Hey guys how's it going new to this site and the modding scene altogether.

Aiming to pick up a 2000 Civic CXI EK in the next few weeks and thought if I'm going to do it up I better find some people that have an idea where to start looking for parts for Civics and general answers to any questions I may have.

Love some of the cars on here can't wait to get mine and get some ideas from you guys.

Anybody got any suggestions where to start?

I've pretty much got the stereo minus a head unit and sub which I had from a previous car that includes:

Rockford Fosgate P1625 Front
Rockford Fosgate HPC2369 Rear
Rockford Fosgate P4004 Amp

Will be picking up and Alpine deck not sure if I need to spend money on the sub for time being might put money to other use such as alarm ect.

Thanks in advance guys!

Welcome mate... Any performance mods on the list or just ICE?

What is ICE hehe sorry mate I'm very new to the scene aye.

I'm interested in performance mods I beleive the '00 is 88kw i'd be keen to push it up more for sure but just need a helping hand at where to go about starting off smallish.

Not looking to do a dodgy job of it I want the car looking good and I'm flirting with the idea of throwing a better engine in it later on down the track.

I'll take all ideas into consideration so it can help me learn more about my car.

ICE = In Car Entertainment

In terms of performance mods, I found it's better to start with a capable platform. Obviously budget is something to keep in mind, but if you're after a car era with performance I'd look at the CC GSR and DC2 ITR or VTIR. If you can find one, a nice GSR can be picked up for less than 10k. I'd assume a VTIR would be about the same and a DC2R would be around another 5-7k. If you must have an EK Civic and beyond, at the very least I'd be looking at the VTIR coupe.

Sorry mate... I should have abbreviated for you, ICE means In car entertainment. You've come to the right spot as far as learning about Honda's.

Recommended mods for your car would be a sports air filter ( a pod shaped filter that flows more air into your engine helping performance and giving your car a sportier sound). This requires removing your standard air box.

A sports exhaust and exhaust manifold will also help performance and will again give your car a sportier sound.

Unfortunately this all I would recommend as your D16 engine is not the most
responsive to modifications, that said you could always look into fitting a turbo or adding N.O.S for performance gains or fit a complete VTEC engine of your choice.

Do a search in the "search" section on any topic and you should find answers.

Hope I gave you some help.

the EK1s arent really that good for performance but you can turbo them or as some people have done put a new VTEC engine in.

If you want look at VTIR civic hatches or coupes or even as said before VTIR or type R integras

Yes I did think about the VTIR Civics but I haven't found anything that's still truly stock and unmodded.

Sort of wanted a fresh piece of clay to mould not something that has been flogged and needs too much doing to it which seems the case in most of the Civics I've looked at in the last few weeks.

How much do the VTIR engines cost just out of interest?

Don't get a d16y SOHC (single over head cam) VTi-R VTEC engine if your going to do an engine converaion. Fit a B16a DOHC (double over head cam) VTEC engine at the very least, prices can vary on this engine depending on what generation civic it originally came out of... Do a search in the "for sale" or "traders" section... type in B16a, engine or motor you should find something.

Cool thanks man I'll have alook around.

Well the Civic CXI I was pretty much 100% on fell through which might be a blessing in disguise really.

I really want a Civic hatch one that is rather recent for around 10k or under what do people recommend I search for?

Looking for it as stock as I can find which I know is a hard thing to do.

Well picked up a 1999 CXI Hatch.

Has done 56,000km and is an immaculate stock Civic which I'm very happy with especially considering I got 3 years warranty on it aswell.

Time to start getting it up to pace with the other civics round here, well maybe that won't start happening until I purchase my VTI-R VTEC engine.

One question I do have is that I was planning on putting a pod filter in but was thinking how much difference performance wise would there be between doing that or just replacing the filter in the airbox with a K&N High Flow Air Filter?

Also on the look out for a decent alarm any recomendations on brands?

I've been told Cobra and Viper are the go do you guys agree?

BIG DEBATE with regards to performance...of course you're gonna get your pod filter owners saying that it makes a difference. just bare in mind with pod filter, it sounds GREAT! but sucks hot air from d engine bay (with a Short Ram Intake set-up). I have a panel filter like your pic, at least its covered by my stock box.

Yer was thinking of just putting in an air filter in the Airbox and then replacing the plastic pipe with a steel one.

That's what's been suggested to me by my mate who thinks I'll get just about the same specs as I would putting in a pod.

Joeyboy

Yes, you can do that! Or if you can get a heatshield for the pod filter, then that would work as well.....i guess having a pod looks good in your engine bay.....as well as sound factor as well.

Yeh I was thinking the same thing myself the headlight protectors don't look too noticeable though.

Here are a couple more pics.
