^+1 is it worth getting?

i have thought about it as well

Just tricks your car into thinking you're pressing the accelerator pedal harder. Don't need to spend a hundred bucks or so to reduce moving my foot an extra inch or 2.

I need feedback!:

1. Mugen face-lift Front Lip + Mugen RR Rear Lip (single exhaust) + Ducktail spoiler.

OR

2. Mugen RR front + RR back + Ducktail spoiler.

Shipments for the Mugen RR are about to come in, just need to decide what to get..

so help me decide!!! TY

The second one, purely cause it looks better IMO. Except, get Mugen spoiler and not ducktail :D

Should line up with the holes on the stock spoiler you have now...?

Yeah definitely doing the ducktail, I like the sleek look.

only problem now, is my damaged front bumper.. the passenger side next to the wheel, the clips have been snapped off, so after a long drive on bumpy roads, the side gets loose and sticks out, exposing all the car's insides Lol. not sure how to repair, without replacing it with a new RR front bumper, or finding a stock front bumper (no idea where from)... =[

Lol yeah. I've seen pictures of it dumped on its arse. Looks tough.
Static is hard to drive. Took me a while to learn how to get on and off high areas without popping out my guards lol.
And parking on the opposite end of shopping centres cause car will get stuck on some speed humps.
My whole frame is scratched because the road is so uneven here. I'll take pictures next time its on a hoist. Nasty...
My front tow hook in completely bent. Car cant be towed from the front anymore.

But its got its ups aswell. All the attention and random people coming up to talk to you.
Love going up driveways on 3 wheels! Im trying to take a good picture on 3 wheels. cant get the right angle

I can't process what you mean by clips on the passenger side bumper because it's held on with one screw and the bumper cover clips onto the black bracket thing. Unless you're referring to the thread holes on the bumper that attach to the black bracket. If so, sikaflex and call it a day. :P
My father ripped my bumper off reversing out of the driveway and turning too early and collected the fence. Bumper came off... more like ripped off actually and the only damage was a slightly cracked screw thread hole on the bumper... basically just slapped it back on and re-screwed and replaced any broken black clips (fair few) and its been good for 3 years now :D

Yeah, that 1 screw that screws in the bumper, is useless, as the clip that the screw goes through has snapped off, so doesn't screw anything! How do you replace that clip?!?! That's what I need to know! haha

anyone had their guards rolled? Can you still remove the inner rubber lining once the lip has been pushed back?
Any recommendations in Melb who does it the right way? (E.g. uses a heat gun, rolls it in layers so the paint don't crack etc).

Thanks

Hi guys,

I'm purchasing the mugen RR kit,

Just wondering, the seller who is highly reputable, seems to be very adamant that I pay via Bank deposit, instead of Paypal..

Is there a reason he would want this?

Thanks.

If you pay through bank deposit you have no "insurance" or "coverage" per-say.

If you pay through paypal, you have their "guarantee" and "insurance" to cover yourself.

If they're operating in Australia the whole fee with conversion they're describing shouldn't technically be an issue, but I do know paypal does take a bit of interest when you're using it as a business.

In terms of painting.

Main body paint, is sparkle grey.

The triangles at front I'll have it as nighthawk black, same as the front grille.
Rear lip, the diffuser section will be matte black.

I'm looking for a Black Honda badge for the front, but they all seem to be 3M double sides tape, anyone know where to get a Honda badge that has screws as well?

kikimushroom

But the link you gave us got two exhaust holes at the back S:, pretty sure they also sell single exhaust ones.
As for the badges, pretty sure double sided tape is more than enough, highly doubt it would come off anyways. I dont think they have ones with screws cause maybe they're not genuine or something

The dealer keeps telling me they will use sikaflex and everyone will be happy. Went onto the ozhonda FB page and everyones telling me no to sikaflex and have a fight to get it done properly with double sided tape, screws and brackets as Honda prescribed... because I can't part out next year when I sell the car to buy a house without causing catastrophic damage to the paint or the kit itself.

Pretty damn nervous to say straight up to them how frustrated I am.

