was driving to a exhaust shop this morning, when i down gear from 3rd to 2nd at the corner, i heard some griding noise from the gearbox ( only when i shift gear from 3rd to 2nd ), so i plan to head back and check what's wrong, but on my way home, i can't shift in any gear suddently, and i was doing 80 on hwy ........ so i slowly pull over and do a quick check ...... when i was stopped ..... i can shift in gear..... so i keep going, but i can't shift into any gear suddently again !!! ... anyone know what's going on ?? clutch seems ok, and all gear seems ok too .... i am thinking of the syncro or the bearing ?? how much does it cost me to replace the syncro and the bearing ?
any help will be appreciated ~~
it's a B16A cable gear box with NO LSD btw

Sounds like your clutch is not engaging properly. You may need to replace your throw out bearing. It costs around $50 for a new bearing.

has the clutch been replaced recently? If your gonna take out the bearing might aswell get a new clutch installed at the same time

i know the labour will kill me ... but a mate of mine might do it for me, now i just have to find out what's wrong with it, cause if the bearing cause the problem, he can replace for me but not the syncro ....
Is it all gears or just one
If just one then your clutch dude
Looking at like $200 labour
$300ish for an exedy kit
$600ish for a heavy duty exedy kit
Maybe $200ish for a cheap no brand kit
So best case $400
Generally synchos won't let you shift down but you can still shift up

hmmm, at 1st it have griding noise only when i shift gear from 3rd to 2nd, but after a while, i can't shift into ANY gear at all .... but once i can shift into gear, it just go smooth like normal .... clutch wasn't slipping at all
You're out west ae?
I can swing by and check it out for you
If the clutch plate itself is broken; then it may twist thus not disengaging

i am thinking about the synchos too, cause the griding sound only appear when i down gear from 3rd to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd is perfect .... if the synchos is stuffed, how much does it cost me to replace them ?
You basically rebuild the whole gearbox
Cheaper to get a 2nd hand one
