View Full Version : do 215/40/17's fit on a 00 Civic EK hatch?
Hi all, just about to make my first tyre/wheel purchase- was just wondering if 215/40/17's fit, or if anyone has any recommendations for other specs.
Also, is it going to be a hard ride?
Thanks in advance!

they fit if you have a 17x7 wheel.
but will most probably cause scrub.
ride will be a bit more rougher, feeling more bumps and what not.
i would get 205/40/r17's instead, thinner less rub.
but yet again, feeling more bumps.

also ensure u have the correct offset to reduce the chance of rubbing. tyres will alway fit. just whether the other factors just as alloy specs, lowering, etc.
Wow thanks for the quick reply. 'Cause scrub' meaning the tyres will occasionally rub?
Also, Tempe's out of stock of the wheels I want. I've found this place:
http://www.paylesstyres.com/products_index.asp?ItemType=Tyre, but they don't seem to have the Kumho SPT tyres I was hoping to get. Any recommendations for a good tyre? And know if this is an ok place to buy from?
Tempe doesn't get the wheel in for 4-6 weeks..

yeah scrub, usually when its a ful load of ppl, stuff like that, the outer of the tyre might hit the guard etc.
What's the standard offset, or do they vary?

or inner depending on the offset of the wheel
Is there a way to find out the offset without taking off the wheel? I'm so far thinking of getting kspeed nitro or kspeed kronus, so far, prolly the kronus.. kumho spt's 215/40/17 or probably the equivalent in another brand at paylesstyres.com, just this offset thing's being tedious!

well, if you have a Civic EK, then offset is +45 for a steelie of mesurements 14x6.
If 17x7, something of the nature +42 to +48 should be ok.
So making the choice between say +42 and +45, for example- how would one go about deciding?

well its only 3mm difference when u think about it. the biggest impact would be on the width of the actual tyre.

17x7 i would pick 42.
3mm will do lots.
it can just make is scrub.