Sigh... $3200 could have bought me a pretty decent Toyota Camry from 99/2000 now that I think about it... got a bit too carried away with my Honda but oh well...

sikaflex is usually the way to go, it will never come off. you'll never get much for a parted out kit because it will still require extensive fitting for whoever buys it, hence why replica kits are so popular - OEM doesn't even fit perfectly

Do you have the official installation isntructions somwhere? maybe you can use those and and ask tem to follow it exactly

also, not meaning to sound like a dick, but if you're planning on buying a house why are you bothering with mods like this then :S

Yeah, I've got the official instllation instructions. It's double sided OEM tape all the way.

Long story... but last time (at another dealer), I was in the same position over my boot seal repair under warranty. Told them nicely I wasn't happy and the technician came out and verbally abused me... but then the service manager came out and he just told me to expect problems with boot seals because "I wasn't driving a german car"... he then told me to take a hike.

I ended up taking it to another dealership during a week that I stayed the North coast to get it refitted so it wouldn't touch the boot hinge arm... been happy since.

I prefer not to be verbally abused... hence why I am pretty nervous. Lame, I know... though I bet every other person here probably would have drop kicked that apprentice technician who abused me, but I like to keep my cool.

Holy crap you're right, thanks for the picture.

I don't want to go too wide, as I'm not wondering to have to worry about scrubbing, or the need to roll the guards etc.

Just a simple switch and be done with it sort of thing. Haha

Just left my RR kit at the painters, the fella was saying that the muffler may need to be moved to have the Mugen RR lip fit on the car? He wasn't too sure.

Anyone know if you have to move the stock muffler to the side for the rear lip to fit? I reckon it should be okay.

Also, the provided Mugen RR muffler tip, not sure how that is ment to fit, as ours are dual tip, and I was provided the single tip =/

ALSO,
the ducktail spoiler doesn't fit over the holes of the OEM wing spoiler. Have to plug or weld the holes.

Anyone know how to plug it properly? =D

Harricade
22-01-2014, 12:13 PM
Yes, the exhaust has to be moved. The exhaust sits too high and if I remember, a bit to the left, so it'll end up behind the new lip.

You have to change your exhaust to fit it. Exhaust shop just welded the tip onto the new single tip exhaust. It would be a good time to look at a proper exhaust mod too.

I've put my standard airbox back on... And woow! Such a Big difference!
The car actually feels alot smoother and more responsive.
Its almost made a big difference in noise aswell. Making the car Alot quieter and
less #YOLOSWAG induction noise.

Which brings me to my question.
Does all SRI and CAI feel the same? I've found a K&N Typhoon System for the car
and I want to know if it'll still feel and sound the same as my homemade intake.
Just a cheap way and cutting up the standard airbox and shoving a pod on the end of it.

You'll only get a CEL light if you try and start the car whilst you're installing it, I know because I saw someone do it ;-), twas a very irresponsible move on their behalf.

But you're best to remove both the positive and negative terminals to ensure the ECU resets itself, so when you do start up the first time its starting fresh :-).

just look under the exhaust and take it off its hangers and move it lower. though it'll be hanging on 1 (thats what my Js racing is atm)

burnt my bumper and RR rear lip when it was hanging properly<.<

Okay as long as it won't just fall off in the middle of driving, I'll let my mechanic know.

In terms of Injen, would it be wise to put a metal plate, like a shield under the CAI to block any water that may splash up?

the hydro shield should help it BUT just be cautious of driving in big puddles, if you see one just floor it before you reach the puddle so the intake wont suck any water in.

This should fit right? Same model number as the one on JDMyard website.

EDIT: Also, the one on JDMyard/ebay are dry filters right? Did some research and getting mixed results ahaha.

The shield is more for keeping it clean, won't do shit if the pod is submerged in water. Just be careful and you'll be right, bit of water here an there ain't nothing.

my warranty is gonna run out may this year, I've been eyeing on this for awhile. It's abit overkill but lets just say I would like the noise.

That price is only for the intake. You need a battery relocation kit.

