Has anyone purchased from any of the following? Looking to purchase some items, just want to know if anyones had any experience with them since they are from the states

Exospeed Racing? http://www.exospeed.com/contact.php

RS machines? http://stores.ebay.com/RaceAXIS_W0QQsspagenameZMEQ3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm

RS machines are sponsors d-series.org

Also, when you get a motor shipped from the states, do customs add a fee on top? how much do they usually charge, like what percentage do they charge and how does that all work?

Any info will be great.
Thanks

Probably best to contact customs about it...

I think it's 10% and then 10% of that 10% again... Makes sense?

Didn't think so

Under the FTA, certain US-originating goods enjoy tariff concessions (and some are duty free).

In regards to valuation, see this page, particularly the section entitled 'Imported goods with a value of more than A$1000':
http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=5549

Basically, on top of the motor, you'd pay freight, you pay a rate of duty equal to rate x (cost of motor + freight), plus GST on importation of 10% x (cost of motor + freight + duty), and an additional quarantine /customs fees that may be applicable when importing.

As you can see it can get a bit hairy. You can do all the paperwork yourself but it's easier to contact a Customs Broker / Freight Forwarder. To that end if you contact one they can advise you of the approximate costs to get that engine to you.

gotta love a tax on tax.

cheaper to import/shipping but more expensive for build and communication difficulties.

plus if you want turbo application the US guys have been there done that to death.

a spoon crate motor is honorably overpriced for what you get.
