Hey guys,

was wondering what your opinion on after market intakes are. Are they worth getting? Do they really overpower the stock filters in terms of power, fuel economy and overall drivability/reliability?

I was looking at these on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Honda-Civic-92-95-EG-high-flow-air-intake-FREE-FILTER_W0QQitemZ300127879881QQihZ020QQcategoryZ366 80QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and

im not sure of any others but i would surely be interestead.

Although i wouldnt really want to pay over 200 dollars for an intake setup. Is that second one really worth nearly 400 dollars?

any input would be great, interestead in your thoughts and comments.

Thanks in advanced.

IMHO spending $400 on an intake is just a waste of money.... I wouldnt spend more than $100 for both the piping and filter. Even the best of intakes will only give minimal gains, so you are better off buying the cheapest you can find and spending the money you save on other mods such as header, exhaust, ecu, etc, etc

I also read that review but to be honest i think that review is a bit biased.
And the testing conditions were different for each test. I dont think anything would beat apexi or k&n,

DIY: get a pvc pipe and connect it to your intake piping. thats what I did. I spent $20 @ hardwarehouse lolz
sounded like vtec @ 5rpm and esp. 3rd gear on m5 @ 5500rpm

Good on ya for trying your own DIY!
What's the noticeable improvements?
I guess the VTEC-like sound emission must have given you quite some thrill !
Please share your fun even if it's some photos !!

Yeh something like that should work fine

Check this one as well...

Considering how strong the AU$ is it might work out cheaper. I bought a similar intake for my mates prelude from that ebay store, shipping only took around a week. Fitment was easy and it sounded awesome. I plan to buy one of those for my civic in the near future

This might sounda a bit funny guys, back in the day when my car was n/a i had just a basic CAI setup where the pod was mounted inside the cold air duct infront of my driver wheel ( with pipework to there). This wasnt too bad and very easy to construct yourself. However later down the track i found a
"Front Mount" cold air intake (sounds silly). Basically the kit was plumbing from the throttlebody down to the front bumper and connected to it was a big panel filter that sat similar to an intercooler. I gave it a go for laughs and i was surprised that it gave better gains (especially low end torque) then any Pod CAI Setup i tried.
