k20a is prob the best you are going to get, very reliable, make sure you get a jdm model if you are serious. once again it comes down to the money issue. prob's approx 8k for a motor then add on another 5 at least for mounts/exhaust/custom intake/aftermarket comp(if applicable) very expensive, not hugely powerful at the wheels, but an awesome N/A application.

if you have anything short of 15k dont even bother with the K. i would suggest to go with a Type S H22, which come with 220bhp(heaps) they haul too...plus in the long run they cost about half of what a k swap would.

then again, on the other side, you could get a k24 like im doing and go nuts!

good luck with it mate.

if u really want something that is worth the money -
My opinion would be to get a h22 n boost it, be putting out way more power, and cost the same if not less than a k20.

gday champ, basically you really to really sit down and have a think about how much your willing to spend or have to spend, and how much power and reliability you want too.

If money was no object deffinately k20a but that will be 12 - 15k hole in your wallet at the end of the day even if you can find an engine.

If your after just a strait hassell free engine swap, my advice would be either a b16a or b18c2, anywhere between 3 - 6k conversions and not too much custom work involved, finding these engines should not be too hard nor someone to do the swap, and you will deffinatley get a fun amount of power to boot at the end :)

good luck bud, regards Lyle

There are so many motors to chose from SOHC vtec-K20s

Here are some fun facts:
-Your car is OBD-1 which is best for ECU tuning running a free aftermarket burn program
-EG's 92-95 are one of the Honda tuners favorite

Under $600: Motor, Tranny, ECU
D15B 130HP SOHC Vtec 1.5L
D16Z6 127HP SOHC Vtec 1.6L better for engine parts
*Alot of miles and needs a rebuild

Under $4000: Motor, Tranny, ECU, All DOHC
B16A2 160HP 1.6L $1700 Vtec
B16B 185HP 1.6L $3500 Vtec
B18C1 170HP 1.8L $3000 Vtec
B18C5 195HP 1.8L $4000 Vtec
B18B 140HP 1.8L $2000 Non-Vtec
B20 127HP 2.0L $500 need to peice togther swap and has mad trq Non-Vtec

Under $8000 for the swap:
K20a

IS THIS RIGHT?

why is a B18C5 for powerful than a B20

shouldnt a 2.0 be more powerful than a 1.8

Id assume those prices would be for parts and they are veryu modest prices at that. From my understanding the b20b is not a true b series engine as it come out of the CRV and is not meant for performance. What must be uunderstood is although the saying goes "nothing compares to cubic capacity" this is not so true. What makes the honda engines so good is the tunability of them and the potential for large horse power with a relatively small engine. I'll give you an example, my friend has a 92 stock standard soarer V8, my 92 EG with a b16b i/h/e beats it both from straight line and in cornering. My advice dont go for something overly powerfull as all you will get is wheel spin, try and find a balance

please use search!
and i think the prices that you have listed are really off.
b18c5 is a type R engine, b20 is one off a crv, which doesn't have vtec. and just because an engine is bigger doesn't make it faster

If you are asking this question, then do more research before you decide on anything. The b20 block has many weaknesses that need to be addressed. I'd go for a b18c7 instead of a b20.

the only "replacement for displacement" is a smaller engine being able to do more work then a larger engine in the same amount of time (reving higher)
which the b18c can deffinately make more power at higher rmp then the b20.
For the b20 to be worth while it really needs to be combined with a b16 or b18c/r head, then you will get the compression you need to make the worthwhile power!

hi my suggestion would be go for a B series swap,

i have got the same car as you do
i recently just drop in a B16A JDM motor from EG9 half cut cost me around 4500+&-

once you got B16A in, it would be much easy for you for future any B series swap,

and from what i am saying, once you got the B16, then save up more then drop a DC2R motor, and get a stroker kit from TODA and stroke it to 2L or more.

but all that saying is if you wanna go NA all the way and money is not an issue of course. turbo B series or K series is different story again.

but at the end of the day, it;s all about personal choice

either if you are B series fans or K series fans.

all the best man
