Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with using/installing the ebay cold air intake kits that are sold in the US for like 50 bucks..

e.g:

Since their engine is the same as mine (D17A) and their engine bays are pretty much identical to ours, do you reckon it would fit? And how difficult is the installation?

Any one who owns one of these or had experience with them please reply.

i think the engine bay is a bit different. i think the Vi will be more compact
to make sure its better to buy 1 made for the car. doesnt matter is its ebay or not

Hmm yeah, my friend owns the GLi sedan and we've compared engine bays, its bout the same with very minor differences.

On the K&N site theres the typhoon kit which basically has the same application where you remove resonator n stuff to install and these ebay kits are more or less the same shape as the typhoon/aem kits. So no one's tried them?

I bought a short RAM intake off eBay. I think the brand was something like HPS. Fits perfectly for my GLi sedan, not sure about the Vi though. There was a pic on their advert so I was pretty sure it would fit before I purchased. I suggest you do the same, wouldn't want to buy one and find out that it doesn't fit :(

Oops. I posted in a thread that was over a year old. My bad.
