Evening, I'm new to your forum and this is my first post. Have a question for you all. Can't decide whether or not to buy a new Euro Lux 5AT or whether to wait till end of next year for supposed new 8th Gen Euro. Just looking at all the pics on your forum makes me want the Euro now!!!

Pros of buying now is that the Series 2 Euro may have ironed out any problems the 1st series had and less likely to give any problems.

Cons of waiting for new 8th Gen Euro is that it may not even eventuate. From my reading of your forum, nothing definitive about it coming to Australia - but have seen those hot pics depicting the new Accord

http://forums.streetfire.net/showthread.php?t=4352

Do any of you have any updated news about a possible 8th Gen Euro?

Everything I have read about the next gen is that it will be a new car from the ground up. Don't expect any carry over parts from the Euro as it will be over 5 years old when the new model released. This is not going to be a Series 2 Holden Commodore with a revised grill.

I wouldn't be surprised if it has Sh-AWD and a turbo either. Honda released a turbo into the US market last year

Not sure what problems you are referring to with the Euro - that is definately not a reason to avoid buying the current model.

That isn't what the Euro/TSX replacement is going to look like. That is the Accord.

The Coupe in the red looks smart - very nice.

The alloys on the 4 door are a shocker!

By the way - the next gen euro if you didn't already know is supposed to be based on this concept

There is a cool video to watch at that site

I dont think the new one will be released until late 2008 / early 2009 assuming its a 6 year cycle.

The Euro came out June 2003, and the mid update came out 2006. So:

2003 Original release
2004 Original release
2005 Original release
2006 Revised release
2007 Revised release
2008 Revised release
2009 New shape

According to this link

we can expect the new euro in Feb 2008.

I personally think the current euro looks better. The new one is fugly IMHO. But this is subjective. Others might disagree with me.

I want to wait the official news from Honda. If I don't like the look of the next euro, I'll buy the current model. I hope I can get a bargain. :)

Those pictures, as yfin said is the USA market Accord. The European Accord will not look like this at all. Also, who doesn't want the new Advanced VTEC engine?

You confused, I guess. The pictures above is for ACCORD replacement as Yfin said. I guess TSX/ Accord EURO will be released not far after the new replacement of Integra type R since they will have the euro R listed.

new cars yeh. but i what country and when, usual aus has to wait a while before anything comes here.

my 2 cents would be are you planning on keeping it a long time, when the new model comes out older euro's will lose alittle bit of value on the second hand market, not straight away but as the new model starts showing up on second hand markets earlier models lose value, it you like it and plan to keep it for a while then its worth it. the other part is the current euro is tried tested and bloody awesome iMO. it comfy luxurious and has enough ticker to keep the boy racer in me happy (when slow arses are in the fast lane). its a package thats suits me.

No one told me, its just logical - I mean the Euro was Mid-updated after 3 years, so that means it should be available for another 3 years. From what ive gathered, honda usually release a model for either 4 or 6 years.

For example the Accord V6-L Dec 1997 to Aug 2003 (6yrs), 92-95 EG Civic (4yrs).

Nov or Dec 2008 seems most likely to me..

I agree with you but I guess you need to factor in the age of the car. It was released in Japan in 2002. The next new model could well be something really special, with much more power and similar price. So if you buy now are you going to be dissapointed if in 12 months time the next gen kicks the current series in all aspects. If you are the sort of person who doesn't care - then the answer is to buy the current model.

i've had my car 6 months now. still very happy with it. it will be good to see if honda can out do the current model. not just power wise, but handling braking etc.

Many thanks for your opinions. I think I will hold off until October when the Tokyo 2007 motor show may have the new Euro on display. Yfin, that video of the concept car was great - I think I will be disappointed if I buy the current Euro and the new model is like what I saw in the video.

I'd probably wait at least two years after the new model comes out for any problems to be ironed out and for the usual mild cosmetic changes which tend to make the very first models of a car look a little dated after a while.

definately agree...because all the updates are usually done after the first and 2nd batches...eg...bigger wheels, luxuries, etc. ill keep my car at least 3 years
