We've had this problem ever since we bought our 88 CRX.

Basically the problem is, that when the fuel gets to half way the fuel starts to cut out. This also occurs when we turn hard at corners. We have recently change the fuel pump, thinking it has shit itself. I guess that didnt solve the problem. We are out of luck, its not the engine we know that for sure, we've been through 3 engines and all did the same. It has to do with something with the fuel system.
Next step is to change the fuel filter.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is it the correct fuel pump cradle for the tank? sounds like its not sitting on the bottom of the tank.

My car was struggling to start up when i was about 1/4 way, i changed the fuel filter and it fix the problem.

Would the FPR have anything to do with it?

I think the fuel filter should have been the first thing you changed :p

yeh fuel filter is going to get change today. Fuel pressure has been different between 3 motors. Dont think it is the fuel pressure.

If the pump & instalation etc is correct & it's not surge,
Check the plugs to the pump, (& associated wiring)
If you've got a lose connection, you can get this sort of problem.

Thanks for the input guys.

Just changed the filter and its still doing the same thing. :(

Cant be injectors, as said before its has been through 3 engine change and all had the same problem, all different injectors everytime.

Might give the connection a spray of contact cleaner.

It only does it when the fuel get to half a tank. Taking corners hard, the engine would jsut cut out.

Could it be electrical? or should i try another fuel tank?

my injectors leaking.
every time i put my foot down .. engine just knock it self out. felt like its dying.

there was a puddle of fuel on the manifold and once throttle opens up. that puddle got sucked in to the combustion. and few of the sparks died.. :(

see if your fuel line intake all clears out. and may be your tank has defect on it.

I had this problem once

turned out to be the wrong fuel pump. I ovelooked the angle and location of the striner that went on the end of the fuel pump. yes the fuel pump was in the exact same spot but the strainer want.

you should tripple check your strainer angle and location

good luck

Thanks for the tips. Will drop the tank 2mrw. The gen CRX are a bitch to do as you need to drop the whole tank compare to an EG.

I had experience a case where the engine cuts out under hard acceleration. Found out that the engine block earth wire was loose and when the engine moved under hard acceleration, it broke contact and starved the ECU of volts. The Fault code came out as car was push started
