I'm considering an Integra for my first car, budget $5000.
How's your experience with Integra running cost ?
(petrol, repair & maintenance, etc)

generally it is a low maintenace (if treated right) economical (small motor) depending on how you drive.

But you do need to factor in that for that sort of money you are getting a reasonably old vehicle. And your running the risk of having multiple owners who had different ideas of maintenance. High mileage might lead to ancillary or main component failures which may cost you. Honda parts are NOT CHEAP.

Bodywise your car may have faded paint, interior may show its age... i think the best thing to do is get out there and take a look around at what you will get with your budget mate

exactly what he said, i would say save some more money or if your looking at a price around the 5k mark look at some civic EG's then maybe do an conversion later :D

Hey man good choice for ur 1st car?

You will find that if $5000 is ur budget, then you only really have about $3500-$4000 to spend on the actual car.
The rest goes on insurance, transfer fees, and any probs with the car when you get it (Buying an older car, i have found it is best to always be prepared to spend a couple of bucks when you take it for it's 1st service)

Anyway, back to the issue at hand, an integra is a VERY reliable 1st car.
I have owned an 88 and cureently have a DC2R and both have been very good.
The only criticisim onthe 88 is that parts are sometimes hard to come by.

My brother has an 89 (DA9) and that has so far not failed to impress, although you really need to spend around 6k to find a good 1!

what they said, getting a car that old, u'd have to expect some maintenance on it due to its age. otherwise, under normal conditions, low maintenance.

Maybe even consider a prelude or civic for that price... im not sure if there are any decent integras around 3-5g's.

You'd get a decent Teg cheaper than you get a decent lude!
Also, more to go wrong with an older prelude due to "features" like AWS!

Civic maybe, but when you are talking late 80's, all the good civics (DOHC) have a big price tag still, whereas most of the features on such models are as standard on a Teg!

5k is pleanty, maybe 6 all up fro insurance and some minor toush ups, i had a 86 nda3 integra with 218kms nver had a prob, i serviced it top to bottom when i bought it, drove it hard and looked after it every 5000kms gave it a service, she never let me down.....
i sold her with 256kms and like i said i never had a prob, i sold for dc2r......dont be worried about km's just get it checked out and go from there

Well unless you've seen a prelude with 6 wheels, then, yes, 4 wheel steer would be all wheel steer!
