I can't put my finger on when it started, but I noticed it well before I stripped my interior, did work on the engine/did maintenance, changed exhaust. etc

Today after leaving the car idling for about 5 minutes, the interior smelt so much like petrol, it was like standing in the fume stream while filling up at a servo.

I left the car idling and sealed up and got out to survey the exterior and the smell seemed to be mostly coming from the inside. The exhaust did smell like the engine is running too rich, but I wouldn't have picked that without being suspicious.

Things that could contribute to it smelling stronger than usual are that I filled up 30km ago (45 mins earlier), fuel filter has recently been changed.

But it was smelling previously even when it hadn't been filled for a week.

1. Does anyknow know what this could be caused by?

2. Is it a cause for concern?

3. What should I do?

Chees.

Did it happened only after you changed the fuel filter?

Maybe the lines weren't tight...

No, I begun noticing it when I started storing my car in a sealed garage several months before changing fuel filter. I didn't think all that much of it until today when my friend pointed out that the smell was so strong, that he felt uncomfortable/unsafe lol Then I thought.. now that you mention it, it smells like I'm chroming petrol here...

edit: friend adds: he "has a car that runs rich as buggery at times, and despite that [he] was still concerned"

fuel filler often leaks
because it is replaced at compliance with sealant that perishes when petrol hits it

The seal around the filler wasn't sealing anything! So there you go.
What sealant is chemical/petrol resistant? I was advised Liquid Nails isn't.

Fuel pressure Reg could be leakin ?
Try sniffing around the engine bay or u could just leave it for a week a drive around and see if there is a difference in mileage and if it is then something is leaking
