kings low and super low will do the job. you're looking at around $350-$400 for them installed.

have heard good things about eibach whiteline and k-mac

wouldn't bother with pedders haven't seen the produce a decent product for a reasonable price yet.
i think kings are a bit soft for any sort of performance gain.

**Important Note**
Lowering your car decreases the life of the shock absorbers and you may need to replace the shockers after a short period of time.

Agreed man !!!

I got Kmacs on stock shocks with around a 1 finger gap on my EM1.

Before lowering think about what you want to do with your car in the future if anything at all. (also make sure u can make it up your drive way hehe)

Make sure you get it done right first time. Unless you want to throw out 300 or so everytime you change something like add bodykit or lip or even new rims etc

I think coilovers are the way to go in long run, but if u just want the look get kmacs or super low kingies they will be sufficient at a cost of 300 - 500 including isntallation and wheel alignment.

Don't touch pedders man, they're absolute junk for the money you pay. I had them in my ed and while being slightly better than stock, pedders standard spring rates are like riding in a pram.

I was thinkin about goin the same for my car, still keepin it legal hight, i aint lookin 2 spend much so im goin with doin a re-coil of the stock springs, ive been told by doin this they come out 30% harder then orgianlly, anyone have any experience with this at all? ive also been advised if i do go any lower new shockers would be the way 2 go

i guess king springs are good for their price, ive got em on my em1. they sit alright but if u wanna do it right and i suggest you do, go get a set of decent shock absorbers or else its a waste and ull need to do it all over again.

sorry by re-coil i ment getting the stock springs re-heated and then cut, but only 2 the point where im lookin at about a 1 3/4" drop, i wouldnt risk goin lower using that method, anyone have experience with such? for anyone local boys in refering to suspension center in kealba

never... cut... springs...or your butt will hurt.
believe it or not, but from a physics point of view, the coil design absorbs some bumps, and if you cut it, its not being absorbed as well. it increases spring rate because its no longer strong enough on its own to help the overall suspension hold up the car, so its at more pressure. most of my friend's who have cut springs complain about the handling of their car, saying it was the worst idea ever.
just buy aftermarket, much safer. double check the spring rates as well, because you dont want weaker than factory springs.

also, anyone read the suspension superguide in autosalon magazine recently? theres a limit to any performance gain by lowering the vehicle. if you lower the vehicle below the optimal point, its as bad as raising your car.

yea thats exactly what ive herd, now my cars sittin at stock level atm, i got a 4.5cm gap i can drop before it beomces illegal. Now ive been told that by cuttin/re coil what ever i can still maintain a decent ride if not better. Blokes down suspension center told me i can go about 3-4 and still get a good ride if not better, any lower then im in all kinds of trouble not 2 mention i would need new shockers, i aint lookin for an increase in performance, i just wonna know if i drop it a few cm can i still maintain my current level of saftey and performance, anyone with any expereince able to enlighten?

haha, well my friend's ass hurt only from a 2 coil cut, but if your suspension centre offers a moneyback guarantee, then why not?
aftermarket springs are always better, and if you only want the look, then king springs should be fine. but on the off chance that you may be planning suspension mods for performance, check the stiffness. kinda wierd tho, but i was surprised that one of the advertisers of this website is ISC coilovers and they make coilovers for ED civics, haha, so now i may just ditch the TEIN FLEX springs (was pretty sure TEIN only made coilovers but found some springs on ebay) with koni dampers and go for the whole kit.

EDIT: oh and with that 4.5cm gap, is that from the chassis or from a dangling aftermarket exhaust?

make sure you accommodate for the decrease in ride height when the car is full, or an annoyed cop make pick on you for it
