Honda Australia has recalled 2,600 cars to fix a faulty relay. The campaign is part of a worldwide recall.

The problem relay, which may short out, could cause the fuel pumps of the affected vehicles to stop working and the affected vehicle to stall and not restart.

Cars covered by the recall include the 2005 Odyssey, Jazz and Accord, as well as the 2005 and 2006 Accord Euro.

Honda Australia spokesman Mark Higgins said the company was sending out recall notices to all affected owners. He said fixing the relay was a quick and easy task.

“It really is a 30-second job,” Mr Higgins said.

He said no reports of cars stalling due to a failed relay had been reported in Australia, but 17 cases had been recorded in Japan. Mr Higgins said the potential shorting out of the relay did not pose a fire danger.

“There is no risk of fire. It would simply cause the fuel pump to stop,” he said.

The recall will be carried out at no charge to the customer. Cars affected include 5390 Accord Euros, 5200 Jazz models, 180 Odysseys and 200 Accords.

Intersting... since it says "worldwide recall" I wonder if this affects US TSX models too?

Old news. The recall was out in March 2007. Most of us already had our cars inspected by the dealer during the service.

Thanks for the heads up aaronng, I thought I missed one.

LOL, we're still getting recall notices and extended warranties for defective audio switches and fogging headlamps... tough to keep up.

I just keep filing them away and waiting for something to go wrong.

You guys are lucky to have the extended warranty on the climate control screen. We have that same problem with the lights going out, but no warranty extension for us.

For those who service regularly, just open your driver's door and near the hinge will be a white sticker with a code on it. If you have the sticker, they have checked it. 5HL = headlight clips and 5RL = fuel relay.

That sucks, but I have learned over the years if you have an issue with Honda and are a little past warranty expiration, contact the zone and they usually will work with you to make it right.

BTW, one of the perks of owning an Acura rather than a Honda is the longer warranty: 4-yr/50000 miles vs 3-year/36000-mile
