just to clear it up

define this so called *ROADWORTHYNESS*

is anything that has a rego sticker classified as a roadworthy car.. common any one can get a blue slip.....
or is anything that is actually street driven classified as a road worthy car? just letting you guys think for a minute

i could put a rego sticker on a drag car and classify that as a roadworthy car! think about that

still in that case the AH that ran 11.6's drives his car to and from the track.. so that is still roadworthy...

hey im not dissing the AH twins glen and jason...
im just wanting to clear things up....
there are afew that hold grudges against me *my car is stripped* so it dosnt qualify to be categorized as a street car but yet i do drive it out every change i get..

each to their own i guess, but this thread brought to my attention, and it certainly confuses a the most as to their expectation to what it considered what

Be that as it may, not anyone can run an 11 on street radials... and that is they key point here. 11.6, fwd, street tyres. Not alot in that bracket, be they turbo charged or NA.

i agree, its not an easy task to do, and certainly near impossible on street tyres,
but i fall back to my previous post to clarify what im trying to say...
what does one consider a *ROAD WORTHY* car

also now that the the kettle's boiling

what is considered a street tyre?
bfg is drag radial but is also classified as a street tyre?
MT released a new so called *street tyre* but yet i looks exactly like slicks with 2 groves in them

The Yanks refer anything with DOT stamp is " street tyres "

When this thread started I knew this topic would come up. Every thread I've ever seen on any forum about any sort of car ends up asking the same questions on this topic and everyone has a different opinion.

In my mind you've really only got 2 classes. DOT tyres and slicks. Everything else is just muddy water. In the end who gives a rats as long as it runs the times. :)

You're complicating things a little mate.

If the tyre is street legal, it's a street tyre. If it's a slick, it's not.

basically its just street legal tyres and road registered right?

I hate the term Street Tyres. It's pretty much any tyre these days.

I guess only the people that actually drag would understand the difference.

Its because the term " street tyres " is complicated now days

The same thing with the term " road worthy / registered "

In USA this is DOT street tyres . Insane huh

well basically any tyre that can be used on the street legally. and the car is road registered. meaning its got current registration and can be driven on the road? lol. well i guess it would depend what country or state your in too.

those mickey thompsons.... o_O
so do people in the USA drive around with those tires on the street? hahaha...

yeah its always the argument. Everyone says our crx isnt a street car. I drive it everyday. Going to go cruising in about 2 hours time too. It does run DOT aprove tyres it is road registered. BUt I admit the defect list is pretty long... but then again who's car isnt these days?

ALLMTR

Street registered, street driven = street car

I drove the Acorn AH to Qld and back in the same condition it is in now ie chassis/suspension/gutted