In this picture the battery was relocated to under the intake

Any was told that it fits the Australian FD2. Put it in and the intake pipe is on the wrong
angle because our throttle is different. So i ended up getting the grinder out and cutting off most of

it just sits on an angle and touches the bonnet. But without the shield it works
Anyone know how to turn the pipe?

compare the original filter colour to how it looks now and if hugely darker then clean it and re-oil if oiled type

Hhaha, my Bass Works factory option rear speakers are overpowering my front speakers like crazy, I had to use the options in my headunit to move the sound stage more too the front, I rather not have to do that.

Just need any decent aftermarket front speakers to balance it out .

I dont think changing speakers will do much difference. Your headunit is still sending out the same signal.
The only way to make a difference is to change the headunit. Theres only so much power the headunit sends out.

Nah, not after anything amazing. Just want an aftermarket speaker that will fit nicely in the front speakers. I feel like the coaxial speakers may be too tall, and hit the door grille. But components, I cbb with the tweeters..

I dont know if the FD and FD2 has the same exhaust system but when I changed the muffler on my FD2 it barely made any noise
difference. If you are going to change the muffler go for a catback system or remove the resonator.
Thats just from my personal experiences. So dont be disappointed if you spend $500 on a muffler and it made no difference. :P

You're only voiding the warranty if you think your car is a submarine and decide to drive into a lake.

You need to research more into your cars warranty as you'll find changing the exhaust is almost exactly the same as doing the intake. If its proven that was the cause of the problem, then you have nothing to fall back on, but if it wasn't you're fine.

I had a solid on mine and two different cops pulled me over saying that it is a rear fog light and that is not legal. Kept telling me to turn it off but there is no switch for it. I just told them I'll fix it at home and that the installers that did the bumper just hooked it up like that and that I didn't know.
I ended up just making it flash so it looks like a brake light and *touch wood* every cop that has driven by has not stopped me. Some cops actually prefer the flashing light as it does alert retards from rear ending you cause they are distracted (a cop said this in a car forum I can't remember which one)

Woops should have been a tad clearer, I'm just planning to have mine light up when I brake. Not have it constantly on like a foglight, and not have it flash. So hopefully that will be fine.

If I get any trouble, I'll prob do what was suggested before, slap some red reflector thing on it instead.

But thanks for the tip though!

my boot spoiler popped during the heat cause i didnt wanna drill in the boot<.<

space in the wheel well? well i can say you cant do anything about it really. it is 'aftermarket' and they werent meant to be 100% perfect fitment.

i got my kit off OTRmotorsports and i can say there front lip was good, side skirt was a bitch and rear RR lip had good fitment. just needed another person to help + a spare wheel to hold up the rear lip so you wont have to hold onto it (Y)

tempting to drill the boot as i might get a carbon one later but unsure.

but ive sold the bootlid and buy an OEM so it fits better

Yo yo fellas.

Got my Mugen RR kit from Euro Vision, via eBay.

Got it installed by the fellas at Innovative Autobody down at Mount Druitt. Relatively new, but honest and down to earth fellas.

In terms of the kit, front bumper, fit perfectly down to the millimeter, had to relocated the horn slightly, as my aftermarket foglights were just slightly too big. In terms of the foglights, the beam pattern is horrendous, not uniform more like a veining grainy sort of spread, but then again they are just foglights, we dont' get much fog down here... there was an in-bult cut-off though, except the cut-off was for LHD people. but no biggie.

I kept my side skirts from my previous mugen lip kit, as it's the exactly the same.

The rear lip, I had the single exhaust outlet, didn't need to relocate the stock exhaust that I thought may happened, fit was good. Only problem was the kit was abit too long at the end? So it took abit of twiddling, and some Superflex (?) to fill in some gaps. The rear LED brake light, I had it hooked up in the way that it only lights up when I press on the brakes, no flashing.

And I removed my OEM spoiler, and put on the ducktail spoiler, cleaner looking. Unfortunately, it left 2 holes from the original OEM spoiler, so I currently have some circular plastics, rubber glued, I suppose the Superflex? to cover the holes, I'm curious if anyone knows a more permanent solution besides welding it on?

Other than that, have to wait till tomorrow, take off the sticky tape holding on the rear bumper, then take some photos.. I'll start a new thread for it soon =D

PS: still have stock rims, they hurt my eyes, need new wheels =[

Yeah, the only thing is I can't leave my car at the garage, I work 6 days, and it's like 1.5hr train ride 1 way* if I had to take public transport, I rather not >_> .

