hey guys my civic eg is doing does some sort of idle problem when out of gear or not accelerating. when im not accelerating it the idle goes up and down. this only happens occasionally but is getting worse, wondering if anyone has had that problem and what you did to stop this from happening. help/advice or even ideas would be great

more details dude. if its a manual and the temperature is relatively cold, then thats natural, the revs spike a bit at lower rpm to warm the engine up. if its not the temperature, then pop up the hood, and test the throttle from in the engine bay, see if theres anything getting caught to cause a rough idle.

yeah it is a manual ill check the throttle and see whats happening from their, but ive never really thrashed it much to see whether its to do with the temperature or not.

clean the throttle body out, i cleaned mine out when i first got the car (alot of issues when i first got it) major one being idle revving up and down all the time
cleaning it out the idle became stable.
It only revs up and down to warm up the engine in the morning.

heh, my idle is lumpy too, but i'll wear in my new head and piston rings before having it checked out, just to make sure its not the head or rings causing it. kinda wierd tho, the d15b412 motor in my ED is supposed to idle at around 750rpm+-50rpm, but my motor's idle averages between 1200-1500rpm.
