hey guys my b16a conversion is finished, jus not running 100% yet.. i jus gotta service yday, and the mechanic was a dumbshit and didn't tell me anything i dind't already know or fix anything really..
i converted my eg3 breeze into a [acronym:6624e20f81="Japanese Domestic Market"]JDM[/acronym:6624e20f81] b16a... pretty much stock, except for Xforce 4-2-1 extractors... the fuel pump was taken from a ek4 ... radiator is still breeze one which is doin the job for the time being, its just the hose that doesn't fit and ill change that up pretty soon
Also, i think my engine is from the eg9 b16a 4 door ferio ... i know its got 10hp less than the eg6, but is there any difference in [acronym:6624e20f81="Engine Control Unit"]ECU[/acronym:6624e20f81] or anything that would could be the cuase of my problem...
At the moment, the idle is a bit rough.. and its slightly high, staying about 1500 rpm even when warmed up... but the main problem im having is that, its a little hard to explain, but ill try..
When takin off.. its really sluggish.. the car studders like is about to stall, and then after it kicks in a little higher rpm and speed, it smooths out and seems to drive fine after that... When i got the engine put in, the car was misfiring (as there was a little bit of water in the 1st valve) and the spark plugs were black as hell... which im pretty sure is a sign that its running too rich?
It still is running to rich and is eating up the petrol...
Originally the o2 sensor wasn't screwed in properly which would have been the cause of some of the problem and the car is running slightly better after that small service, however the o2 sensor has been screwed in tightly now and problems still remain... Could the o2 sensor not being screwed in have reset my [acronym:6624e20f81="Engine Control Unit"]ECU[/acronym:6624e20f81] or put my [acronym:6624e20f81="Engine Control Unit"]ECU[/acronym:6624e20f81] into like some sort of safe mode where fuel is being flooded in or something?
Also the [acronym:6624e20f81="Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control"]VTEC[/acronym:6624e20f81] isn't kicking in very hard, you can hear it and the speed increases slightly more when above 5000ish RPM, but really doesn't have that vtec pull, although, i havn't driven it much at all considering the problem.. ive heard that [acronym:6624e20f81="Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control"]VTEC[/acronym:6624e20f81] is very sensitive to the rest of the car, so if there are problems with the car, then the [acronym:6624e20f81="Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control"]VTEC[/acronym:6624e20f81] wont work to its full potential etc..
Possible reasaons ive been told that are causing the problem include:
[acronym:6624e20f81="Engine Control Unit"]ECU[/acronym:6624e20f81] needs tunning to find the right fuel/oxy ratio or somethin of such
Carbon build up on my throttle body and/or intake manifold
Injectors are dirty (the filter inside) - would injector cleaner in my petrol when i next fill up help/solve this problem?
o2 sensor not working properly - I bought this at hond-wreck in melbourne so i assume it would be working properly, although ive read they're very sensitive (not just to oxygen :P) so if misshandled it could damage a wire or such..
The mechanic sugguested the fuel pump may not be compatible, would a ek4 fueltank be compatible with this engine?
I pretty much just want the problem to be found n solved, and after taking it to a generic mechanic yesterday, ive realised i probably need someone who knows hondas better than your local mechanic...
i live in sth east melb and lookin for a place where i can take my car to get these few things fixed... i dont have much $$ so somewhere reasonable as well..。
I was thinkin of mayb hond-wreck but im not sure... anyone who has any imput into my problems or a good honda mechanic who can fix them would be VERY VERY much appreciated... thanks
