What type of car is it?
40,000 is a major service as far as I know.
Are you doing your brakes as well?

find out if i can get a better price other than my dealer
or see if i can lower the price by doing some of the things theyd do myself.

$600 for a 40,000k service on a Honda Jet seems pretty reasonable!!! I would get it in writing!

Just check your service booklet. :)
On mine, 40k involves a change of air filter and also a valve clearance check in addition to all the stuff that they usually do for the minor service.

40,000k service is one of the biggest service. they do the regular undercar and under bonnet checks (fluid levels)
oil, oil filter, air filter, tappets , autotrans, spark plugs (if normal, not premium plugs)
that qoute is about right i think thats what we charge at travis honda

if yours is auto $495-545 sounds more likely, if it is manual it will be slightly cheaper
the reason for the ranged price and not a set price is things like wiper blades, puncture repairs and or wheel balancing which may or may not be required in the service. some places quote cheaper to get u in the door, then they upsell when you get there or they call up and tell u about extras required.
depending on your service history things like brake fluid are sometimes done at the 40k major (brake fluid is due every 60k or 3yrs so if you have been tardy with your servicing it can be due at 40k on a time basis)

^thnx for info lawz
and lol @ resurecting old thread, haha
and my car is manual
they did tappets, fuel filter, air filter, oil, spark plugs, and a few other things
didnt change wipers, didnt change brake fluid, but the idiots took it for a 80km test drive, which is fkn bs, was gona make a scene over it, but by the time i realised how many kmz they did wasting my fuel, i was too close to home

Just booked mine in. Fuel filter change is on their list of things to do. I asked them about it because it's listed to be changed at the 80k service not the 40k. the guy went inside to ask some people and came out with the answer that : "sometimes honda change the standard services and apparently australia has dirty fuel so ... yeah *shrugs* apparently honda changed the schedule for the integra so now we change fuel filter". Note: not complaining about changing it as I know it's better to change it more regularly, but was just interested at the response.
price was almost krogoth's price but with no oil or spark plugs.

waz ur es civic would have the fuel filter listed in the book at 40k.
the cars after i think it's '03 have 'in-tank' filters and only realistically need to be done every 80k

hmm
so they didnt need to replace the filter for my 05 es at the 40k service?
i guess wat ur saying is even though my car has a build date in 05, its design is based on the 01 es? which needed a fuel filter change at 40k?
