Hello peeps,

New to the forum, man this is a long thread!

I really like the Mugen BK. Can i get details on where i should try to get this including fitting? I know there is a place in Clayton, Melbourne that might have them for sale but i would like to know of a reliable fitter to fit and paint it for me. PM me.

BTW, i just got a new Civic Sport. Stoked!

I probably won't get them coz some of the guys here said that the rims will still look small on the civic.

But you can get them @ www.nengun.com, I think a trader here might be able to get them in for you (forgot who though). Just check the traders section and do search.

Clayton OTM has them. Any painter can paint and fit. Its just the kit you need to be worried about whether it will be good fitment or not

cuongn: very nice wheels there i was actually considering a set as well!

Does any of you's know whether the fd2 civic type-r wheels the 18" ones are just a straight bolt-on to the Aus civic - vti - vti-l - sports model??? or are brackets or spacers required for these?

Also are the FD2 type-r buckets seats just go on the stock rails or need new rails?

Originally I was thinking of 17s because 18s would be an illegal size so it wouldn't be covered under insurance.

I think 18s would be alright if you're not fussed about the legalities.

Most aftermarket bucket seats require different rails unless they were made for a specific model, and being the JDM FD2R those rails would be different to any of the AUS civics.

That's just my guess though...

Btw how do you hook up these gauges?

for put the wire from engine bay to inside are nightmare. coz space are very limited, but i managed to wire it without take off the whole dash.

and for where to adapt the oil pressure sender and temp unit was easy. but need to buy extra adapter.

and for the vacuum tube are also nightmare, coz hard to put the hands there.

ill take more photo later and post them up.

overall spend 4+ hrs

They sell Thailand made dash only. Better buy Japan made, better quality

well, i have to say first, I'm not accusing someone sell thai/TW 2din dash at ozhonda trader or ebay, but i just say my independent review after selling a few Honda Thai/TW 2din dash ($155) and JDM Honda dash ($185)
color : similiar but slightly different if compare side by side with JDM dash
quality : JDM 10/10, others 8/10
pearl/metallic : JDM obvious, other : none(solid)
brackets : JDM thick, other : thin

so with $xx diff. (155 vs 185) i highly recommend to get JDM ones for your full satisfaction.
($30 in a year, only about 8 cents per day).
hardly for buyer to know which JDM or not, only seller knew (unless you can compare side by side or been told by honest seller like me :D) and my hint say :
1. JDM parts NEVER provide screws (anyone got engine start button comes with screws ? anyone bought from me, JDM 2din dash with "made in japan' tag got the screws ?)
2. JDM dash comes with "HONDA PANEL CTR" words at the back
http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u283/jasperdmx/din3.jpg
(anyone who bought JDM ones but no this engraved, do complain to me..lol)

and at last, these pics worth 1000 words :D

EMS = express mail service - only 2-3 days.
if all of you want EMS, i really hope can give to you on 4 oct (i have a concert show that day..LOL), not sure how much.
ie. my v lip with EMS paid about US$100 and my roof spoiler by sea only US$20
may be about $20 on top each ??? not sure, need to find out.

Brakes wen't too bad on the track really, although they do take quite a hammering on the track. They warm up quite easily as i had to take my cooldown lap after every 2 laps so not too good in that area.

IMO they arn't too bad for the track but if u can upgrade them because it'll help so much as i've done with spoon EK9 pads =]

Getting pads at the moment is a massive head ache!

endless ccx and ccr wont be in stock will after track day

I read somewhere using racing pads would eventually ruining your brake rotors so you might have to change them, more $$$ gone.

Not sure what you are trying to say here because your normal pads will eventually eat your rotors also.

