For anyone who has purchased a new CTR, what deals if any were you able to negotiate. Looking for prices on road, accessories chosen and their costs, and if any discounts or accessories were given for free....

You should ask for the 2 year Honda extended warranty rather than the 3 year dealer warranty.

Yeah, but they wont throw that in. FYI cost price as I discovered for the current civic on the 2 year warranty is around the $450 apparently.

we wont throw it in, it will cost a bit more for the warranty for the CTR over the normal civic!

Id definately go for the red!
Not sure about the rear but overall they are a really nice looking car.

I am definately not looking forward to replacing the emblem set as chances are that they will be continually debadged....

I will agree the prices of the accessories are very excessive, but really what is another $2000 on accessories when buying a two door hatch for over $40,000. What I couldn't justify are accessories such as the Door Trim for $695 and the Bumper Trims for $395 each. Different dealers seem to be charging very different prices for the accessories too...

Price is being finalised for me but i got told it would be bout $43500 drive away.
Got free mats and type r key ring so far, still got some bargainin power cuz of some clauses in my contract.

One question, wtf is this type r badge and stickers you guyz are talkin bout???Doesnt the CTR come standard with the red H badges and stuff.

It comes with the red H badges, but it doesn't have a badge that says "Type R".

IMO, I'd rather buy a Type R badge from the DC5R and stick it on the back.

The "Type R" badging everyone's talking about is this:

http://www.zcars.com.au/images/honda-civic-type-r-fullspecced1.JPG

The "Type R" badge at the rear is standard - the one on the front grille and the stickers on the sides are part of the Type R emblem set.

You cant just have alook at this car from the picture, you have to actually see it urself, it looks awesome, what car outthere got a triangular exhaust? and i thought the metal ball gear lever is bigger than it actually is not it looks small. but rear leg and head room is good, i sat on integra type s on the rear and my head was touching the roof, not on this one

Milano Red. If we had have been give the option of the 19'' Rage wheels then I would have chosen Night Hawk Black, but it wasn't to be....

I have to wait almost another month, Tasmania is always behind....

i was confused either to chose the milano red or the black so i decided to look at the car first. When i look at them, this is my point of view, the red looks so much like a toy car i mean if the red is like ferrari red than its fine but its not. The black gives the car more strength

Before you get your car you might wanna troll the UK forums for known issues

http://www.civictype-r.co.uk (registration is required)

- Check whether the trimming on door is aligned apparently on some its not

- For Milano red drivers check the finish on the paint apparently its abit orange-ish

- 3rd gear issues - not engaging properly (http://www.civictype-r.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=132568)

Looks like Wazza and Sitta have been camping there for a bit =)

That one is even newer than this UK CTR. And you can't bring them into Australia except through a private import. So you still have to wait 1 year.

04-07-2007, 08:48 AM
So all u gotta do is wait 1 year, then import one privately?...

its as easy as that...NOT

hence why u see hardly any honda imports from UK

lets start with the car @ about 17,000pounds....convert that to Au, then how much it is to import it over on the boat, wont be cheap.

that idea is flopsville i thinks.:thumbdwn:

go and look it up in the trader section on cars. this is cool itr website in the UK www.itr-dc5.co.uk (http://www.itr-dc5.co.uk) if u havent been there already.

there have this popular trader bring it in (FD2 in CW oh YEH) saying they wont make any profit with the first one and the price tag is ard $20K Pds. the beast will be available on the road in sep. Still available i think... even thou thousands views on the thread. (one friendly reminder/warning, be ready to get blow away with those 50+ pics)

You can buy them as grey import in the UK, BUT private importing them to AUS is not that simple.

Yes you have to own the car overseas for atleast a year, AND you also have to show customs that YOU have LIVED overseas for roughly the same ammount of time. So its not as simple as buying the car and leaving it with friends or relatives.

shame the private import scheme doesn't work like that. need to spend 1 year in the UK without leaving and prove that your moving to Australia perminately if your not an Australian resident so you have to prove that a family member that owns the car is moving to Australia.

private import only works if you move to the UK or japan for a year buy and use the car(requires rego and parking permits) it can't just sit in a shed for a year.

I'd go back to the EP3 SEVS compliance idea if i was you.
