model is your 9th Gen?

Yeah oem gearbox, exedy hd clutch, I was bit rough the week before out at Eastern Creek for a twilight trackday. Temps were hot and I was down shifting from 5th to 4th at around 190kmh to set up for turn 1, I reckon heat and stress probably stuffed it. It gave zero warning

Haha will do! I'll highbeam you and wave.
Yeah I've got a black 9th gen! It's the base vti model

Yeah I'll give the dealer a call and see what they think about the intakes and all. Should probably call insurance up and ask abou coils as well

Oh that's alright then! My BMW before this used to drone but it was barely noticeable. All that insulation probably helped a bit though lol

No revmatching bc auto :(

anyone with a sub experiencing boot rattle? It seems to be coming from lower half of the boot when looking from outside. Im suspecting its the wheel well. Ive stuffed socks/cloths everywhere and it doesn't seem to reduce rattle. Any suggestions?

Is your sub standard with the car or aftermarket? If its standard take it back to honda
Or get Dynamatt. SSV in Thomastown are having a boxing day sale. Might be able to grab a door kit for about $30.
I got a door kit and used it for my parcel shelf. There was enough sheets to do 2 and a half layers.

Another common cause is the license plates. Try to bend it a little?

Aftermarket. Doors and rear shelf all dynamatted. Licence plate is good. I just looked up some info and it could be the boot latch. Ill have to sus it out tomorrow.

In regards to the subwoofer comment, i had extreme rattle from the parcel shelf, however it sounded like it was coming from the licence plate. ended up fixing the licence plate up and i could still hear it. so i removed the parcel shelf and put double sided foam weather stripping tape all around the parts that could make contact. now i can go as bassy as i want without any troubles :)

Cheers. My shelf has been dynamated. I think I figured out where the sound is coming from. Its from the trunk air vents. I will pull apart the boot tomorrow and put felt/cloth tapes all over.
Merry Xmas

I've been trying to source out a V-Limited Lip from an STI for about 3 months now. but no luck. :(
But I dont know if I should add more crap on making it lower. Driving as it is makes me
shit bricks cause I'm hitting my front Frame all over the place.

Is it on bags? Doesnt even look like it can turn
The rear wheels are bit much but I like it haha. Clean as though!
Thats the look I want to go for. Minus the -128947124 offset wheels

I prefer this kit without the spoiler and aftermarket headlights.

Few posts back I wrote about a rattle that was doing my nuts in. Finally fixed.
It was the trunk air vent. All I did was spent $6 at bunnings for some felt tape. This tape is light and thin like wrapping paper. So it can still flap :)
http://www.bunnings.com.au/felt-adhesive-roll-450mmx1m-asstd-colours-213408_p3970145

Cut the tape to size and stick to both sides of the flapper. There are 4 in total (2 for each side).

Extremely easy to do and now the vibration is gone. I only have dynamats on my front doors and rear shelf. None in the boot lid or trunk.

Hope this helps those with this problem. You can check if you have this problem by playing a high bass song and stand outside on the 2 rear corners of your car (all doors closed)

I dont think 8th Gen has them. My boot has 1,100 Watt RMS and the vibration isnt noticeable.

What sub and amp do you have?

Those pics are from my FD2.
Im only running a 10" sub - nom power 250W RMS / Max Power 500W

I do have a mugen rear kit so maybe that makes a difference?
Either way, it is now fixed. No rattle anywhere around my car - WIN

OHHH!! LOL I got you mixed up with *DAN* and his 9th Gen haha My bad.
But I thought the Mugen rear is a lip that adds onto your stock bumper?

But you're right. Problem solved....

I need feedback!:

1. Mugen face-lift Front Lip + Mugen RR Rear Lip (single exhaust) + Ducktail spoiler.

OR

2. Mugen RR front + RR back + Ducktail spoiler.

Shipments for the Mugen RR are about to come in, just need to decide what to get..

so help me decide!!! TY
