I have a 2000 EK CXi and coz it didn't come with a tacho, I installed an aftermarket one a few days ago.

now the problem is, when I turn on the wipers, the rev reading drops to 0 then as soon as the wipers stop, it jumps back up to the correct reading.
I only noticed this today becoz it was raining.

anyone ever seen anything like this before or know how to fix it?

never seen it before but i recon you have taken power or an erarth from the wiper circuit. when you turn on the wipers your earth becomes active or vice versa with power to the tacho. check out your wiring..

thats what I thought at first, back the backlight stays on the whole time and doesn't even flicker, its just the rev reading drops to 0

put a volt meter across your power going to your tacho and turn on the wipers. look for voltage drop. also if you can source another tach, run them in parallel and take poer from the battery as a test. good luck.

ok after asking around a fair bit, someone suggested it was wired to my altinator and when the wipers came on the voltage drops cuts out the RPM reading.
so if this is the case, can anyone post the [acronym:6f2f684e5d="Engine Control Unit"]ECU[/acronym:6f2f684e5d] wiring diagram for a 2000 EK Civic CXi hatch and how I would wire the Tacho into the [acronym:6f2f684e5d="Engine Control Unit"]ECU[/acronym:6f2f684e5d] instead of the alternator.
thx!

Could I use this:
http://www.apexi-usa.com/productdocumentation/wiringDiagram.pdf

but my car isn't listed there (D16y4), but would it be the same as the diagram in H7-a?
