quiet with nice note, you'll want a decent straight-through oval muffler for that. Mandrel bent costs bugger all more really, you may as well get it. Crush bends screw the flow up heaps

I had Simota Air intake kit all it did was make alot of noise and reduce power noticably, spend the big bux and get a AEM V2 i just installed one and it is THE SHIT, it does what AEM claims, great intake love it..

gday,

It cost me $200 for my catback, mandrel bend..thats including an extra hotdog. For the magnaflow your probably looking at around $200 or so.
I got 2 1/4 cause i was afraid 2 1/2 would be too loud.

Is it better to go a smaller piping eg 1 & 3/4" pipe rather than bigger like 2 1/4"???

And where did you get your AEM intake from?

poid

for NA exhausts, you want the piping to be the biggest size which does not reduce the velocity of the gases too dramatically. Contrary to popular belief, backpressure is not the reason for sticking with smaller exhaust diameters than for turbo cars. In all exhaust systems you want as little backpressure as possible to help with the evacuation of exhaust gases from the engine. Its the velocity of the exhaust gases whichyou are worried about with the larger diameter piping.

2.25" should be about right, 2.5" is getting to be a little on the large side but is also passable IMO

what about smaller again like the 1 & 3/4"??? that do the same to p'mance as big piping does?

h22a accord
25-07-2004, 07:58 PM
yeh, it constricts the exhaust gases..

hey, another question, is 2.5" too big for my h22a accord?

so ideal size is 2.25" for a NA 2.2 [acronym:1220033516="Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control"]VTEC[/acronym:1220033516]

well the stock piping on a [acronym:b2293ccf3f="Japanese Domestic Market"]JDM[/acronym:b2293ccf3f] 149kw 2.2 dohc vtec h22a prelude motor is 2", the stock piping on a [acronym:b2293ccf3f="Japanese Domestic Market"]JDM[/acronym:b2293ccf3f] 162kw 2.2 dohc vtec h22z prelude type s motor is 2.25"

i dont know the exhaust diameter on a [acronym:b2293ccf3f="Australian Domestic Market"]AUDM[/acronym:b2293ccf3f] 107kw 2.2 sohc vtec f22b accord.

I agree with others that 2.25" is plenty enough for a stock accord.
