Hey, just recently i started to notice that my car would slighly just rev in 3rd, 4th gear and sometimes 5th. Specially at 3rpm before picking up power Even when im steadily driving and then put bit more power eg. going up a hill. It would just rev abit then pick up the power. Few days later stopping at a turn, with the clutch down i lost all pressure and the pedal was basically flat. Got home looked in the clutch res and noticed all the fluid was gone. I temp replaced the fluid just for the mean time. Clutch has pressure again but not as it use to be, specially coming from heavy duty clutch. I'm just wondering is the extra revs, lack of power clutch related or something totally worse eg. engine f'D? Is my clutch slipping and totally gone or a combo of clutch failure and engine?

Forgot to add. I was bout to get my car re dyno tuned next few weeks. Could it be it just needs a retune?

tin, u have a leaky mc from the sounds of it, the power loss can be related. best to take it in steps and fix mc first and see how it goes from there

thanks for the reply.

Is there away of checking if the master cylinder is leaking? lets say if it is leaking whats a rough estimate of getting it replaced if anyone knows.

Thanks

checking master cylinder - just stick your head under your steering wheel where the pedals are check your clutch pedal inside your car for any leaks of clutch fluid , and it could also be your slave cylinder.

EDIT - and also on my ek4 i replaced my master cylinder from honda for i think was 150-200ish approx inc labour. (not replaced at honda though)

thanks for your reply....

BTW the clutch is squeaking now too. kinda a annoying. sounds like it needs some lube.

I just had a look. Yeah master cylinder has had its day. There fluid leaking every where.

I'l get it quoted on my next service.

Once again thanks for your help.

no worry, also when you go in to check, may aswell ask them to check your slave cylinder for any leaks even though i am not exactly sure where it is on your car and not that i can explain it properly where it is anyway even if you drove ek4.

good luck with it all

clutch squeek can though is not often related to the MC, as obviously the MC controls engage and disengagement of the clutch, any clutch related noise can also be related, so yeah take it in steps and do the MC, should cost about 200 depending on if u rebuild the MC or if u replace it with an oe or generic one.

Theres a diy by ecu-man on this forum that wil walk u thru the rebuild if u choose this way, gl with it.
