My car has the D16A twin cam, but I want to convert to B16A [acronym:3efa0d76f3="Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control"]VTEC[/acronym:3efa0d76f3] (of course).
People have told me I need to get the [acronym:3efa0d76f3="Japanese Domestic Market"]JDM[/acronym:3efa0d76f3] SiR CRX and swap all the front panels to get a taller bonnet so the engine won't hit when bonnet closed.
If you have done this conversion can you tell me did you need the SiR bonnet?
There are lots of write-ups that don't mention the new bonnet, but I notice often they use the Hasport mounts. Is that the secret to lowering the engine?
If you have done the [acronym:3efa0d76f3="Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control"]VTEC[/acronym:3efa0d76f3] can you mention which bonnet , which mounts, and which engine? B16 or B18 or B20?
Is the B18 the same height etc and just as easy ( :?: ) to fit?

Plus where do you get the Hasport mounts in Australia?
Will an EF Civic 1/2 cut with cable tranny do the job, or do I need the CRX, and why?
OK, and where do you guys suggest I try for the 1/2 cut, any recommendations?
Does anyone know where there is a suitable donor lying about at the moment?

It really depends on what mounts you use. I bought my Hasport mounts about 3 years ago and so have the older version which doesnt seem to sit the motor as low as the new mounts do (C-REX has new mounts). My engine did hit the bonnet JUST when we tried closing it. I did the siR front end swap anyhow and had the lights and bonnet so just went ahead and did that.

Im sure if you buy their newer mounts you wont have any trouble. If you did want to do the siR front swap anyhow you only need the bonnet and the headlights. The stock front bar will have to be trimmed a little to make room for the longer lights.

Like MRJDM said the height difference between b16a and b18c is 7mm.

As for a half cut you can use the EF Civic. However you will still need to get Integra DA driveshafts. Same goes for using the EF CRX.

I have a b16a package for sale suited for gen 2 crx and i will PM you with details.

[G] did you not use the EF radiator support?
Did you have to modify the ED9 radiator support to fit the bonnet and lights and if so how? Is there anything else involved in fitting the SIR front end?

Regards,

James.

this gives you steps on how to modify your radiator support to fit the bonnet.

EF8/9 lights do not interfere with the radiator support
