or has any one seen any thing that looks close to that???

pornstar
16-07-2004, 12:41 PM
ur torque curve is the lower two flatter lines

the ones above are hp curves and i think they jibbed ya

poid
16-07-2004, 12:56 PM
what on earth is going on with that stock power/torque graph??

pornstar
16-07-2004, 01:00 PM
his geting jibbed poida, the operators/tuner are playing with him... u know what i mean? if not pm, dun wanan openly talk about shit like that

just called the tuner again, turns out they didnt run the car stock.................the black line is the car run with all my mods and the vafc with its stock preset settings not tuned.

hi poid and pornstar....can i pm u guys too? want to know wats going on cos i am just about to go for a dyno tune

hmm I would have said the dyno operator looks to have backed off the throtle on the black line run - SOME dyno operators have been known to do this or only apply 80% throttle on the 'before' run so that their 'after' run looks much better than it really was.

STOCK VAFC settings are +-0%, so he is BS'ing you IMO.

If you have ever seen a dyno-graph where the operator has actually run the car to it's fuel-cut, you'll see a similar zig-zag in the line - but more steep where fuel is cut, then opened.. so to me it looks like some throtttle jiggy action..

what about the final run is that a decent figure??? cause from what i have been reading thats roughly what a type R is at or maby i am wrong??

pornstar
21-07-2004, 11:37 AM
that final figure like i said is what sum1 on here did with a b16a with jsut headers intake and exhaust no fancy blue screen cr4p.

Sico
21-07-2004, 12:00 PM
so if i take it some where else i could get it tuned better and pump out more power.........

A dyno is only good for measuring gains or losses in power from an established 'zero' (your baseline initial dyno run).
Dyno's are NOT an accurate way of measuring outright power as every dyno will give you a different reading.

Not sure if Pornstar is talking about 'CivicTypeR' and his 150+WHP dyno run at 'Motorvation'.. Not dissing his car at all, but it is a bone-stock B16A2 (EK4) with 4>1 Headder, Hi-Flow Cat, Cat-back 2.25" Mandrel, Pod-Filter Intake. Now a factory EK4 is said to produce 160HP at the flywheel - allowing for a 20% loss from the drivetrain to the wheels is 128WHP. now using the same formula backwards, 'CivicTypeR' would be putting out 187.5HP at the flywheel.. 27.5HP gain from I+H+E ?? I dont think so. Now he did make some great gains in power, but not to the figure that THAT particular dyno put out.

pornstar
21-07-2004, 04:22 PM
not atlking about him, sum1 else im talking about, and gain was abbout 8-10 kws at the wheels without pretty blue screeen taht makes money for tuners that doesnt do cr4p for our engines :)

I had my vafc tuned and installed at the same place as mentioned in this thread and a mate at another dyno place told me the car was actually tuned quite nice - not how HE would have done it - but still NICE :)

Sico
26-07-2004, 06:26 PM
thats what the mechanic told me he goes look im not gonna promise you kw figures were just gonna get the car tuned and running as good as we can........and for the fist week i totally agreed it felt great but now for some reason i can feel a flat spot from changing from 1st to 2nd.....

also i have a apexi pod filter sitting in the engine bay........would it be more effective to just have the stock filter in the box??? less heat??
