Has anyone ever had problems with their civic, i have a vti-r 1996 model. The engine light has come on and when it does it stays on for like two weeks and when it is on the revs drop right down and the car stalls, i have to be revving it to keep the car going, after about 5 minutes its has just enought idle, JUST enough, to keep the car running and thats after tweaking the revs to a higher level under teh bonnet. When the engine light goes off the car is fine, but revs a lil high due to my adjusting them to accommodate the lower revs when the engine light is on.

had a similar problem on another ek4, kept dying
turns out some cables leading to the ecu was loose
check for some physical damage while you're down there with the test plug :)
