Hi guys..

I have a busted side mirror (just the mirror).

Has anyone had to replace one of these mirrors? Can I get a new piece of mirror cut in the same shape and then just whack it on the piece of plastic?

Is the black strip in the 2nd pic removable?

Help appreciated

hey mate, what you'll have to do is just buy the complete replacement mirror from a honda dealer ~$60. it seems some plastic on the backing has shattered and broken.

for my car, it just snaps onto a central ball joint, then two other small balls (which are used to push the mirror up and down, and left and right).

takes 30 seconds to install. give honda a call.

plus, it is damn near impossible to source on from a wrecker, cos they'll wanna sell it to you whole (including mirror casing)

Hey mate...

Thanks for the reply...

What does the complete replacement mirror include? Just the mirror or does it include that black outer casing as well?

I thought some of the plastic broke as well - I assume you're referring to that small little black piece?

I just think that small little black piece has been there all along. It seems embedded on the white foamie background and there aren't any chips on the black case to show where it could've been broken off...

I completely agree....

casing should be part of the mirror mate :)

so what u'll get is usualy just black plastic + mirror that should snap onto the mirror housing unit.

i guess do another check to see if the inside mechanism is working as well.

Thanks for that SiReal...

I'll give the local dealer a buzz to see if they have any replacement side mirrors in stock!

:D

Hey man, if it's not too late to cancel your order, you can get stick over mirror from anywhere like Autobarn, which you cut out to the shape you need and just stick on over the damaged mirror.
It's not as good as replacing, but i have used it before and for the few bux it costs you hardly even notice it's there! Save you some $$$ anyway :)

Oh right! What do you use to cut the mirror with though?

i thought of that option as well, but if u study the mirror + backing, the plastic is wrapped around the outer edges of the mirror to make it secure.

apprently u can go to like windscreens o brien or whatever but at the end of teh day, they charge u like 20 or 30 dollars less than brand new genuine item with guranteed fitment, etc.

so its up to you SiR ;)

It's not glass as such, more of a hardened plastic, still very reflective so you can cut it with a snanley knife or something like that!

Thanks for the pointers, SiReal...

I think I'm just going to avoid all the hassle and order one in at the dealer...IF the muppet faxes me the order form like he promised!
