Couldn't see anything on the forums about this, so heres my question.
This is the Direct air flow unit for those that don't know. >

Quote: "The Spoon direct air flow pipe eliminates the resonance silencer found on the stock intake pipe of the B16A. Consequently, the intake flow is improved and the intake velocity increased, providing improved power and throttle response."
Now This is probably where i am going wrong but I am assuming that the stock air intake on my D16Y8 is the same as a B16A (From what I have seen in pictures i have the same)
I have taken a look at the resonance silencer and it seems as though its just a pass through tube with a sealed box on one side. No holes to let air in or out.
So would replacing the plastic pipe with this $400-$500 CF pipe help at all? My logic tells me now but i dont know that much about cars to trust myself.
Can someone please clear this up for me?
On further inspection with a flash light, there is a gap (which makes sense and stops by brain from hurting) but why should i pay $400-$500 for a pipe? is just as effective using any old piping?
