I just bought myself a DC5 Type R (pics below). Thought I'd jump online to get a little more info and find a great community. I'm in the process of modding the car and would appreciate the feedback.

I've replaced the factory strut brace with a Cusco item and changed to the JDM engine cover. I've also fitted the HID headlights from the JDM Type R.

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-8/1207996/BRQQP-DSC00009.JPG

I've got an Injen CAI HKS VTEC controller and Fujitsubo Power Getter catback exhaust on order. I'm also ordering Tein Flex coilovers and Volk TE37 PCDs in 17s on Monday from Shift Performance in Lansvale, Sydney.

I've held off on ordering headers while I research options. Can anyone here suggest anything? I was after Fujitsubo headers but they haven't developed them for the DC5.

The goal with the car is to have a well set up track car that isn't overly powerful nor too hard to drive on the street. I'd appreciate any feedback from the more experienced members here.

Cheers.

Nice car! Did the red seats come with it or did you change them over yourself?

Take a look here for a Toda header group buy - very good price for a great header.

Cheers. Like quite a few ITRs the original seats were stolen. I've got a 9 point alarm and immobiliser with internal siren to keep the deadbeats away. Car is never really out of my sight as my last car (CC Lancer GSR) was stolen. I picked it up with the red Recaros. I had the chance to buy a silver with black Recaros and I'm glad I went for this one. It's a much better look for a Type R.

The Toda headers were at the top of my list. I was just holding out for the Fujitsubo option because the Power Getter seems to be the best option for catback, so I would've loved to pair em up. I'll check out that link.

Great looking car you got there CONGRATULATIONS:thumbsup:
Sounds like your on the right track with the mods you’re done so far and what you’re planning to do.
As for Headers, I’m installing the TODA. At the end of the day it’s your choice in what you want, GOOD LUCK:wave:

I just put my hand up for the Toda buy in. They were the headers I was pretty much sold on anyway. It's amazing the difference in price between brands. I was getting anything from $2,400 for Mugen through to $1,300 for Buddy Club. I'm pretty pleased with the Toda as I've heard great reports.

Gotta love Forza 2. It's been a great test bed for wheels for the car. That's how I came to the conclusion of TE37s for the car.

Sig changed. I was told by a Honda dealer stock controller that was the colour. Not surprised they got it wrong.

I remember this teg was for sale awhile ago.

Nice car.

Just wondering, If your Recaros where stolen does that make your car a write off?

P.S. I think Fujitsubo does make headers for DC5R, correct me if im wrong someone.

Maracer, I'll do one tonight using an Acura RSX-S for authenticity. ;)

RSX, yes. It does make it a repairable write off. I was looking into ways to get the car lifted from REVS. I understand that the seats have a high value, but it's absolutely ridiculous to write a car of because of them. Especially if they were replaced with the OEM seats. I'm curious if an engineers certificate would clear it. I know it's quite common for it to happen which should give them all the more reason to stop these cars from being put in the same basket as wrecks and cut and shuts.

Fujitsubo definitely didn't make one as of Friday as Sam from Shift looked into it for me. I think I'll go for the TODA headers anyway as the group buy lets me get the HF cat with it for the same price.

Nice. :D

I'm working on a screenie of your white DC5S right now. Unfortunately, it'll have to be a MkI. There's no Mk2 on Forza 2.

Here you go.

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-8/1207996/RSX-SRGII.jpg

Not quite the RGIIs but the closest thing in game. The detail is amazing in this game. You can actually see the carbon ceramic finish on the cross drilled rotors. Brakes have higher value than the car itself. :p

I'll take another with better light sourcing. Laguna Seca is a very saturated light source in game.

Awesome ride you have there!
Nice list of mods/plans you have as well~

Gotta love Forza2, just picked up an xbox360 a couple weeks ago.
I can't figure out how to connect it to xboxlive though or whatever I need to get my screen shots.

Just finished fitting the JDM HIDs this afternoon. Will take pics tomorrowat sunset. They make a huge difference to driving at night. I got so used to Bi Xenons in the Golf I drive that it was a huge step back getting into the Teg with halogens.

Just picked up some JDM Brembos online too so can't wait to have them fitted to the car along with the slotted rotors. The first track day can't come soon enough.

Got the Fujitsubo PG and Injen CAI fitted today. I can't believe the difference it has made. The car isn't so much faster now, but it breathes soooo much better. It's as though beforehand it was running a marathon with a sock in it's mouth before. Throttle response has improved to the point that it feels like a different car. The PG is nice without being overly loud. The CAI is the dominant force on the car now. I knew they got loud, but this is just crazy. It now sounds like a real VTEC.

TODA headers fitted next Thursday. Then over to Shift for Tein Flex coilovers and Rays TE37s. Will post pics once fitted.

So excited, it's like I got a new car all over again. Anyone who doesn't do these mods to their ITR isn't experiencing it at all.

Nice ride.

You will get much more power out of your Toda headers than any sort of CAI. CAI is more of a combo of roar sound plus very sliiiiiiiight performance increase (if any at all) Personally, I think the stock airbox for the K-series is already very good.

I also got TODA headers and also fitting next thursday, LOL.

Yeah, the CAI was just to complete the package. Nice throttle response as I mentioned. Car also gets alot more looks when throttle is opened up.

Haven't been on for a while but i Thought I'd update the mods list.

Picking up my new ARC 36mm radiator, GReddy catch can and oil cooler, Cusco rear strut brace tomorrow. Got Samco hoses to be fitted along with the radiator. Fitted a JDM spark plug cover to complete the engine bay look.

Ordered an INGS carbon bonnet like the one below.

http://www.ings-net.com/english/products/n-spec/dc5-01/zoom/imgs/09.jpg

Will probably go with Cusco sway bars and nolathane bushes. OEM clutch is still fantastic. Will need a camber kit for the rear as current height gives excessive negative for the road.

Next round of mods I'm a little confused as to what to do. Still waiting on the AP Racing rotors which have taken forever to arrive. Looking for a combination of cams and 2200cc stroker kit with ECU. Thought about a TODA/Autronic combination complete with quad throttle bodies and larger race cams.

Any advice would be great.

wow ur not wasting any time, oohh stroker kit, ITB's and cams fark that would be sweet, costly but sweet.

Just ordered a Mugen thermostat and Sparco suede racing wheel. Now to find a boss kit. Anyone know if I'll need to have the airbag light reset by Honda?

matt
18-10-2007, 11:37 PM
i think u need more than the ligth reset, i cant recall exactly what u need, but u need to put something across the connector to prevent the light being on.

i think some of the boss kits come with the bits u need to fix it, maybe look into the spoon ones.

Update pics. Just started pulling car apart before cage and respray. Not going with Championship White. Deciding between Arctic White Pearl from BMW or Candy White from VW. Both are a brilliant bright white, not slightly off white like CW.