Granted.... track orientated pads will thin out rotors quicker, but that is the trade off you have to be prepared to take if you want a more aggressive pad.

ok, back to forum, after busy week:(
if you want get some "impact" on ur brakes without upgrade to BBK, just change the brake pads and upgrade ur brakeline to SSBH. This is the cheapest and easiest way.

and then, i just received my Type-R (FD2R) brake cooling slate this morning, and the supplier said : this also can be use for our stock brakes to get better braking. But i don't believe him because our stock caliper is open caliper (diff. with brembo/spoon/etc--> closed caliper) so stock caliper don't need extra cooling air. anyway, u can give them a try
just 2 cents

for channeling the air from front straight to brakes caliper.
at least need foglight side duct or foglight area been cut off
but my personal thought, it's only effective with BBK, not with stock brakes.

if we have BBK, better we have this cooling slate. don't have to on track, highly recommended for street use.
and it's not add on accs, all FD2R have this cooling slate for the Brembo

it's diff. the air cooling for wheels (side and bottom) can channel the air to stock caliper. but it's not enough for BBK coz the only open area is at the front of the caliper.

debadge is easy. Hair dryer for about 30 secs then use dental floss. Metho to remove tape.

To put badge back on, buy some thin 3m tape and stick on the back of badge. If you want to stick back badges like CIVIC badge, it will take some work as you will need to follow the shape of the badge.

howdy lads.........Took the car out for a quick thrash on sat morning after putting around 200km on them.

Ride is about 15-20% better in terms of bumpiness believe it or not. I think it's due to just the fact of having more tread and maybe stiffer side walls. Steering and suspension wheel doesn't seem to vibrate as much now.

Road noise is still the same on hwy speeds.

GRIP - It's improved heaps. Before if I power out of a tight corner I can get the inner wheel just spinning because it was just loosing traction. Now smashing it mid corner on exits theres so much grip I can even steer the car into a tighter line with NO UNDERSTEER..........I'm pretty impressed and thats with the tyres not fully worn in yet I'm sure.

Looking forward to taking it to wakie soon to see if i can hammer a 1:17 out of it..........pipedream : ).

spoon bbk fit ANY 300 mm rotor. don't forget add $150 for shipment, it's 30kg weight (all), you can't hand carry this and flight luggage quota only 25 kg max.

i bargain 1200...lol..no wonder he mad to me...lol
i think, u will get brackets from spoon caliper. if not...hmmmm... u need to do custom brackets, hardly to buy.. brakepad usually come with calipers.
basiclly, the main parts : caliper+rotor. pad and brackets usually come with caliper. and if u already upgrade to BBK, better u change ur brakeline to SSBH. u can get goodbridge or corsport (both USA) or Mugen.
rememebr BBK is the most expensive stage in "normal" modification (don't mention about engine) and it's related to death and life...:D

sometimes i see that as a good thing so it makes our cars unique. If mods are available, every fd you see will be modded up and it will look identical. So far i have not seen a silver moss fd done up like mine.

On the other hand, if we want a mod, it will cost heaps to ship over and drain our pockets

I recall the 5th gen civic sedan had a ducktail spoiler as an option in Singapore. That was in '92 or '93 when I bought two civics ( a 3 dr hatch and a sedan). So it at least pre-dates the E46

i reckon lambo doors on our car is kinda weird.

i mean the concept is good but not really for the civic.

and since the civic is actually quite high up (unlike other sports cars which are considerably lower), i have a feeling when you open the doors fully it'll hit the ceiling of some of the car parks.

just my few cents

i've seen pictures of FDs with lambo doors in a forum, some are really weird =/ i can't seem to find it now :(
I will take a pic of the full car when everything is done, don't like the look of it now while its still half done. including the CF interior dash (not sticker, real CF)

NNY911 - the carbon hood is $365 US (bout $415 AU) i bought it few months ago, would cost a fortune now!

i think the CF hoods are legal because its just the same hood but carbon over the top or made in plastic and CF over it.
If your looking at a fully CF hood it'll cost you like 5k? :thumbdwn: it will weight as light as a feather and not legal because its not structural. if you hit someone/thing it won't be the same as having the original hood on which is made to withstand some forces

correct me if i'm wrong :)

there has been a supercharger for the 8th gen with K20(a?) out in the US for a while now.. and 3 or so turbo kits for the R18a engine.

I'd love a supercharger for the R18a... though technically superchargers aren't so well suited for sub 2'ish litre engines.

Got a link for the FD supercharger? It's prolly for the FD2 right?
