5W-20?? or 0W-20?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_oil#Grades_of_motor_oil

Many new vehicles are marked to use 5W-20 oil (Honda, Ford and more recently Toyota). Some ultra fuel efficient and hybrid vehicles are marked to use 0W-20 oil.

I am sure the answer is yes. The manual has a chart of oils you can use and 0w-20 is there from memory.

It is probably ok for winter but doesn't give enough hot weather protection. It is best to stick with the recommended weight of 30 or 40 weight

Yes based on this chart from the manual. But when you read all the oil consumption problems that TSX owners suffer after their dealer put in 0w-20 into their car, it makes you think twice.

The only reason to use 0w-20 is to achieve higher EPA rated fuel consumption numbers. Some race engines also use 0w-20 to get as much power as possible, but the engines are rebuilt after every few races.

I was told by the guys at Honda service that 5W30 is good for winter but they suggested i go for 5W40 in summer. They did mention something about oil consumption with the 5W30 grade in summer, particularly with highway driving.

If you plan to keep your Euro awhile, consider a synthetic blend. You can stay with the recommended weight and possibly see an improvement in your fuel mileage.

I've been using Mobil 1 5w-20 since my first oil change and other than the cost, am very satisfied - especially with the mileage. Best of all, lubrication is superior.

BTW, I use the same weight all year long and with summer temperatures this week between 110F-114F (43C-46C), I see no issues.
