well.. my breeze to b16a conversion is pretty much finished... i just have 1 question..

ive still got my breeze radiator on it .. the guy dind't have a 1/2 cut.. he just had most of the parts.. i personally dont know the situation but i know it wasn't a 1/2 cut... he jus had the parts .. but yea.. i dont have a b16 radiator...

will this be a problem? will i need a different radiator?
Dannys offered me his Si radiator? Just want to know if this will be enough? or will i really need to get a [acronym:c70760a31b="Double Overhead Cam"]DOHC[/acronym:c70760a31b] one from a SIR or VTIR from a honda wrecker? or ne one on this board that has one?

I dont wanna wreck my engine by it overheating etc...

anyhelp would be very much appreciated

breeze radiator is only a pissy small single core, the B16aX is a nice fat double core, so you will get much better cooling from it. Id play it safe and put in a bigger radiator.

B16A radiator is only single core but has bigger water port entries and is alloy. The auto has a twin core. The breeze radiator actually cools well as copper has a higher thermal efficiency than alloy however the B16A radiator hoses will be very loose fitting on it.

sorry to bring up the subject again .. but guys my hose is goin to go soon... i asked honda for a 97 ek4 b16a hose, and they said 85$ for the hose.... and none of the wreckers down here have any... not sure id even want to buy 2nd hand.. is this really the price u have to pay for a radiator hose? its the top one by the way ..
what do you guys with b16a's do when ur hose needs replacing, i really wasn't looking forward to paying 80$ for a hose...

Have your tried Repco or Bursons? You don't have to buy OEM if you want to save cash...

I tried Hondspares, Hondworld and Hondwreck and they all dont sell it..

I tried Bursons and they dont have, and Repco dont have for the top radiator hose anymore, but even when they did it was 115$ he said..

A mate told me to go to clark rubber with the right dementions? is this a safe alternative?

anyone know other options other then OEM?

I got a tidy radiator with my dc2 (b18) front cut that I don't need.
PM me if you're interested.

Ok - for the radiator hose, pull your existing one off and head down to repco and look for something that has similar bends... then cut it down to suit. I ran into problems with my EF9 SiR in Bendigo and ended up using a Corolla AE82 ('84?) hose that I cut down. Just make sure that it doesn't put pressure on the outlets and all will be good :) I paid 20 bucks for mine including 2 new clamps :)

Do as Setanta suggests, I found an R31 Skyline top hose has the same bends as my B18A's top hose, just had to shorten it a bit. Cheap and easy.

Ohh.. nice... yea i went to a radiator place n asked them, n they said they dont have a hose, but the guy goes his mate did a b16a conversion and used a Toyota Camry SV21 top hose and its fine.. so yea.. i think ill do as you guys suggest

thanx!

Say bye bye to A/C......... as far as I know with civics.

If your planning on swapping for a thicker radiator...... there is a company called Koyo or Koto something like that that make one that is same size but thicker for civics.... not too shabby and are around the $900-$1000 mark.....

It would be enough for decent amount of high RPM track work in the summer months and resonably priced over other japanese aftermarket items.

It is a japanese company but I think the actuall radiators are not made in japan....... just FYI.

If your car is not really seeing track work, and your noticing that may need a bit more cooling anyways...... my thoughts would be to save your money and possibly just change the fan switch and thermostat to items that start to operate at lower temps, alot cheaper not as effective as full radiator swap but does work to a certain extent.

Like I said.... only if you are a bit worried about heating...... my experience with the B16 is that in stock form, and driven on the road with the standard radiator, it does its job like honda intended it to but with light track work, I experienced moderate temperature problems which resolved themselves with the fan switch and thermostat change..... and possibly because of racing in the cooler autum and winter months..... might actually change to a thicker radiator once summer approaches just to be sure.

The thing is that i have a stardard BREEZE radiator, not the b16 one..

i plan on taking it to the track eventually... would an EG SI or VTI radiator be sufficiant for that then?

thx for the reply btw, =)

Personally..... I would not even think about going to the track with a breeze rad. supporting a B16.

It *might* be ok to get from A to B on the road but I stilll would not trust it with a B16.... there is a reason why B16s came with a thicker rad.

The radiator I mentioned previously is something for you to think over when trying to source a thicker OEM one from lets say an EK4 and can compare prices and see if it is worth going to somethink like the Koyo if it not much more in price and taking into consideration actuall amount of track work you will be doing.
