Am I doing the AP2 taillight update.

If someone were to pay me $500, I'd consider it.

Who said it was one hole? lol. One main hole, 2 smaller cut in holes, plus drilling.... Painful enough, but its the wiring up process thats a real slut.

Take my advice, those looking to do the update, spend the extra $200US and buy the HardTopGuy.com AP2 taillight conversion kit. Will contain the gaskets, and all necessary wires.

I waited 2wks for my gaskets to arrive from special order of Honda Japan. Cost me $50.

Sure, if you want to cheapen out $150 do what I did, but I don't recommend it..... grinding plugs with sandpaper to certain shapes and sizes isn't exactly fun....

Roof conversion, next ay.

Its on the cards, yes ;), but this is my next mod:

http://i18.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/a6/db/c415_1.JPG

Its behind me. Waiting on my brand new one to arrive. Should be here Monday I presume. ALready got the AP2 HID bulbs, ballasts and igniters here too, so I don't have to ghetto tape the AP1 ballast to the base of the AP2 headlights. Just a simple 3 bolt to the base and you're done.

After that, hopefully a custom carbon fibre - since the J's ones look nice, but hold water like a lake, and othrs just don't interest me, then a new glass roof.

Then, FI, Vortech S/c - hopefully by years end.

Somewhere during all this period a set of Bride seats are also planned to be fitted. Perhaps a painted CF Mugen or Top Secret hood too.... still undecided there.

Invidia V3 - owes me about $1100-$1200.

My impatience to get it sent out via airmail cost me about $550-$600 in postage.

ludecrs- just wondering how much the front headlights are costing you? i got quoted $1100 just for the housing.

ludecrs

$410 for one headlight, 1000kms old, and $320 for the other headlight.

Bulbs, ballasts, igniters etc cost me $300.

Total: approx 1000.

is this from s2ki.com?? did you get the US spec headlights?

ludecrs

Yep S2ki members.

Ones a US spec AP2, and the other is from Kuwait. I elected to have my cut off both the same (low side on low beam) as to not blind on coming motorists.

I PM'ed the Kuwait guy today.... ***ker only just sent it out last week. I paid for it nearly 4wks ago.... Still waiting on an email for a tracking number... So all my impatience with waiting for it, and he's only just sent it.... farkkkken moron.... now I have to wait another 10 days I presume to do the conversion.

Atleast this weekend I can put in my CF cooling plate, Invidia Silencers - just to see the difference :), and I may elect to put in the Invidia Test Pipe too....

u know u can just adjust the headlights up and down?

I am going to 2nd the "never again" thread!

What did you use to cut the metal Brad?

I freaken spent all day with my dremel.....OMGGGGGGGGGG...**** installing these lights is a pain in the ass and I've only done one side so far!

ludecrs

LOL, I told you it was an absolute bitch of a job.

I used a dremmel and a pair of tin snips to get to the hard to reach spots.

With the US AP2 headlights and the HID cut off that is thrown out, you can't adjust the HID beam from -\_ to _/- as the HID's can't be swapped over.

You CAN adjust them up and down (by removing the front bumper and manually lining them up with a little adjuster thingy underneath the headlight housing) but that only adjusts how high/low the light is thrown, not how the HID cut off is thrown, as they can't be changed like the Audi / BMW / Valeo HID projectors can.

I received my Invidia Test Pipe and Silencers today... Silencers are ****ing huge! And ugly! Don't think I'll be using them because of how ugly they are lol, but for $25US I couldn't disagree with that price. The Test Pipe looks brand new woot.. Just gotta decide if I wanna put it on or not - again only $50US so why not have it ay?

Ahah test pipe? Even I am not that hardcore!

btw, with these AP2 lights, when u have ur headlights on, so just the 1st set of LEDs is lit, do you get light going out of the side of the taillight too?

hey with the AP2 headlights. wouldnt it be easier just to get an aftermarket HID kit to suit?? wouldnt it make life easier?

ludecrs

Or just spend $300 and buy the AP2 HID ballasts and mount them where they're supposed to go instead? :p

I think the side is just a deflector, much like the AP2 headlights.

With the AP2 headlight, when the indicator is on, there is an orange eflector right beside it, presumably to deflect the light.

Refer to image below:
http://images1.snapfish.com/347597355%7Ffp345%3Enu%3D3256%3E:%3B7%3E854%3EWSNR CG%3D3233938753%3C97nu0mrj

See how there is the big indicator lense on the far left, but there is also that deflector part just to the right of it. I'd assume the AP2 taillights serve the same function. That, and it beats the hell out of looking at black plastic from the side hahaha.

haha i see, good I just finished installing everything today!

I honestly don't think grinding the plugs etc is very hard at all if you have a dremel!!! This 2nd side took me about an hour all up from removing the old tail lights to installing the new one, the first side probably took me 4 hours or so!

ludecrs

I did the first one in about 2 1/2, and the 2nd one in about 1.

I found the plugs annoying since I used sandpaper :p