Lip first perfect, it's when you drill the 2 screws at the wheel well fender bit, it sticks out abit too much... does that make sense? I really need pictures lol.

Ah damn, didn't really think of that, probably should run it through with the dealer and see what they say lol. That or yolo it and do it anyway

Anyone remember which cable to not connect to ensure the Mugen RR LED Brake light doesn't flash when braking? Just want a solid,

There's a thread here somewhere, but wasn't very clear about it.

Red, Brown, Black..

If i remember correctly:
black wire: ground light
brown wire: running light
red wire: brake light

The red wire is what makes the flashing. Depending on what you want, swapping the red with the brown wire will only make it flash when you turn your headlights on. That also depends on how you set up the wiring with your tail lights.

Just found a problem, just came back home from work, was testing out the foglights on the RR kit, and I knew the beam pattern was crap, but man, the cut off.. like I said before was for LHD. It was lighting up all the trees on the right hand side of the road, and you could imagine how blinding it could have been for coming drivers, turned it off immediately.

Anyone know how to fix this issue?

Thanks!

Blah, it could be because I'm using HIDs in the RR foggies. And the RR foggies have some sort of bulb/lens thing that makes it look like a projector but isnt. Maybe I should revert back to halogens =[

If only I can transplant the stock OEM foggies into the RR. I miss my oem foggies already ... blah.

Could try cutting them to fit, but I wouldn't recommend it, as it'll be a bitch of a job to do.

You could put in some low lumen yellow bulbs so they aren't so bright but still serve a purpose?

the 3000k HIDs? Recommend any?

But it's too JDM for me, I alawys wanted pure white light, no blue, and maybe a tinge of yellow.

=[ compromises must be made..

though, regardless of the colour light, wouldn't it still be blinding/bright, if the cut-off is all the way into the trees?

I haven't looked into HIDs myself, but I run phillips crystal vision in my headlights and footlights and they're pretty white for regular halogens.

Maybe only use your fog lights when you need the extra light, e.g. when you're driving down a poorly lit road and require extra light.

Figured that if i wasn't satisfied with the noise level id just chop off the resonator on top that

Would do intake but engine warranty isn't something I want to void haha :(

Chop your resonator and it'll make a huge difference. Im happy with my Varex :)

Keep your stock airbox and if anything happens then put it back on? lol

This is my car with the Resonator Chopped off. Still has one resonator and cat.

I got a CEL. CEL turns on above 3,000 revs but anything below is fine. I unplugged the battery before for a few hours
and plugged it back in and let the car idle for 10 mins. Havent test driven it yet but no CEL on idle.

Also, The other day i was driving the car all of a sudden lost all its power and stalled. Even though I was in gear at about 2,500 revs

Is that normal? Should I be worried?

Anyone know where to get that rubber lining thing, for the gaps in body kit?

you can find it on eBay, under rubber beading or lining. Sometimes you can go to window places to get it, they sell it as "weather beading/trim" stuff.
Also paint/panel shops can get it for you, it is just to stop the body kit form rubbing against paint on the body
Officeworks sells "Scotch Heavy Duty Exterior Mounting Tape" this tape is extremely sticky! (prefer this than 3M)

Really? Cut a hole in it? lol or get some sandpaper and sand it down. If its on the innerlining no one will see.
I have a giant hole on the plastic liner protecting the fuel pipe thing on the passenger side. Cut a hole and put heavy duty tape over it
Mine never did that even when i had my Work CR Kai's and those were tucked under the guards

From my research too, No need to replace endlinks unless you plan on tracking it for the 19mm UR RSB.
BTW, I got the 19mm UR RSB too. The fitment of the bar over the endlink bolt isn't big enough on our AUDM Civic FD's. I had to go to an engineering company and get them to measure and drill a bigger hole for the RSB. cost me like $20.
So heads up on that.

Wot

Mind blown

It's fine for street to if you want that tight r feel

If you didn't have a drill you should have sent me a PM man, I could have re-drilled the hole for you for free.

Just quick question guys, Does anyone know if the preface lift tail lights ( the more circular ones ) can be replaced by the facelift 09+ tail lights?
