just reading alot of posts on doing things to ur engine, so i had a look under the hood 2 see what i got, i think its D17z or D1777 cant really see, (night-time and half dead torch)

(its a 2002 es1 civic)

i kno its only a gli engine, but can i put a better engine in the instead ? seen alot of B16/B17 or H22a mentioned but no idea what these r for specifically (what model cars)

or what can i do to make this stock engine better and where to get the parts (ie CAI, 4-2-1 header, etc) as i have looked round but cant find much on ebay or in the traders secion of this website

are the 2002's a dud car so no-one makes much 4 em ?

if u get another engine... all ull need 2 do is get new engine mounts the engine and have it all rewired again..

i would advise H22A... the B-series has been overdone in civics... H22A will = more torque! = more usable

i think qld law is that its illegal to place an older engine into a newer car.

hey, i have an ES1 to, and i was thinking about the same thing you are, before i decided to sell my car.
the engine is a d17z, and its illegal to put an engine older then the chasis.
you can put the d17 out of the civic vi which is a sohc vtec and maybe turbo it. or you can put a k20a in, which is from the integra dc5's, they fit pretty well into the ES, alot of ppl overseas have done this, as overseas theres a coupe ES version. alot of parts for the 7thgen civic overseas like U.S. and Thailand. theres a sedan ES called civic RS in thailand, which comes with a k20a already in it as stock. the d17z cant get much out of it. i reckon you can get a sohc vtec out of the vi and mod that. iv seen grills, cai, bodykits for the ES1 in Aus, but most other parts you need to get from overseas. carmate.com.au is a good site with stuff. hope this helps.

thanks 4 the replys guys, does anyone know what the stock k20a has in Kw and torque ?

welding new engine mounts in and rewiring everything sounds pretty daunting though :-S
