Bonnet Support Rod [Archive]

Hi,

I've been to a few inspections on my quest to buy a MY06 euro, one thing i found suprising.

An euro manufactured Jan 06, uses a support rod for the bonner, when another MY06 euro (manufactured Feb 05) has 2 pump things that automactically holds the bonnet up (like my camry).

Is this an after market thing? also an MY06 model manufactered in Fed 05 smells fishy?

I have an 06(plated 5/06) and mine has the support rod,i'm sure they all do.MY06 plated Feb 05??something not right there.

I think they are aftermarket gass struts... I got friends who install them on their cars... no Euro though

i got an 06. no gas pump thing, it uses the support rod. But i m pretty sure all the euro uses support rod *well from all the euro i seen*

Yeah, I was expecting the car to be around Dec 2005 as its a face lifted model, but it was definitely Feb 2005 :S

Gas struts are aftermarket. Not even an option from Honda. I'd go for the car with the support rod because the bonnet and engine bay hasn't been drilled to fit the gas struts. Anything drilled is at the risk of rusting if not sealed properly.

Maybe someone clever has modded Accord V6 gas struts to fit Euro? Euro definitely doesn't have 'em as standard.

With regard to the MY06 built Feb 05, I saw an MY08 today, built 05/07 and complied 07/07. The 08 is in the VIN before the chassis number i.e. 08Cxxxxxx

Dont see anywhere to screw the gas struts on the engine bay on the Euro.
