Hey, ive recently ordered JIC Coilovers for my CRX but because it is a SiR u have to get DC2 suspension and it doesnt quite fit. The guy ive ordered it from says just to grind the control arm a couple mm. Should that make it weak or a hazard on the road? Thanx.

Yer its just a couple mm too big so u have to either send the shocks overseas to modify it or modify where it bolts on to the chassis?

well there you go. Modify it where it bolts on to the chassis.

I didn't realise there were other differences between the Si and SiR except for the engine.

Chassis and firewall are different

So it's a regular Si Suspension.

Confused as to why OP specified that it's an SiR rather than EF8 / ED9

SiR has a eyelet, Si had the fork. also front forks will be diff sizes. i had to source ed civic sus to fit onto my ef8.

also instead of grinding away the lca, why not just replace it with dc2 lca's? eithier oem or aftermarket.

I did the 'grind' method with my mates CRX. Was very easy and works well.

you can get tiens to fit. and the si and sir have many differences. ef8 has stiffer chasis then ed9 and ef7. 15mm longer chasis 10mm wider chasis then the ed9 and 10mm and 5mm over the ef7. it also has intrusion bars and more chasis members. the sir has a longer bonnet and the raised bonnet as many ppl know to the ed9. and also has longer lights head lights. also being single bulb, wich mind you contain the hardest bulbs to find. (REPCO YO)
also the rear light cluster has larger reverse lights

Are we blurring lines between gen 1 and gen 2 here?

Are we blurring lines between gen 1 and gen 2 here?

no. ed and ef are different chassis altogether. although they have near identical profile and are both known as gen2. im not talking about gen 1 nor gen 3 but if you want to get down and dirty you can technicaly say via chasis differences ed/ef ed is gen 2 series 1 and efs are gen 2 series 2. and ef8 is a little more touched up over other efs

so Dc2 suspension works with ef8's??

To fit DC2R/EG6 suspension on EF8 , get dc2/eg front fork and type R / EG6 rear lower control arm.
Thats all you need.
