Went to Snowy Mountain over the weekend.. while driving at night, the snow icon come up twice... then like 5 seconds later it went off....

Havent got time to check the manual what its it yet.

Just wondering if the traction control detect some minor slip thats why it show the icon or is it meant for other stuffs?

Drove around 1000km over the weekend, lowest FC obtain is 7.7l/100km. Probably could go lower to 7.6 if I drive at 100km/h.

Lowest external temp display is -1 deg.

The snowflake appears when the temperature goes 0 or below.

It was only 1deg when it first appear somewhere after Canberra...

Then another time it appear when I was driving and it was -1deg. When I started the car to go back down the mountain, it was already 0deg and I had to let the car warm up and slowly creep out of the car park.

Then maybe it appears at 1ºC or colder. :)

This is on the MID, right?

The snowflake appeared on my dash the other day and it was 3c at the time. Perhaps with the 2006+ models they changed it to 3c

I can confirm with my 06 model that its 3c when the icon appears. Its usually a good reminder of "black ice" on the road :)

yep. Last tuesday, coldest morning in the last 21 years. and it was 2c that morning, and the snow flake popped up.

also my oil pressure was really high that morning for some reason until 10-15mins, it got back to normal activity

That's because it was cold and the oil was still very viscous. After 10-15 minutes, the oil heated up enough to flow without high pressure.

The manual says the icon will come on when the temp drops to 3 and below.

When driving from Melb to Sydney at night, it was -4ºC and my windscreen washer was frozen. There was ice on the front edge of my side mirror pods. Also the windscreen froze over and the wipers made a noisy scraping sound when I used them.

Hey aaronng, quite rubbing it in, the temp has been over 108F and we've had over 15 days in a little over a month exceeding 110F, to top it off one of our 2 home A/Cs quit the last week!

What I wouldn't give to be in OZ!

Switch on the de-froster and de-mister and drive slowly, the hot engine should melt the frozen windscreen water.

When summer starts over here, then we will be wanting to escape to anywhere north of the equator!

The water in the bottle didn't freeze, just the little bit that was in the nozzle. Was fun though.

The snowflake icon is a daily occurence here in Canberra. I like it because my wife jumps out of her skin when it suddenly dings, thinking that the car is about to destruct or something.
